Pros: 1. Dr Ritchie was a friendly gentlemen. Cons: 1. Lack of transparency regarding cost of appointment (way over charged and billing info was withheld from me until a month after my appointment) 2. The doctor spent 15 minutes with me and didn't provide any concrete solutions or direction regarding my health issues. I went in for a wellness check up and was not provided that service. 3. Front desk team is horribly rude, patronizing on the phone (I was hung up on and laughed at), don't listen to your concerns, and provide terrible customer service. Four employees ended up ganging up on me at the desk when I simply requested explanation for the dishonesty and lack of service provided. THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT THE CURRENT OFFICE STAFF After a 43 year doctor/patient relationship I have been summarily 'discharged' as a patient because the office staff has gaslit me and mislead Dr Wong as to the communication problems in his office. I have been unable to speak directly to Dr Wong, make an appointment with Dr Wong or follow his instructions for lab work to be done since January 2023, because the office staff spends their time trying to cover up their mistakes, incompetence or apathy, I can't decide what the office culture has turned into. I have contacted the office at least a dozen times since January 2023, by phone, in person and through the MyChart app. My calls have gone to the Answering Service during business hours with no return call or response to action requested, what? I have been told while standing in the office, 3 months in a row, that my lab orders will be emailed to the lab, yet nothing. No lab orders and no call to explain why. Then to be told 4 months into this adventure that Dr Wong hasn't written lab orders so why am I calling, what? I submitted multiple requests through MyChart to schedule an appointment with no response. When I asked why, I was told they don't get notifications from MyChart. When I asked why is that functionality available if it doesn't work, I was told to stop being rude, what? When I try to explain my situation I am told in a very condescending manner, Dr Wong has hundreds of patients and can't possibly remember the particular details about every one of them, what? At this point I was livid and told the staff person I have been Dr Wong's patient for 40 years and know he is a very busy doctor. I also told the staff person they were the rudest person I had ever spoken to in Dr Wong's office, EVER. I said goodbye and hung up. Even the updates to MyChart are inaccurate including the account balance and Dr Wong has gone unpaid for over a year because the office billed the insurance incorrectly and then never followed up, i.e. making me look like a freeloader... When I asked questions and tried to explain how to fix the error, I was told don't be rude, what? I have no idea what Dr Wong has been told but I do know that I have not been allowed to speak to Dr Wong to defend myself or even say goodbye to him or Mrs Wong. Although I knew the day would come when I would need a new doctor, this experience tells me Dr Wong is no longer in control of his practice because HE would never discharge me without speaking to me directly. It is with a heavy heart that I say I can no longer recommend this office to anyone. read more

Dr Wong is personable, capable and thorough. I've been seeing him for several years and every encounter has been edifying and met or exceeded my expectations for care. He is the first doctor who has ever sat down across a desk in his office to review the results of my annual checkups. I don't think you'll find a more caring doctor. read more

Dr. Wong has been seeing me since I was two years old. He has also been a wonderful doctor to my parents and my grandparents. He is gentle and takes time to explain things clearly, giving you the personal kind of attention that you don't get from big hospitals or larger healthcare systems. I strongly believe that family practitioners is the way to go for general healthcare. I started seeing Dr. Elisa Wong, his wife, for OBGYN around age 18. Its never really an enjoyable checkup, but she makes it as pleasant as possible. Definitely far superior to anyone I encountered in my University hospital. She is a great woman to talk to about any female concerns, and even told me some of her own personal experiences. That really helped me to feel like I was talking to a person, not a scientist. She also helped me get extra supplies before I traveled abroad. You may end up spending some time in the waiting room, but that's only because they won't rush you once you're with the doctor. I would recommend these two to anyone. Plus, they'll give you lollipops or stickers when you leave. Maybe two if you got a shot. read more

I'm sorry to say this doctor and his office has gone downhill in recent years. I've been coming here for awhile but will probably be searching for another doctor soon. Office staff is rude and Dr. Wong actually prescribed me a wrong medication and was quite belligerent towards me after I pointed out I got the wrong medication. read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because I actually really enjoyed my first (and only) appointment with Dr. Wong. I thought he was very personable, attentive, and kind. The wait time prior to my appointment was minimal and the front desk staff was helpful...at that time. After that visit, however, I was nothing short of completely disappointed. I was told when I left the office that I would be contacted to have an outpatient procedure scheduled to be performed by his wife. I wasn't given a time frame or an estimated date, but I also didn't ask for one. After a month of waiting to be contacted, I called to confirm that I was supposed to be waiting to hear from them and whoever I spoke to said they would put a message in for Mrs. Wong. After another month of waiting with absolutely no response, I called again, hoping for an estimated time frame. I was, again, told that I would be contacted once Mrs. Wong had availability. I should mention that I work as a receptionist at a veterinary clinic, so scheduling appointments and looking ahead on a doctor's schedule for availability are something that I consider to be very straight-forward. So the fact that, over a two-month period, his staff was unable to give me an estimated date is completely beyond me. After waiting another week, I thought that I would ask (since it obviously wasn't going to happen with Mrs. Wong) if it would be possible to have Dr. Wong refer me to a dermatologist. Again, "a message would be left" and "someone would get back to me." That was 9/15/17 and to no surprise, no response thus far. read more

Very difficult to get in to see as a new patient. Had to schedule 9 weeks in advance which I guess was alright. A week before my appointment they call and say the doctors going out of town and had to schedule me another 3 weeks out. So after 3 months of waiting for my appointment I go in to the office only to sit there for an hour after my appointment had been scheduled. While I was waiting I overhear the receptionist calling appointments to reschedule them as I guess he was going out of town again. Once I finally got into the exam room, He spent about 15 minutes with me and asked me to schedule another follow up exam in 6 weeks. In my opinion, it should not take 4 1/2 months to have an exam, even for a new patient. I will take my business elsewhere as I could not imagine having it be so difficult to get in to see my doctor. read more

I trust my health to Dr. Wong. He is intelligent, skilled and caring. The office may be old fashioned, but it works and the parking is great. He reminds me when I am due for my physical. I am reserving 5 stars for something completely off the charts. Dr. Wong is darn good in my book. read more

I have been a very longtime patient with Dr. Wong. He has been great, and even as I have moved about the area and my drive to get there has increased, I continue to go there. It would be hard for me to trust another Doctor as he has helped diagnose many issues and even assisted in a surgery I had many years ago. Also, his staff has always been helpful and friendly to me. Just a clue for some of the other reviews I have read, perhaps the reason there is a long wait for him is because he is really good and well liked. I imagine there is not much waiting for other doctors, but I wouldn't know. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Wong for one year. I went in for an appointment on Oct.4/19 after fasting. The office staff, (3) told me I was no longer his patient since Hill's Physicians had dropped me and I was now with Imperial Health. I called my insurance company (Anthem) and Dr. Wong spoke to their rep. He was unable to understand that he already has patients in the new group but he was not listening. So after the three office ladies finished yelling at me, I left. Now I have no G.P. and I'm looking for a new G.P. I have a rheumatologist and an orthopedic surgeon but have no idea if they will accept Imperial Health. We need a single payer health care system in this country to avoid all these middle men. As for Dr. Wong and his staff, I would never do this to another human being. I have a letter dated 8/30/19 stating that Dr. Wong would continue to be my primary care physician. I guess he forgot. Wonder why an office assistant didn't call me and tell me I was being dropped? I hope my next doctor and staff have more understanding. read more

I have been taking care of my elderly woman for the past 5 years, she has always seen Dr Wong. I have accepted the long wait even if we arrive on time. I have had my fair share of verbal disagreements with the front office staff as to me having to be a bit rude back to them. BUT TODAY! Molly the one whom was assisting me when I dropped in to pick up a prescription pad was the rudest of them all! I am irate! My dear elderly woman is 96 years old! I do not feel you treated me with respect what so ever! When you raised your voice at me, rolled back in your roller chair and gave me the smart ass smirk and continued to give me attitude.. By golly it took everything I had to remain somewhat calm in the fact that I didn't come over the counter and give you a lesson in customer service! I sincerely hope that Dr wongs office takes this complaint serious! We may be one in a million to them but we should be treated with respect at all times! Whoever answered the phone was really rude and patronizing when I thought that I was his patient because he was my pcp although he had not seen me yet. I was then hoping to make an appointment for myself and family, when I am told he doesn't see children! There are much more patient places to go. read more
