We LOVE Stacey & Shasta!. Our dog Casey is so much more well behaved due to his time spent with Woofwalks. He heels, sits, gives the ball when we ask for it, & we're now working on "come" & "off". I went to Stacey and Shasta for help with a high energy, short attention span, insecure and dog-aggressive pitbull puppy. We'd been through obedience classes, but the common approach of "just avoid all other dogs" took all the fun out of owning a dog, and left me tense everytime I picked up the leash. Unfortunately my tension was only making my dog harder to control. On my first meeting with Stacey and Shasta, they immediately had my dog calm and responsive. Within 2 visits she could walk past other dogs without barking and lunging. After a few walks with Shasta and her pack, my dog would allow other dogs to come up behind her and sniff without turning around to snap at their faces. Nothing short of miraculous! Even greater than my dogs positive behavioral changes was the growth in my own confidence as her handler. Now we have fun together on the trail! In addition to their vast expertise with dog behavior, Woof Walks has been incredibly supportive and generous with their experience. They take the time to explain everything to me, as many times as it takes for me (and the dog) to really get it. Here's the thing, I really REALLY needed to find a dogwalker for an upcoming day trip I had to take. I called woofwalks and reached an unidentified voicemail box. I went to their website and filled out the applications for prospective clients. I got their auto-generated email acknowledgment of same, stating I would be contacted shortly. After a few days and no word, I called again, and I emailed. Nothing. My message stated I needed to find someone soon. Nothing. I get that it was the holidays, but a week went by with no word. So I ended up contacting another dogwalking business in Oakland. They replied right after the weekend, set up a meet and greet, came to my home and spent over an hour meeting my dogs. I hired them. A few days after I hired the other dogwalking business, I got a voice message from woofwalks. The message stated they might have a walker to meet my dogs, but it would be really difficult with HER schedule to come over during a weekday afternoon, so maybe we could find some time that worked better with her schedule. That was over a week after I'd filled out their lengthy apps, etc. The contrast between the two businesses is stark. I'm glad I found the other business. They are awesome. read more

We are so grateful to have found Stacey and Woofwalks. I have a rescue pitbull that once he turned two he became aggressive at times. Our lives changed, he couldn't be free anymore because we didn't know when he would feel scared and react. We miss Stacy, Shasta and the woofwalks pack!!! Having recently moved from the SF Bay area to the Boston Bay area I found myself looking for an east coast version of WoofWalks. There is no such thing. What Stacy and Shasta have built is wonderfully unique in that their business is professionally run while at the same time you feel like a family member. Brie my almost 8 year old 130# French Mastif and I were lucky to join WoofWalks at their begining almost 8 years ago. Both Stacy and Shasta were instrumental in Brie's training and socialization confirmed by Brie's wonderful behavior today. For several years while living in the SF bay area I traveled for my work and Brie would go to WoofWalks for "overnights" the best indication of her care while I was on the road would be when she would be picked up the next day she would run to the truck to be with her friends. If for any reason she was not cared for while I was gone she would be hesitant to go to the truck. I know this about Brie. Brie was a 5 day a week client plus a frequent boarder and the cost of WoofWalks service did get a bit costly but I had no problem writing the checks because I knew that my best friend and companion was well taken care of by a pair of incredible and dedicated individuals who run a wonderful service and business. So, did I find an east coast version of WoofWalks? No, but I encouraged an employee from my local Petco day camp to break off on his own and he took Brie as well as a few other campers off to his own service which includes pick up day care and drop off. I still travel for my work so Brie stays with her new care taker Rui and his family - If anyone in the Boston area is looking for service I can recommend my guy - Stacy and Shasta know how to get a hold of me. My wife and I were lucky to meet Stacey and Shasta, owners/operators of Woofwalks, at an Oakland park. Our GSP, Maddie, is a toy/ball-obsessed, high-energy dog and we had been using other reputable Oakland dog services for daily walks, boarding, and daycare. After speaking with the Woofwalks team we decided to try their service. We have never looked back or tried another service. Maddie partakes in the Woofwalks daily off-leash excursions, daycare (many times with very short notice), and boarding. The Woofwalks team has given us more than we could ever return. Like many dog owners we did not know how to be a pack leader or the correct ways (and order) to apply exercise, discipline, and affection. Stacey and Shasta and the Woofwalks approaches to pack leadership have opened our eyes and strengthened our relationship with Maddie. My wife and I look forward to returning home every evening to read the Woofwalks "log sheet" documenting Maddie's activities and new friends she has made during her off-leash excursions. We've been using Woofwalks for boarding and once a week off- leash walks for our Aussie mix for over a year. Bella loves Glen, her dog walker. She smiles every time he comes to pick her up. I've been using Woofwalks ever since I adopted my dog, Sweetie Pie, from a local shelter. Sweetie was very scared and nervous around other dogs and people (also shadows, nighttime, cars, etc!). Woof Walks is the absolute best! Mozie my 3 year old Golden had some pretty serious issues about 1.5 years ago. He would growl at anyone that walked by us on our walk and would lunge and snarl at all dogs. I could not let him off lease because I never knew what dogs he might like and which he would not. Walking him was not fun. I was introduced to Woof Walks by a friend and quickly had them come and evaluate Mozie. We had several private sessions and I practiced and practiced what I was taught. At the same time they agreed to let Mozie go on woof walks 2x a week. I have to say, it made all the difference. While I don't let him off leash with dogs we don't know, once introduced properly to new dogs in private settings, he becomes their best friend. He no longer growls at people and is very excited to meet them and get petted. When another dog approaches he looks at me for guideance and in most situations he is a 'good boy'. I would not have been able to accomplish this without the training and weekly reinforcement that Mozie gets from Jaime, his weekly walker. He *loves* Jaime and squirms when he comes to pick him up. Over a year and a half later and Marley and I still love Woofwalks. She has progressed immensely and is much more calm and well-behaved. I have two senior mixed breed rescue dogs who had never received any training, even the basics. When I took them to Stacy, Chocolate (springer-lab mix) was 9 years old and Molly (pointer-hound mix) was 8 years old. Along with my then-fiance (now wife!)'s pit-dalmation mix, they stayed with Stacy for 3 weeks and when we got them back, we were in awe of how much they had learned and what good and well-behaved dogs they had become! Stacy was even gracious enough to take Molly back for a 1 week refresher a couple of months ago ( more than 1 year after the original course!) at no extra charge. I've been a client of Woofwalks for two years. Stacey and Shasta trained our then five-month-old mixed breed puppy, Linden, who had managed to turn the whole household upside-down. Shasta found me on a city street with 20-lb. Linden in full command of the situation, wrapping me up in the leash while playing tug-o-war. She casually pulled over in her car and handed me her card, gently suggesting that Woofwalks could help. Through their training of Linden and us, we now have a fantastic two-year-old companion and trusted friend. We did the full-on boot camp training; our pup is walked twice a week; and we have boarded him several times. All of these services have been provided with wonderfully professional care and attention to details. I can't say enough good things about the service that Woofwalks provides. In fact, this is the first online review I've EVER written and I'm only doing so because they inspire me with their wonderful care of our dog. We thought we were NEVER going to be able to walk our dog off-leash. Every time he had a chance he was off like a rocket, not to be seen for at least another 30 minutes when finally he was getting tired. He's a Brittany and was so focused on chasing those birds. Listening to us or even doggie treats came as a very poor second and never won his attention. We're pretty active and really wanted Reilly to enjoy roaming the trails with us off-leash. We realized we needed some help to get him there. The great thing about Woofwalks is that Stacey and team don't just walk your dog and tire him out. For that dog walking fee you also get built-in doggie training. Stacey is always happy to answer questions and do some human training too so that we could all give Reilly some consistency on his walks. Stacey gradually worked up from heeling, then to a long line, then finally off-leash. In just a few months we had a different dog! We now get complimented on how well trained he is when we're out on the trails. By the way, the other thing that worked for us was an eCollar. We did a lot of research on whether this would be a good thing or not for our four legged best friend, we didn't want anything to hurt him or have a negative effect. Brownie, my 100 lb. mixed breed, was aggressive to dogs. Also he would jump up to greet strangers (he's taller than most people) & would scare them half to death. I was afraid to take him on a walk. Stacey first gave us a private session in my neighborhood in east Oakland. She pointed out miniscule behaviors that, when noticed, would help me to take actions to prevent him from misbehaving. After that, I could walk Brownie around the block by myself, without worrying that I would lose control. When a stranger approaches, I have him sit and stay, and people often smile and thank me! I'm 67 with two arthritic knees, so when this big boy lunges at another dog, it is all I can do to control him. I boarded him with Stacey for three days--not believing that she could possibly get him to socialize with other dogs, and when I picked him up he was calmly wandering around her house, mingling with her dog with no problem whatsoever. I can't quite control him yet as well as she does, but I know now that soon I'll be able to. Recently, I met her for a group dog walk in the hills, so that she could see how he acts with me on the other end of the leash. The other dogs approached us one at a time: Brownie went sniff sniff, howz it goin'? and that was it! Stacey released Brownie (still attached to a long lead) and he behaved calmly, just like a normal dog. After a while, on his own, he put himself in the heel position next to Stacey, where he stayed for a while. My apartment has a tiny "doggy balcony." Brownie likes to lie on it and watch what's happening on the street, but when a dog would walk by, he would go berserk barking. Since training with Stacey, he is much calmer & now dogs walk by and he just squeaks a little. If you have a problem dog, I wholeheartedly encourage to give Woofwalks a try. I have used Woofwalks for 9 years; when a little 8 week old pitbull puppy walked into my front door and into my life. I'd had a bad experience with a pit bull the year before, and had uncertainties. My vet talked me into keeping him, and he quickly became the love of my life. I now have a second dog, Roxie who proved to be a more difficult dog than I thought after I adopted her. I turned to Stacey @ Woofwalks, who my other dog had grown up with, and it has turned into a success story. I also had health issues and was unable to give the dogs the excercise they needed at times. Stacey has been a life saver, both to me and to my dogs. My Roxie, showed some dog aggression after I adopted her, a trait I did not want. We brought our rescue dog, Buddy, to Woofwalks in February for the board and train program. We had just about given up hope of our boy ever being able to feel comfortable socially around other dogs or people, as he dealt with severe fear/aggression issues with strangers. While it was a big investment, I can say now after sticking with the program for several months that it was worth every penny. Stacey kept Buddy for 3 weeks, and he has boarded with her a few times since then, in addition to several training sessions to reinforce the training. Our routine has completely changed, and my husband and I were trained probably more than Buddy, but it has been wonderful to see the results in our dog. He is so much happier, and we have the tools needed to be the pack leaders for him. I cannot express what a lifesaver this program was for our family, and I would highly recommend Stacey and her team for anyone in need of training or socialization for their dog. I am fostering a dog that was on the euthanasia list because she was too scared and skittish and the shelter deemed her unadoptable. I am fostering her from a rescue organization and although the dog is beautiful, was very nervous, protective and aggressive towards strangers. I knew she needed some training so I called Woofwalks. Stacey asked me a lot of good questions over the phone and agreed we could do private training lessons to help my foster dog Ruby and me. Stacey arrived on time and was very thorough in explaining Ruby's behavior, how to properly train her with calm and assertive voice commands and corrections, when and when not to reward, timing and consistency of commands and corrections, etc. I felt immediately comfortable the minute she walked through my gate and when she left I felt so empowered to be a good doggie leader. I bring my dog to work with me everyday and my co-workers are truly amazed over the transformation Ruby has made over the short two months I've had her and I only met with Stacey twice! Ruby started off lunging and snarling at my co-workers and now runs freely up to them for love and attention. Considering this dog was on death row a couple months back, I feel like this was the best investment of my life (and Ruby's!). i could not have accomplished this without Stacey's guidance and knowledge. She truly cares about the dogs' well-being as well as the owners. Happenstance: I was leaving home one day when I saw Stacey picking up a neighbor's dog. I asked if she would meet my dog, (cocker spaniel) named Bentley. Bentley immediately liked her, so we arranged for walks twice a week. It's been over six months now since we began and I can say with absolute certainty Bentley LOVES his walks. He gets to play, walk the trails with all of his buddies in the neighborhood and run with the pack. I didn't realize how much Bentley enjoyed his outings until I was able to stay home for a few days, during which, I watched Bentley sit and wait at the door for his handlers/walkers to come and pick him up. It was really sweet! The walkers always leave a report card on his walk. I enjoy and look forward to reading about his outings; who he played with, his energy level, moods and poops. Also, after only a couple of outings, I noticed Bentley's behavior improve, he listens better and he seems much calmer at home. While I do not have a personal relationship with Stacey and Shasta, I have grown quite fond of them over the seven year period that they have been walking and boarding my dogs. Always helpful and professional, they first helped me to slim down my very overweight labrador retriever. They were also very supportive when our lab passed away suddenly. When we were ready to take on a new puppy, they helped me to turn a very difficult puppy into the best dog ever. Since we travel frequently, I am always assured that I will return to happy and healthy dogs if they board with Woofwalks. I should mention that our Lab takes walks two times a week with Raul and Teresa. They are also great and never fail to leave a little note outlining the walk for the day. I also have a little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who doesn't walk with them regularly. But, if I am ever in a pinch, they happily walk her, as well. I strongly recommend Woofwalks. It is an experience to see how they can convince a group of ten or more very excited dogs to all lay down at the same time. Your dog's life will be greatly enhanced. Lastly, I read the very negative review written by Sara O. I disagree with her assessment of Woofwalks and wonder why anyone feels the need to critique over 90 services. read more

Our Lab pup, Bootsy, is a lovely dog, but was totally rambunctious and out of control. He was chewing us out of house and home, tormenting our very patient cat, and running off on trails all the time. We had been working with treats and doing the Sirius training, which more or less worked until he hit adolescence. At that point he really didn't care what we wanted and continuously blew us off. We sent him to the bootcamp with Stacey and could not be happier. We were worried he would not be his usual effervescent self when he got back, but he has retained his spirit and has a much more calm demeanor now. It was hard work in the beginning to transition him back and accept us as the boss, but the training works. It is not an overnight fix, but each week things improve. I am so happy we did this now, and I can see how it has helped him reach his full potential. We are not always mad at him, and he is much happier. It has taken a ton of stress off us. read more

I am so fortunate to have found Stacey and Shasta to care for ACE dog: all 71 pounds of a lovable Labordoddle. The "muppet" as they call him makes everyone laugh. It is so nice when the boarders appreciate your pet as much as you do. It gives you a comfortable feeling when you have to take off for ten days. During the initial meeting they made it quite clear their business expectations concerning payment in a timely way and the expectation of my pet getting along with others before they would take him. The right amount of food, his bowls, and bedding had to be brought; this was all very clear. VERY PROFESSIONAL. I have now used their services four times. Each time everything was perfect. I even had to extend my trip by a day due to a delay in a flight. Stacey and Shasta were very flexible with that extended time. When ACE returns home he is always more well-mannered before he left. I adopted a "difficult" dog, who has aggression issues with other dogs and some people. I've tried different trainers without much success. Even though I live near a great dog park, I can never take my dog there because when we walk I try to avoid dogs. I finally found a good behaviorist and started working with her. She suggested I give Stacey a call. She said that she has seen dramatic results with dogs that were even worse than my dog after they've spent some time with Stacey and her pack. Stacey took my dog away from me for his first walk with the pack. On the 2nd walk I joined her. I couldn't believe my eyes when I joined Stacey on our walk. My dog was healing, happy, licking another dog's face. He was a different dog. I know that we just started, but I am very happy that I found Stacey. My wife and I got our puppy when she was 4 months old from the animal shelter and it was our first puppy. We had no clue what to do with a dog that chewed anything and everything, never listened to us, and was generally difficult on walks. The saving grace was that she was absolutely adorable and loved us as much as we loved her. We tried a treat based trainer, which didn't work out since River (our dog) would rather play than eat. I scoured yelp and google and found Woofwalks. We set up an interview and got to meet Stacey. While the cost was fairly high for us, it was well worth it! Stacey didn't just have class sessions with us, she took our puppy and kept her for 3 weeks for some much needed behavior modification. 3 weeks go by and we get to pick up River. My wife and I were profoundly happy at how well River behaved, listened, obeyed, and was still happy and energetic. Not only did Stacey get her under control, we also got 5 private lessons which were scheduled according to our schedule and not hers. This was great because it gave us a chance to work with River around our busy lives. The training sessions were very helpful and we couldn't be happier with Woofwalks! Since we don't live close by, we're not able to take advantage of the dog walking services, but plan to start doing a day care with them once every 2 weeks. I have a rescued, male Mastiff and in the two years that I have had him went through five different trainers to help me get him socialized around men and other dogs. So after a lot of money spent and hope dminished that I would ever have a dog who knew how to act properly in the world, I found Shasta and Stacey who talked to me for quite a while (for free!) to assess my problem and come up with a plan of action. Their calm and positive attitude helped me and my dog. They exposed us to other dogs and taught me how to deal with my dog's reactions and to check my own reaction in the situation. End result is that after just a couple meetings with Stacey and Shasta, I am walking my Mastiff at Point Isabel with hundreds of dogs running up to him, while he and I remain calm AND the biggest surprise is that he allows men to pet him and one guy even bear hugged him last Sunday at Point Isabel before I knew it. The bottomline for me on Woofwalks is that these women, Stacey and Shasta, seem to be sincerely interested in finding a solution to your dog problem and they are capable of doing so in a very calm and confident manner. read more
