So insanely expensive, it makes no sense. I'm talking $5 for a bowl of soup expensive, at this little hole in the wall, middle of nowhere, 0 star restaurant. Oh yeah. Truck stop restaurant. Gotta gouge the captive audience. Might not be the greatest way to come back strong after Covid... About everything on the menu is breaded, fried or both. Food is really slow too. I ordered the soup, should have been ready the second I paid for it. Nope! 10 min later, I'm still standing here waiting. I hope they aren't making each bowl of ham & bean soup to order; I have no idea what the hold up is. Hopefully its so good, its worth the wait... Nah. The soup is starkly missing the vegetables. This is a truck stop restaurant, for truckers that want to overpay to eat as unhealthy as possible. No wonder they are dead on a Thur night at dinner time, today's truck drivers want something better. Oh well, at least they are over staffed, so no one should have to wait long for service.

Dried out cake.. Gross lol

Not too impressed... The slada was very average... The spaghetti special was average... The waitress seemed to be sidetracked by people at the counter... She seemed to be up there for a while...i asked her if they red pepper for my spaghetti but she said they don't have any... I thought that was weird for a restaurant... She also never brought me my drink, lol... The cake was maybe the worst I ever had lol... Imagine going to a Chinese buffet and stuffing a couple of pieces in your coat pocket only to remember them the next day... Well that's what this "cake" was like.. Super dried out, almost crusty-like, and very small portion... The Chinese buffet definitely has better cake lol.

Amazing Ribeye Carlos.

I was looking for a truckstop to park for the evening and decided on this one. First off looks are deceiving. Katie recommended the ribeye. Let me start out by saying the cook made this steak to perfection. The baked potato was perfect. Cole slaw amazing. The entire meal was PERFECT. Lol at a truckstop. I am completly stoked at how amazing this meal was. Hands down get the Ribeye. Soooo good. Worth every penny. John B

I'm not one to usually leave bad reviews, but I can't stress enough how bad this place was! It appeared to me that the locals get preference. The chicken fried steak was tasteless. Soft, not crunchy. The potato salad was terrible. Runny, like mashed potatoes. A roll? It's considered a side item, and not automatically with the entree. Lame! Service was slow. Tables piled with dirty leftovers from previous diners who made the mistake I did. Everything I would never desire in a restaurant. I noticed, the only ones who left good reviews are the smokers, who would write a good review on a feeding trough, as long as they could have their cancer with coffee.

a menu on a wooden table - The menu from Dinner Bell Cafe in Eagleville, MO, displays a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. It includes items such as breakfast sandwiches, breakfast plates, salads, sandwiches, and entrees like pork and chicken dishes. Prices range from $1.99 to $9.99. The menu features a logo with the text 'Eat Well at the Dinner Bell Cafe' and provides the cafe's address and phone number. The menu is printed on a white sheet of paper with black text and some decorative elements.

I like little places like this. A real diner, old school. The decor isn't modern and it isn't trying to be something its not. The chili was surprisingly good and the grilled cheese was what you would expect. I would eat here again.

In 2 words I can sum up this place...open late. That's the only reason to ever go here. If you eat here during the day there is something wrong with you. Great late night drunk spot to grab some greasy ass food. Nothing special in the taste or for sure nor in the nutritional areas. Many a drunken night was spent here in the college years well into the late 3-4am times. Plenty of smoking and women that look like men going on in here. I think I went in here after I ate some mushrooms once and wow that was a bad idea! Really going out in public on mushrooms is bad any way you slice it. But check out the dinner bell if you're on 35 headed north or south and just happen to be in Eagleville. You might as well pick up some fireworks too across the street at the gigantic firework store...but don't let em fool ya...the "giant" fireworks store isn't so gigantic...it's an optical illusion...go look at the south side of the building and you'll see what I mean...

The bartender happened to be the granddaughter of the owner and great granddaughter of Patty her self. Everyone, staff and costumers were friendly and made us feel welcome. We didn't try the pizza but they looked pretty good. If you like a little bit of shit with your coffee it's one of their specialties. I highly recommend the Australian Rubber Nuts. They're not on the menu you have to ask for them. Enjoy

Patty's Back Door in Grand River IA is one example of what I am talking about. The owners of Patty's are incredibly easy going and welcoming. This is a straight-forward, nothing fancy bar with a single pool table and standard American beers (Bud, Coors, Miller, etc.). They have an incredible jukebox with anything and everything on it (which I loved!!). I cannot speak to the food (we did not eat), just the cheap beers and down to earth conversations with other guests and staff. As a bar, this establishment (we were told) has been around since the 1940s and with hospitality and simple small town charm like this, it is no wonder. Patty's made Grand River IA a memorable place to stop.

I'm so glad we thought to order them AFTER our meals came, or I would've eaten the humongous pile as my meal. Delicious! Chicken Wings: they have "the good ranch" and the wings were really good. Dirty Bird: turkey and bacon sandwich, side of coleslaw. All was good. Personally, this sandwich would be awesome with stuffing on it, like a thanksgiving leftovers sammy! It felt slightly...lacking something, but my aunt liked it so that's all that matters. Rueben (forgot pic until half was gone): very good! Perfectly toasted marble rye, french fries piping hot and delicious. Once the fries and Rueben were delivered, that's when we realized we forgot to order the onion rings and ordered those as well. Sirloin & Baked Potato (forgot pic until halfway through my baked potato ): delicious! However, I'm a total sucker for baked potatoes, lots of butter and sour cream. Also, I was so enthralled with the onion rings, I really didn't touch the steak beyond tasting one bite. I did bring it home for my lunch today! So again...let's talk about these amazing onion rings! I love large, hand-battered onion rings, not a huge fan of shoestrings. These hit every mark in my book, and were 100% worth the 45min drive! ‍‍Service was excellent, highly recommend! Sometimes it's just nice to go for a little drive, which we appear to be doing more of lately! All for $75, plus $25 tip was an awesome meal for $100. Very affordable and top quality.

We opted for the ribeye and a patty melt. The ribeye was also very good sized and cooked perfectly. Brian thoroughly enjoyed it. I love steak but was embarrassed to order my normal "well done" in a place that obviously knows how a steak should be cooked, so I chose the patty melt. It was perfect. Tons of seasoned onions and cheese. The salad bar is lettuce, tomatoes, several dressings and crackers. It was all fresh though. The place was packed. Pulling up outside you see nothing buts lines of pickups. It was almost comical that this little small town bar draws the biggest crowd of anyplace around or even all the places around combined.......but then you taste the food and understand. Come as you are and don't expect frills. Most of all come hungry. A friend suggested the town of Arispe, IA (south of Afton) for their Saturday night prime rib at RoadSide Grill. Don't blink driving down Hwy 169 or you will miss it! Actually, no you won't because there were easily 50 trucks parked out front, and several more behind us. I grabbed a bar seat and ordered 2 beers, which were promptly served. We saw several patrons come in behind us, and decided we had better grab a table while we still could. We sat at a long table, meant for 8, and a lively 4-top sat next to us at the other end. It is a very lowkey and chill environment. Appetizer: pick 3 - mushrooms, jalapeño poppers and spicy Wisconsin cheese curds. I wanted gizzards and wings, but those come as a meal basket. Thus, we picked the 3 apps mentioned above. The fried mushrooms were the average, Sysco breaded mushrooms (not complaining, sometimes that's just what tastes good!). Jalapeño poppers, same story, basic Sysco poppers (I mean, it's fried cream cheese, what's to complain about?). Both were good but definitely premade. The spicy curds had some kick and we loved those w/ ranch. Salad bar: iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, tomatoes, croutons and dressings. Tub of cottage cheese for those that fancy it. 12oz Prime Rib: the whole reason for our roadtrip did not disappoint. Pretty sure I was served a 22oz, not a 12oz and I am not complaining about that! Wowza, the seasoned crust around the cut was so tasty, and the meat tender. I waffled between rare or medium rare, and decided to go with medium rare. Probably should've gone with rare, the medium rare was more medium than rare but whatever. It was still solid and delicious, even more cooked than I prefer. The au jus was fantastically salty and flavorful. Mmnnnnn! Served with a baked potato, slice of Texas Toast and oh yummmmmmm. I'm stuffed! 12oz Ribeye & Fried Shrimp: 4 basic butterfly shrimp with cocktail sauce, good. 12oz ribeye also fantastic, and also slightly more than med rare but not bad. Did not taint the awesome flavors and tenderness of this steak. Also served with a baked potato and Texas Toast. If you're up for a drive south of DSM, I HIGHLY recommend this place. Get in your vehicle and go for a roadtrip, you absolutely won't regret it.
