We were so lucky our Sunday return brought us by this hidden gem before it closed at 5 pm. Not only did it have the delicious pickles it had advertised on a large cardboard sign, but a variety of fruits, vegetables, and kimchi. Beyond the pickles the kimchi was the most enticing to us at the time as we had never tried persimmon kimchi before. The flavor of the kimchi and the persimmon paired well together an combined for the perfect amount of spice and sweet. While we loved the flavor so much that we ate most as a snack, we plan to us the rest as a delicious dinner side dish. The farmer was incredibly friendly and allowed us to try a couple samples to find the right dish for our own personal taste palate. He also informed us that they participate in a farmers market in SF on Sunday mornings. A location I'm sure my husband and I will visit in the near future.

These inside shops were curated by the likes of Alice Waters (chez panisse chef in Berkeley) and are nothing short of beautiful. Be warned there are inflated prices for most things. But you can still find a deal when looking for produce with the farmers.

The coffee, baked goods, fruit, and dessert selection is especially exceptional. The market itself is not dog friendly however, people still seem to bring their furry friends along. Honorable mentions: * Brown sugar latte from Painted Leopard (oatmilk) - incredibly creamy and sweet. Coffee taste was mild and well balanced. * Apricot kefir from Achadinha Cheese Company - Creamy, tangy, and pairs so well with fruit. * Thousand layer cake from NUSA - not a typically easy to find dessert. The layers are soft and delicious while not being too sweet. * Pain epi from Acme - the perfect vessel for cheeses and spreads. Light, crispy, and easy to pair with anything whether sweet or savory. This market is such a fun way to experience the local vendors in the area with your taste buds. Come early before 11/12 pm so its not too crowded.

Now that I'm cooking more from…read morehome, I want to make sure I purchase the best produce and ingredients + support local vendors. The Corte Madera Farmers Market is much smaller and more intimate than the Sunday Farmers Market at the Marin Civic Center. This isn't by any means a bad thing. Bigger isn't always better (or so I've been telling girlfriends for years). Here's the way I look at it - instead of a full kitchen, you're getting a kitchenette. Instead of a full length feature, you're getting a really good short film. It's like the Mini Me of Farmer's Markets. And you know what - that's a-ok by me. Smaller crowds. Prettier environment. Plus, when I'm done shopping, I can poke my head into others stores at the Town Center (Safeway, CVS, Crate and Barrel, etc.). You'll find many of your go-to produce and meat/poultry vendors here. Plus, they have my favorite Indian/Nepalese food vendor here (gotta get me some momos, samosas and dipping sauce). And unlike many of its counterparts, this Farmers Market is open from noon to 5pm (which is much better for my schedule). It's definitely worth checking out. Happy shopping, my peeps! : )

But my husband's co-worker mentioned to him that there is Kalamansi at the Serramonte Farmers Market, so I went. The Rivera stall has a lot of Filipino vegetables so if you need them, come by and make sure you go to their stall. They say that their kalamansi si year round, so for sure I am coming back. Went to the Thursday morning market. Wish I knew the name of vendor but I purchased a chocolate chip scone $5. Horrible. Was hard. I warmed up and had to spit out. It was bad. Texture and flavor. Something was wrong. They also had empanadas and cookies. I purchased a Kahlúa pork empanada for my mom and a Confetti cookie for my son. The cookie color really looks strange as well. You can't really see it when they're packaging it cause it's behind glass so I'm afraid to let my son eat it. All items were thrown away so I wasted $16.

For balance, ferments at Min-Hee Hill Garden offer many varieties and sizes. Do stop by and check them out. Music is always interesting and a joy to experience.
