Went out fishing on one of their Perch Patrol boats with Devan. Awesome day; my sister and I both caught our limit of five walleye each. Caught my first walleye within 30 seconds of putting the hook in the water. Resort restaurant cooked them up for lunch for us both blackened and cornmeal crusted. Both were delicious and we're taking the rest home to share with our family in a couple of days. Nice that they have freezer space set up for guests. read more

Woodland Resort is the place to be. My family has been coming here for over a decade for our summer family reunions and it is my favorite time of the year every time! Incredible fishing, the kindest people, delicious food, and entertainment coming out the wazoo!! I have caught massive pike right off the end of the boat docks, the water is great for any type of water sports or even just cruising!! Highly recommend a visit if you're ever tripping to North Dakota. read more

Had an amazing four night, three day stay with ice fishing at Woodland! The motel isn't anything fancy, but clean, comfortable, quiet and perfect after fishing, and catching fish, all day! We were on the ice safely by 6:30 a.m. each morning and moved several times throughout the day to stay on the fish. Tommy Shields and his staff were simply incredible and beyond helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back, maybe even again this ice season! Fish on! read more

I can't imagine a better resort on Devils Lake!!! They have seriously thought of everything. Immaculate grounds, great cabins, wonderful restaurant and store, and fantastic service!!! This place has it all. Definitely has to be the best resort on the lake !! read more

I have been very disappointed. We arrived close to 8:00 pm with nearly a 5 minute wait at the hostess station and to be advised kids could only be in the Cove until 9:00 pm, as the bar wall is opened and a band starts to play. The overhead feed of music was very loud making it difficult for conversation. We ordered food which included an appetizer which after almost 30 minutes arrived with our meal. The first error came with the wrong an incorrect wine and a very poorly made martini. Nearly 20 minutes later we reordered the waters when the waitress arrived. The meal - while the child was to have a cheese burger, but it arrived with no cheese. The app which was brachetta arrived soggy. We were sharing a burger and rings, but never received the extra plate requested. I must say I was surprised at the burger and onion rings, which were both good. Good luck finding someone to help you as the waitress and staff were rude to one another and no one seemed to care. Example: when we were seated the hostesses rudely told by another staff to more her butt and suck it in to get past. It is unfortunate the loud noise and poor service of staff made this a very poor experience. read more

The ice fishing package is a terrible deal. My son and I have went the last 2 years and will never go back. This year we had 3 bites and caught 2 fish in 7 hours. You would think they would check on you more than once a day to see if you are catching fish. If not, move you to another house where your odds may be better. After all we are paying customers. We then decided to leave and not stay the night. They offered no sort of refund at all even though we did not stay in the motel. Not impressed and would not recommend this resort to anyone. read more

My family has been visiting Woodland resort for a few years now primarily during duck season. The rooms are very fairly priced, clean, and the staff is very friendly. The on site bar and restaurant meant we didn't have to venture into town for much and could relax after getting out of the field, and the best part is they offer game cleaning services. read more

Not sure what happened, but purchased American Plan a year in advance that included room, food and guided fishing. Room was old, cramped and stinky. Guided fishing took us to a lake 1 hour away - we never touched Devils Lake. The only saving grace was the food - 5 star. Never going back, except to eat. read more

Love the Cove. Great place to grab lunch or dinner and sit on the deck enjoying a beverage on a beautiful day. Lounge is cool and friendly. Woodlands resort is a great place on Devils Lake and the staff, service and owners are exceptional. read more
