    Mark Woodsmall, Esq
    Portia I.

I would highly recommend Mark Woodsmall and his Law Group, to anyone who has a special education related legal problem. After literally a decade of fighting with LAUSD to provide our nonverbal child with autism an appropriate education, Mark and his group were able to cut through the red tape and contentiousness and forge an agreement that allowed Dov to complete his education. Mark is a brilliant lawyer and at the same time a down to earth guy and dad, who has tremendous empathy and compassion for the disabled students he represents. His calm, unflappable demeanor puts all parties at ease, belying his deft legal skills and amazing knowledge of the law as it pertains to the educational rights of disabled students. We will always be grateful to Mark Woodsmall for his untiring work and perseverance that made Dov's education possible. Dov will benefit from this for the rest of his life.

Thank you for helping me and my baby!!

After years of frustration with my sons school district a good friend of mine referred me to Mark Woodsmall.

Great learning center. You can park across the street or in the lot next to this parking lot that…read morethe facility is in! Easy to find, go up the stairs and through the doors. There's a great waiting area inside or outside there's a courtyard and clean bathrooms to wait. They take your child back, tutor them and bring them back out when the session has ended. Clean, bright, and they do a great job with hiring caring patient staff. I recommend bringing your kid for whatever tutoring needs they may have. Welcoming, comfortable environment.

I took my daughter here for a couple of years. It's a very large commitment of time and money for…read morethe program they put the kids through. They "customize" the program to the child and use a lot of un-scientifically sound programs. Still, we were committed or perhaps desperate to help our child. After all the time and effort, I think what happened is that she just got older, and they called this progress. I don't think it was worth the time and especially the money. Most of the "clinicians" are young college graduates and they are friendly and follow the programs well. They are good people, but I voiced my opinion that I didn't think the program was being effective and wanted to make sure we were on the right track. I was repeatedly told that it was a part of the program and that we'd "see" all the work done as it begins to translate outside of their program at the very end of the program. At the end of the program, I feel like they just "finished" the program because they couldn't justify taking any more of our money and time. At the end we still have major behavior problems and poor grades, etc.

Like every business these days, they don't have enough workers and in this case, behavioral…read more"trainers" or "coaches" or some title for what they call the person coming out to work with my child. I've used them for about 2 years, on and off, and unfortunately, it's hard to find good special needs therapy organizations in Los Angeles. I have Anthem Blue Cross so I've used a couple other organizations but ALP tends to have better staff compared to others, but unfortunately, they tend not to stay for whatever reason, and we're stuck with another trainer, coach every 6-8 months. Although Dr. Gina Chang is listed as the president of ALP, she doesn't have any interaction with patients. Most interactions are with staff via phone or "trainers". The current one we have, Jennifer, has been great and I hope she stays with the company but she has been our 6th one in over 2 year period.

My son has been with ALP Since July of 2023. We have been through many therapist who have come and…read moregone. All the good Therapist end up quitting the company due to how the schedule their staff. And the ones they hire to replace them have no experience and probably very minimal training. When I addressed my concerns about my son's current therapist with the BCBA, I was just brushed off and Informed that they would not reassign my son to a different therapist who has more experience. They seem to hire just anyone. Also when we initially started with the company, they were forcing on us to do 40 hours a week when he initially was only approved for 25 hours. They seemed like they only want to bill my insurance and just send any random person to be with my son. We had also informed our developmental pediatrician about this and he agreed that they are only looking to bill the insurance. We have had great therapist during our time with ALP But all have either left the company or were removed from my son's case due to their own scheduling conflicts. At the end of they day, they do not care about your child's development but their own bottom line. To any parent reading this, please do your research and avoid ALP. Just because they respond to your providers inquiry fast doesn't mean they are good. I only wish there were more regulations and ways to report companies like ALP.
