Followed by one of the most amazing hot Reuben sandwiches with spicy pickles and homemade aeoli and a side of real fries Hubby had hand battered fish and chips which was cooked to perfection. Add to all of these wonderful gems was a great waitress with a pot of fresh coffee on an always refreshed cup... Folks this was a wonderful gem not far from I-35 and worth the extra mile or two... Osceola's Gem!!

I'm so glad we thought to order them AFTER our meals came, or I would've eaten the humongous pile as my meal. Delicious! Chicken Wings: they have "the good ranch" and the wings were really good. Dirty Bird: turkey and bacon sandwich, side of coleslaw. All was good. Personally, this sandwich would be awesome with stuffing on it, like a thanksgiving leftovers sammy! It felt slightly...lacking something, but my aunt liked it so that's all that matters. Rueben (forgot pic until half was gone): very good! Perfectly toasted marble rye, french fries piping hot and delicious. Once the fries and Rueben were delivered, that's when we realized we forgot to order the onion rings and ordered those as well. Sirloin & Baked Potato (forgot pic until halfway through my baked potato ): delicious! However, I'm a total sucker for baked potatoes, lots of butter and sour cream. Also, I was so enthralled with the onion rings, I really didn't touch the steak beyond tasting one bite. I did bring it home for my lunch today! So again...let's talk about these amazing onion rings! I love large, hand-battered onion rings, not a huge fan of shoestrings. These hit every mark in my book, and were 100% worth the 45min drive! ‍‍Service was excellent, highly recommend! Sometimes it's just nice to go for a little drive, which we appear to be doing more of lately! All for $75, plus $25 tip was an awesome meal for $100. Very affordable and top quality.

We were traveling home back in June of 2021 and this place was a surprising find!! St Joseph, MO…read morewas a dreary looking city. There were parts that looked on the sketchy side. The roads could use some serious work, but in the midst of the somewhat sleepy downtown area, we encountered Fredrick Inn. We noted several positive reviews in Yelp, but with the rundown look of the parking lot and the city in general, we might have passed on it. Glad we didn't!! We sat down fast and got our drinks in no time! Menu is chock-full of delicious options, but we spotted prime rib and decided on it right away! Not only did we get the best darn prime rib we've had in long time, but also we got unlimited soup and salad bar! The meat was cooked perfectly and delicious! Everything about our meal couldn't be better! They only do prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights, and it looked to me as if this is a big draw for Frederick Inn. The service was stellar and the place had a bit of an old world feel on the inside. They had craft beers and a full bar. Plus, I hear they are famous for their strawberry pie. I'm pretty glad we stopped there. Definitely added Frederick Inn on my bookmarks of great little restaurants so that if we come this way again, we'll be sure to stop by!!

By the time the waitress brought the hot sauce and my wine, my Chicken livers were half eaten and the remaining food was cold. My Husband wanted a piece of the raisin pie. The server said she would save him a piece and when it came time for dessert she said someone took the note off the piece of pie and served it anyway. All that was offered was an "I'm sorry" from the waitress. She said she would come back and see if we wanted anything else- 20 minutes she came back. No manager came back to apologize for the mistake, no offer was made to try and makeup for the error of the staff. The food was good but we can get prime rib at other local steakhouses less than we paid for the ribeye. The specials don't have prices listed and it's our fault for not asking, but they are significantly higher than the menu items. We saw out waitress maybe 4 times total our whole meal, while the other waitresses were actively chatting with their tables... the cost of the food would have been worth it if the service would have even been mediocre... I give the food 4/5 and the service 1/5... definitely will not be back because there even the apology offered by the server was offered with a shrug of her shoulders taking any sincerity she had off the table. This is a shame because the place came highly recommended by my co-workers

Before you read the novel below, I will summarize within the first couple sentences…read more We had heard about this small hole-in-the wall place and read rave reviews prior to reserving our table for a birthday celebration about a week in advance. We reserved for 4pm on a Sunday. 2 stars instead of 1 because 2 out of the 5 steaks ordered were cooked as ordered and were delicious. When we arrived it was to our surprise it was empty..no one else waiting/seated at the restaurant. It appeared to have one employee working, who happened to be the owner it turns out. We were seated and asked for drink orders and brought cans of pop, and told that Dr. pepper would have gone bad before it could get used so they didn't carry it. No big deal. Ordered a full spread of appetizers, didn't receive one item, asked about it and it was made and brought out. No big deal. Drinks were empty almost the entire time despite being the only table in the place and we were hardly checked on. Everyone ordered Rib Eye steaks except kids and one person ordered sirloin. We were told he was out of 10oz, so had to "upgrade" to a 12oz. All steaks were supposed to be medium rare. We were still the only people at the restaurant at this point...40 minutes later. The kids' items came out first, smart move. Then came my 12 oz steak which was burnt on edges, about 1/2" thick, and Well Done. Then, out came the 16oz rib eye and it was 3/4-1" thick, juicy and cooked to medium rare. As ordered. Then came my husbands steak, a 14oz cooked medium well and also about 1/2" thick the lobster tail was probably a 2oz tail and served meat side down on a leaf of lettuce...cold in the center. Then came the other 14oz that was about 3/4" thick, juicy and undercooked. Then came the birthday girl's 16oz and it was about 1/2" thick and well done. At this point, it was no longer a maybe because the 12oz was smaller it was over cooked, but a do they even know how to cook a steak? When I addressed the issue, I was told " Well, I cook on the plus side of what people order because some people say one temperature and mean another." I said "well, medium rare to me means warm red center. " He left and came back stating "I only have one steak left, so...." Just walked away. No apology, no explanation other than what was said. A table of 3 showed up about 5:30 and his attention went to them. We are business owners and know staff/supply shortages are real, we get it. BUT there is absolutely no excuse for the lack of service/explanation especially when charging over $20/$30 from a so called Wagyu bloodline that was over/under cooked 4/5 steaks. All he had to have said was, "hey, we are short staffed I am by myself, bare with me. I'm sorry it wasn't cooked to your liking, can I throw it back on or get you another/something else in its place?" But when you dismiss a complaint, offer no explanation, don't care to strike up a conversation with customers or even thank them for coming in there's a bigger issue. Especially when you shut down your Facebook page's option to leave a review after a message was sent directly to you regarding the service received is ignored. Something tells me maybe this wasn't the first time, maybe it wasn't an "off" night. Either way, reviews can still be left on other platforms and will be. We are not typically hard to please, be friendly, keep glasses filled up, bring us what we order and you receive a very generous tip and review. This was not the case here and people have a right to know what could happen during their visit especially since it seems any negative review is reported or replied to with a snarky come back.
