His bedside manner is unparalleled, as he spent over an hour speaking with me and explaining which procedures he believed would address my concerns. He took photographs of me and was able to generate images of the expected results (not exact, of course), which he showed me at a second meeting. After much research and discussions with friends, who are in the medical field and familiar with the Baltimore area plastic surgeons, I decided to go with Dr. Papel. On the day of the surgery, the doctor took time, again, to review the procedures he was performing. I then met with the anesthesiologist and was taken into the surgical area. The entire surgical staff was kind and made feel completely comfortable. My recovery went as explained/expected and now I have a beautiful nose that suits my face and an amazing jawline! So I have nothing to compare this experience to, because it was my first time seeing a…read moredermatologist. My apt was at 2:45 for an initial evaluation. I was a new patient and I was running a bit late (5mins) so I had paper work to fill out as soon as I reached the office. I saw that others who had checked in at 2:30 were still in the front lobby. It was interesting to see that there were 2-3 others that had scheduled at the same time. I believe there is only one dermatologist, but in assuming they have other services such as the laser treatments that don't require the dermatologist to be present. So I wasn't actually taken back to a room until about 3:45. I was in the room and was asked a few questions. The treatment rooms are a bit dated, which I have no problem with, usually it means the doctor has been around a while. Anywho, I wasn't seen for another 15-20 minutes but the dermatologist. Once I was seen, he took a brief history and then asked about my cleaning regimen. I also had a spots I wanted checked for possible cancerous spots or rash. He took a brief look at my ace and decided in a few washes, topicals, and an antibiotic. I don't think I had enough time to explain any other spots before he already decided what I had. I also wanted a few moles checked out, which if I hadn't pointed out, he would've missed. So when the doc actually sees everything and hears the history I believe clinically he's very good. But everything seemed pretty rushed. He was really friendly nonetheless. I think he was in and out within 15mins, he prescribed me meds for my acne, biopsied two spots, and was out. I don't really know what to make of this experience. Hopefully the other areas I was worried about is nothing to be stress about because he saw them and made no comment about them. I would just plan for at least a 1.5 -2hrs experience for your first visit.
