My favorite event was the Art walk in April 2026. I really enjoyed the hands on art activities they provided in particular and also enjoyed visiting a few rooms they had open with the artists who decorated them being present. I appreciate that the food trucks they invite to be on premises have vegetarian and vegan options. Can't wait for the next event here!

What a hidden little gem in Tucson. There are a lot of retro hotels being renovated around Arizona…read morethese days, and having stayed at multiple ones, I can say Hotel McCoy is doing it really well. I love that it is a single-story motel, meaning you don't have to listen to the neighbors walking above you all night. Also, they have gone out of their way to make things kitschy, artsy, and cool. There is art everywhere, including fun little treats like chalk and chalkboards in the room. The rooms are functional but not fancy. There isn't carpet (a benefit in my opinion), the shower is small, but has excellent pressure. I will say the beds are incredibly comfortable. Everything was clean. We had a small (retro-style of course) fridge in the room. And even though there was just a window unit, our room maintained a comfortable temperature. (Although it wasn't that hot. I am not sure how it would be in the summer.) I do love that they only have keypads, no actual keys, which made it really convenient to go in and out. There is also a little bistro set by the front door, which is delightful for sipping coffee (or eating your free oatmeal) in the morning. The common areas are fun, decorated with a lot of cool art and old school kitsch. The pool is heated saltwater, which is good for the cooler months, but kind of a bummer in the hotter months (aka most of the year) because it was only April but the pool felt like bathwater. You can't bring your own drinks to the pool area, but they have a lot of drinks for sale in the lobby (beer, wine, cider, no hard liquor), and the prices are quite reasonable. And the oatmeal bar in the morning is tons of fun. Service is slightly hit or miss. Some of the employees were amazing (shout out to Alex!), but some kind of felt like they were going through the motions. All in all, this is a good value motel, and I would stay there again.

There really isn't a lot in the immediate area of much interest; most of the best that Tucson has to offer is in the greater metro area, not the downtown core. But it is nice that they offer ample parking just steps from your room at no extra charge. The building looks nice from the outside, with its retro mod style and landscaped courtyard. The bar has very limited hours in the summer, but does have a nice drink menu and makes a good spot to hang out. The room was a bit sparse in my opinion. I was under the impression from the website that there would be a nook with a chair for reading, but my room didn't have one. It just had the bed, a couple of nightstands, a dresser, a mini-fridge, and a narrow desk. There's no closet, just a couple of hooks on the wall. The bathroom was basic, with a prefab shower unit. The decor is limited to a couple of vintage lamps and some patterned fabric for the curtains. The bed was comfortable enough and the air conditioner was wonderful at keeping it cool. There's a window next to the door with a top block that isn't covered by a shade, so anyone could stand on a stool from outside and look in the room. I went looking for ice at about 3pm one afternoon. I knew the bar was closed that day, but the entire front office area was locked and no one was around. Summer is slow season, but I wonder what if there were something more urgent than ice? At least the off-season rates are quite low.

I like the area it was quiet, but still close to the Downtown stuff and walkable to a bunch of different things. Guess depending on the time of year, you might not want to walk as much. But I was able to get everywhere I wanted to go within 20 minutes walk. There are a ton of great food options all around as well as coffee, shops, and more. The staff was very accommodating and more than willing to help me out with an early check-in. The check in process was really smooth and all they needed was an ID as there was already a credit card on file with my reservation. They handed me a key and showed me my room and that was it. The room was super cute, I love the exposed brick and the decor. The only thing I would know is maybe request a top floor room as being on the bottom floor I could hear the people above me moving around quite a bit. However, it is a really old building and that's just life I guess.

This might be part of the charm though as the campus grounds and architecture will take you back to an earlier time preserved from the past. The Inn has a lavish formal dining room with intricate ceiling lamps, sturdy cross beams, and a roaring fireplace to host upscale dinners with family or a business client. There's a library was high ceilings, high backed upholstered arm chairs, and old books on the shelves all around. The center of the property has multiple well maintained lawns, flowers and fruit trees. While I have not stayed at Arizona Inn, I have dined there twice, once in the formal dining room and once on the more casual club patio and both have been pleasant experiences. Their menus have a wide variety of options from several meat dishes like beef bourguignon, steaks, to salmon, and even a vegetarian option. Prices are definitely high in the formal dining room. They have an extensive beer, wine and cocktail list and even offer several more upscale nonalcoholic drink options such as prickly pear lemonade and several mocktails. Both times that I have visited, the service can be on the slower end so plan to have a more leisurely visit without a strict timeframe to leave. Overall, a really interesting spot.

I was particularly interested as I'm a long time Tucsonan who appreciates our history and heard the place honors our history. The inn is located in an historic area and I learned a lot about some Tucson history from Amy who has done a wonderful job decorating the place. Each of the rooms is named for a person with history in Tucson. Each has a painting of the person represented and the painter included symbols in the portrait showing something from their history. The rooms are cheerful and modern with an in suite bathroom. There are several seating areas inside and out so no one would feel crowded. I enjoyed the section with a bookcase filled with books about Tucson and it's history that guests could enjoy. It is a bed and breakfast and options sound appealing. There is wine in evenings. So many touches for guests to feel at home. I will definitely recommend it to Tucson visitors.

The bed was fairly comfortable, although the pillows were a bit lumpy . Everything was in working order although the TV is somewhat small for the size of the room. Netflix did work great for us. Breakfast was very good and we appreciated the hot egg options, not just scrambled eggs, but also breakfast sandwiches and frittatas. There was also at least one piece of fresh fruit that we could have each day as well. The coffee in the room is pretty weak, so we ended up grabbing coffee from the lobby as it was a bit bolder and better tasting. Definitely would recommend this place, especially if you're looking for something that is longer-term
