Do Not Stay Here -- Unsafe, Unclean, and Completely Unprofessional…read more This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. After a long day of travel with two toddlers, we arrived only to be told that the room we specifically booked (with two double or queen beds) was not available. Instead, they claimed they were "upgrading" us to a room with one queen bed, a pull-out couch, and a kitchenette -- something we purposely did not book because it simply doesn't work for our family's needs. A pull-out couch is not an upgrade, especially when traveling with young children. Once in the room, things went from bad to worse. The TV didn't work, there were no linens for the pull-out couch, and when we asked, the front desk staff brought us one sheet and one pillow -- no full set, no comforter, and told us they didn't know where more pillows were. As we waited for more linens, we pulled out the couch and were horrified to find a bloody-stained mattress. That was the breaking point. When we expressed our concern, the hotel staff offered us two separate rooms, which again was not an option with toddlers -- we cannot safely split our family across two rooms. They then offered to call a neighboring hotel and pay for our stay there instead. We accepted, thinking the situation was finally being resolved. Unfortunately, it wasn't. When we arrived at the second hotel, we had to wait nearly 25 minutes with our exhausted children for the owner to arrive and pay for the room. When he finally showed up, he was abrasive, dismissive, and downright rude. He informed us -- very bluntly -- that he would only cover one night, not both nights of our original reservation. His "solution" was for us to go back to his hotel the next day and stay the second night -- after we had already packed up and moved once. I don't know about you, but I'm not taking my family back to a hotel with blood-stained mattresses, broken TVs, and no clean bedding. His lack of professionalism, hospitality, and basic human decency was staggering. This hotel is absolutely not suitable for families -- or anyone, really -- who expects clean accommodations, respectful service, and safe sleeping conditions. Avoid at all costs.

WORST property I've ever stayed at. While the room was "reasonably" clean for $80 a night, the…read morecustomer service was absolutely unacceptable. One front desk associate brought up politics, religion, and abortion during a casual conversation and became mildly aggressive when our views differed. I disengaged politely and left. When I returned, I gently explained that I wouldn't judge her but preferred to end the conversation. The hotel's towel exchange policy is fine in theory, but execution was awful. After work, my daughter and I gathered our dirty towels, and I sent her down to exchange them. The front desk woman yelled from the back that there were no clean towels--didn't even come out to speak to her directly. I called down, and was again told--rudely--that there were no towels and no idea when any would be available. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she was cleaning rooms (at 5:45 PM) and would call me. No call came. After 2.5 hours, still no towels and no call from a manager, so I called again. The same associate said she was folding towels. I told her I didn't care if they were folded, I just wanted a shower and asked her to bring some up. She got even more rude, saying, "We're not a five-star hotel" and that I could come get them myself. I told her after such a long wait, the least she could do was bring them up. Only after I mentioned contacting IHG did she finally deliver the towels. The next morning, I went down to get coffee before work. The coffee machine said it needed to be cleaned. I asked the same associate that had previously implemented the polemical conversation to run the cleaning cycle. She refused with a nasty attitude, saying she didn't have to do anything. When I asked for a manager again, she refused. I explained that I needed coffee before work. She finally agreed but claimed not to know how long it would take--even though she admitted she'd done it many times before. I asked if it was a 2-minute thing or 20. She started cussing at me in front of my 10-year-old daughter and told me to leave. I said I was going to work, not leaving the property. She continued yelling, and my daughter began to cry. Eventually, Samantha, the front desk manager, came out. I'd dealt with her during a previous stay and was hopeful she would help. Instead, she responded condescendingly: "It seems like you've had issues with multiple people here." Meanwhile, her associate continued yelling. When my daughter asked her to stop cussing at me, the associate yelled at her to shut up and get the f*** out. At that point, I said I wouldn't tolerate my daughter being treated that way and would return after work to check out. A week later, and despite contacting IHG, neither I nor they have heard from the general manager.

I had no cell reception (I have Sprint now T-mobile) so I could not verify it. Got to the room and the air conditioners say there is a wall panel (guess what there is not) called down to the front desk who treated us like they had no clue what we were talking about. No bedding for the fold out. Had to go down to the front desk to get. Hotel room itself was dirty. Stuff on the floor they obviously did not vacuum because the lamp cord would have had to be picked up. Shower curtain dirty with makeup smudges and black spots. Glass cup board doors were cloudy which I thought was how they were supposed to be but were not. Curtains in the bedroom were stained. I get they do not clean them often but everyone once in a while would be good. Staff not wearing masks, or not wearing them properly. Guests not wearing them either despite signage stating while in common areas to wear them. Hall way on our floor smelled like marijuana daily and the elevator also. Pet relief area trash can had no bag so we just threw our dog waste bags in there. It was never emptied the time we were there. Hotel is behind a Holiday Inn and others reported issues finding it. The pros: The recliner, spacious. Parking was ample. Most staff was friendly, greeting you upon entry or exit to the property. I got a good deal on staying here so I can't be too upset but I would not stay at this property again.

Good Value Hotel in the South Bend Airport Area…read more I found this Hotel on my IHG app while looking for Hotels in the area. I was in the South Bend area for business and looking for a Hotel close to New Carlyle. The price for a one night was what closed the deal. This is a budget-friendly hotel with large spacious clean rooms. There is no 'breakfast' at the hotel but they have vending machines and many restaurants close by. I found a nice sized kitchen area, a large desk/work area, a large comfy queen bed, and a large bathroom inside my room. Overall my stay was good, but the rooms could use a touch of modernization. The rooms lack USB ports but they have electrical outlets around the room, so I was able to charge most of my devices. The Wifi connection was strong and I was able to connect through a firewall to my company server to check emails and update my CRM. I did find streaming was okay as well as I went online for Netflix and Amazon Prime and have no buffering issues. I would have given this property 4 stars but cleanliness was an issue. I found dirty smudges on the entrance door, cup ring stains on the nightstand by the bed and hair in the drain in my shower (yech!!). Aside from that, the bathroom was large and relatively clean with plenty of towels and full shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the shower. The Fitness room had enough equipment for a basic workout. It had cardio machines and free weights as well as some other accessories. I got in a good 45-minute workout with weights and the cardio machine and also did some stretching (ROMWOD) on the only supplied exercise mat. Would I stay here again...yes, as the price is right but cleanliness needs to be improved and I would like to see a touch of modernization with USB and maybe USB-C ports in the work area and the nightstands.

Especially for the price and the location, I think this place is great!…read moreI was in town from a Wednesday thru Sunday for an event at Wings Event Center across the street. The location couldn't be more convenient! (though they could stand to have more parking). The lobby is nice and big, with couches and a TV, and there is a little convenience room that has small freezer items or some packaged foods for purchase, and coffee or tea complimentary for guests. There is also a "lending locker" that has a bunch of items available to guests. I thought that was a nice idea! I saw some board games, a crock pot, and some other kitchen items. Nice touch for families or people in town for a longer stay. There is only one elevator, so keep that in mind if you are in a hurry. There is no pool, but there is a workout room with weights and machines, as well as a laundry room. Laundry is free, but you need to purchase detergent and dryer sheets from the convenience area in the lobby. I did end up using the laundry room, and it was fine. The washing machine did take about an hour, so make sure to plan enough time if you'll need it. There is also a Business Center, though it's really just a tiny room with a computer. The rooms are a nice size. They have basically a full kitchen: fridge, dishwasher, microwave, small stovetop, with plates, glasses, and silverware. I had a king size bed, which was very comfortable. There is a decent size table in the room with an armchair as well as an office chair. The bathroom was clean, and had a pretty good amount of space. I was a little surprised that they only provide 2 towels since housekeeping is not done every night if you stay more than 1 night. I prefer not to have housekeeping done during my stay anyway. I didn't ask for more towels, so I can't hold that against them. Overall I felt like the place was pretty clean, and I appreciate the kitchen and amount of space. The staff was pleasant enough, and the location was perfect for me. If I come back to town for another event at Wings I would stay here again.

I was also informed by my supervisor that per our corporate contract, we are not be charged out of pocket for such fees. I checked out of my room on 1/21/25, I was informed the $75 charge would be released upon check out. Today is 1/30/25 and I have not received the reversal and my bank has no record of it. I contacted the hotel this morning to inquire about why it has not been received. The front desk agent I spoke with met me with hostility, rudeness, was loud on the phone and hung up on me numerous times when I asked for her name. She refused to take my information for management to contact me and told me no manager would be in today. When I asked about why I was charged more than other guests in my team, she stated they can charge what they feel like charging at checkin. Some are $10, $25 or what they see fit. These were her words, not mine. I realized then she was the agent that checked me in, she is an African American woman. I then asked her again, why was I (the only AA male in my crew) charged more than anyone else at check in. And she restated they charge what they feel like charging. I took this as racial profiling and unfair business practices by making assumptions based on appearance. I decided to write this review and post on all media outlets to make the public aware to book with caution and not to expect courtesy or professionalism when dealing with the front desk staff. they will gate keep from management, and if this is a management practice, they are avoiding accountability for their business practices. And when I asked her name was told " I told you that already" and hung up on me multiple times after I called back ! Horribly rude and disrespectful

It is what it is…read more The location is excellent. 2 direct, easy miles to the business park, 3 miles to WMU. Right along the highway. Grabbed coffee at Starbucks and/or McDonald's just down stadium, and was at my meeting in plenty of time! Bam! The rooms are clean. Simple, but up-to-date decorations. To be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised! Water pressure in the shower, excellent. Hot water. Mini fridge. Ample outlets. Good AC. Quiet neighbors. All good! Awesome price: $77/night with AAA discount. The mattresses were cheap and a bit worn: i could feel the springs if you slept on the inside side of the bed near the center nightstand, but the far side was better. I slept perfectly fine. The worst part was that I arrived (this was a week ago) after dark and noticed that some of other guests were kind of sketch. A lot of people hanging outside, Smoking, socializing.... I wondered if a significant portion of the clientele temporarily lives there, since they advertise "low weekly rates." And I saw two Uhauls there! But, everyone seemed nice and considerate! I only heard a dog bark once. That was all from my first stay there. In which case, I would have given at least 4 stars - maybe 5, considering it exceeded expectations in most areas. But, then, My SECOND stay (yesterday) dropped my rating down to a 2. Primarily because my room REEKED of nicotine/tar. I literally left my blouse in the car so it wouldn't soak in the smell for work today. (Yes, I could've asked for a different room -- not sure if they have non-smoking rooms?! --- but when I checked in (and interrupted her smoking break with a guest) the friendly, helpful receptionist mentioned that they had a lot of rooms that were out of service because the maintenance man is out of town at another property for a while....) fortunately, I quickly went nose blind to the smoke-smell. The second strike was that the ice machine was out of service (and it is cold drink weather!) and apparently had been all week (so there was nothing to put in the ice bucket that had something wet and smelly in the bottom of it)... the third strike were the bed springs I could feel, even on the far side of the bed... the fourth was no Kleenex box... the last straw was waking up to find that my phone hadn't charged because the outlets in the night stand were all too loose to keep the plug in tight enough. Sigh... too bad I didn't have a second stay like the first. I'm not saying I'd never try it again but I'd check the room for cigarette stench first. Honestly, I'd pay an extra $20 for a stay like my first room! It seems like hotel rates jump straight from $80/night to $130 for someplace up one notch... what's up with that?! You get what you pay for, I guess! Recommend if you are good with the very basic and maybe even a little less!
