So we just ordered from Golden Lion, Lancaster in thoughts of having a quick and easy meal as we…read morejust got back off vacation and can't be bothered making something at home. The only site we could seem to find the Menu was through Take-A-Way.co.uk So firstly we order - Won Ton Soup - £2.80 Beef & Tomato Soup - £2.50 (NOT one piece of Beef in the whole cold soup) Crispy Beef - Cantonese £6.20 (So little portion with more onion than meat and Crispy is the understatement of the Year, it was cold and nearly broke a molar on the stuff) Chips - £2.00, Cold, sweaty and looking suicidal. Curry Sauce - £1.50 (Not Ideal and no taste but was likely the best part of the meal as it at least warmed the cold side orders we were truly relying on). Now please keep in mind these are prices on their site, so with basic Maths this equals £15.00 even. I asked how much was the bill and they say £17.60. I was confused but just figured maybe they were throwing in some prawn crackers or a large Crispy beef instead of the small as the line wasn't the quietest call I have ever witnessed. I also realise that I might have to pay a £1.50 Delivery charge, but even this does NOT add up. So the lady arrives and hands me the package, I thought they would likely amend the cost after the miscommunication but this wasn't to be. She asked for £17.60, (not £16.50 inc del) As the rain was pouring and the delivery lady seemed pleasant, I added another £1 for her troubles and shut the door. I wish I had opened the bag before she left but the monsoon and the lack of need for the dish to be any colder, I decided to patiently wait until I was inside my own kitchen - silly me! £18.60 which for a very poor meal is not ideal for two hungry adults who threw most of the food into the Bin. We would have fed it to the Dog, but we have far too much respect for live animals than to torture them with this horrific food, (using this word very lightly) This miserable food was terrible, we ate what we could salvage after microwaving the best parts of the order, but the Beef/Tomato Soup, which was basically cold cabbage was completely left. The crispy beef ended up in the trash as I recently broke a tooth and did not need another heavy expense for eating these dried up shoelaces we were given. Even the 60% Ratio of onions and sad sauce couldn't bring these back into a hydrated state. After rewarming the Won Tom Soup was edible and the weak curry sauce just added more moisture and a little heat to the soggy lonely fries. This is unacceptable and daylight robbery, at least when Robin Hood would steal from the Rich, he gave it to the poor, I have a feeling this went into the owners pocket and the tip was likely taken from the poor delivery lady as she didn't bring him home my TV or the bike outside in my garden shed. I will not be recommending this Restaurant or the site as either the prices on the menu are not correct or somebody is over charging somebody in hopes they won't notice. I noticed! Jokers. This is the best Chinese in Lancaster. The food is just delicious and the service is second to none…read more- staff are very attentive and professional. The restaurant has a good atmosphere as it always seems to be nicely busy, and food comes out on time. A nice touch to have some peanuts on the table to snack on when you arrive. Highly recommended, we always take friends here when they visit and it goes down very well.

Other Qypers have suggested that the quality of the food lacks due to the quantity cooked, but I…read moredid not find this to hold true. Although the choice was a little smaller than other Chinese buffets I have been too, it was still great tasting. We were greeted well and the service was very very good, we were told that if we wanted anything specific they would cook it for us on demand. Additionally, they told us they were cooking everything fresh due the fact that we were a group of 8 persons. This was nice, as I was showed a more personal service. The venue is not large, nor is it small, but the small buffet cart seems like it would cause crowding and queuing at busy times of day. The price was £9 per head for the buffet (at time of writing), which is decent for a buffet, as you'd pay more for at a normal chinese restaurant meal in Lancaster, but its not the cheapest I've had. A selection of buffet desserts are also included. The whipy ice-cream machine was a favourite of my student friends. Although the selection is nice, and I will definitely visit again, I could imagine that I would not visit too regularly as the selection would soon become bland and the appeal of all-you-can-eat would soon bore. Don't take me the wrong way, its a great place for a decent chinese meal, but it lacks something extra special for me to continue coming and to get my final star of approval.

This all you can eat chinese buffet would get 5 stars if you asked my sun as he favours quantity…read moreover quality any day. But as chinese buffets go its not that bad you know. I've been several times at different times of the day and I've always managed to get a seat. The choice of dishes can vary depending on how busy the restaurant is and at times people can be sat with plates poised waiting for the next load of crispy duck to come out of the kitchens. There is a good selection of starters - ribs, wings, prawn toasts etc - and pretty good mains as well. It didnt seem too hot on vegetarian options when we were there last. Prices vary dependent on when you go with weekday lunchtime being your best chance of a bargain with it rising steeply on a weekend. All in all great for filling your boots with but not the best tasting chinese food in the world.
