My entire family has been coming to Dr Wong for over 20 years. He is a meticulous dentist that is connected to other amazing people in his field. When I need a gum grafting, he recommended me to a doctor close by in Brentwood, who was so amazing and painless. When we moved away from the west side to the valley, I try going to another dentist, who took out my mercury fillings and replaced them and I had a horrific infection immediately after. After living with this pain for a week, I drove back to the city to Dr. Wong and he redid all the feelings that his other crappy Dentist did and immediately the pain went away. I trust him completely with myself but my children's mouth as well. Dr. Wong is an honest dentist who cares for his patients and doesn't upsell unnecessary services or products. I've had my fair share of dentists claiming I had multiples cavities in need of immediate attention. That didn't sound right...until I found Dr. Wong and was surprised after my first visit. He was honest about my dental needs (no cavities!) and didn't try to sell me on anything like electronic toothbrushes or fancy mouth washes. I really loathe going to the dentist entirely, but so thankful I found Dr. Wong who made the process as painless as possible. I found them by utilizing my insurance to see who was covered then cross referencing yelp reviews. He gets a lot of positive feedback because he is an exceptional provider from start to finish I was very uncomfortable and he knew I was anxious about beIng there and he went above and beyond to make me feel safe. Street parking is available. He is open on Saturdays which is great. His office is clean and well organized. He started with xrays. He proceeded to examine the integrity of my teeth. His hygienist cleaned and polished my teeth and I'm all set for six whole months. Professionalism displayed from start to finish. He even wrote me a thank you note after my appointment. I had anxiety about going to a new dentist today, especially because I hadn't been to a check-up/cleaning since before the pandemic. Upon arrival Dr. Wong and his assistant were excellent. Even at this stage in the pandemic they were extremely cautious w the COVID protocol (running HEPA filters in each room + lobby). During my exam and cleaning they were very communicative and thorough, but never in a pushy way. I also really appreciated them explaining the oral cancer screening and what to self examine for. The dentist I had for years retired and I had to find a new dentist - which I was a little stressed out about. I didn't think I would ever find someone as good who also took my insurance. I was completely off the mark. Not only is Dr. Wong a stellar dentist..better than my previous one in fact - he has a unique way of distracting me when I am anxious (I am a total dental chicken). Thank Goodness for Dr. Wong. I went into the office due to a tooth Ache. My main Dentist, Dr. Sakurai, was on vacation for the holiday, but my Anxiety did not let this stop me! I took down the name and number of the on-call dentist, Dr. Wong's office. Nervous and afraid, I called and made this appointment. Lucky for me, they had an opening 2 hours from when I called. Rushing to the office I was greeted by the staff member and the Doctor himself. I went right in, the Dr. Wong presence was calming and caring. I unleashed my concern and what pain I was experiencing, as he nodded and explained to me what may be the causes, I was relieved. He took me step by step through his process from, checking my mouth for cuts, Abscess, gum disease, items that may be causing this pain. He tested the tooth with hot and cold temperatures, he probed and scaled. He even took an x-ray.  I was relieved that the pain might be due to my sinus problem. He did explain to me If I feel any sensitivity to a certain temperature to come back. All I can say is my experience was perfect! read more

Dr Wong has been my dentist for 20 years. I've had my teeth whitened, regular cleaning, had crowns done and he's always gentle and meticulous. He checks in with me after having a crown seated to make sure everything was feeling okay. That never happened with other dentists I've tried before I found him. Laura, his assistant and office manager is wonderful as well. They're both very friendly. You don't feel like you're going to the dreaded dentist when you're there. I have been going to Dr. Wong for about 5 years now and I've been extremely happy with all the work I've had to have done. I've had fillings, crowns, whitening AND dental implants. I was recommended to a great surgeon that I trust who did my implant surgery and I'm now finishing up the whole process with Dr. Wong and now have all my teeth! (Was missing two permanent teeth). After each appointment, he calls to check in and ensure you're feeling alright and will recommend any fixes to ease pain that might have occurred pending the intensity of the treatment. I feel morally compelled to write about my shocking experience with Kenneth Wong and a distinct crossing of professional lines. I have never experienced anything like this. I recently moved to Santa Monica and was looking for a dentist. A colleague had found him on yelp and passed along the recommendation. My initial cleaning appointment went well and I got an overall good feeling. He told me I needed 2 fillings and 1 crown. I scheduled the follow up which his office later postponed. In the delay, my husband encouraged me to ask more around if 3 treatments were truly necessary since in my many years with my prior dentist I had never experienced this. Also the fillings were scheduled for late December so I wanted to check if I should split treatment to better utilize insurance. At my appointment, I began with these questions. Initially, Dr. Wong tried to answer. When I was having a hard time understanding and tried to reframe my questions, to my utter shock, Dr. Wong went into full emotional meltdown. He broke down into telling me he's having a very difficult month personally and proceeded to tell me several details of his personal life: a family member who was ill, details of their hospital stay, the stress on him, and ultimately the passing of that member. He said he could not handle difficult discussions (which I was certainly not being) or "tell me any more details of his personal life" (which of course I was not asking). He then advised me to FLY out of town to see my prior dentist because "the flight is not very long". Of course by any logic I am seeking a new dentist to trust and not advice on booking trips for double dental care. I was in so much shock as I have never had a medical professional behave unstably. We mutually agreed I could not undergo treatment in this state he was in. I asked the front desk to email me a copy of my xrays and they did. Two weeks later I received a fed ex that the he has decided to "terminate his dental arragement" which I realized is of course for legal purposes since this is behavior I can and really should report. I told the colleague about the incident and their family decided to also find a different dentist. I'm sure he's well intentioned and honest. But it's terrifying to picture someone performing a crown who is emotionally unstable. He clearly should have stayed home from work. And if I were a patient I would want to know about this incident. I hope he gets the counseling he needs in this period. read more

I'd like to start off saying I'm a dentist daughter! I've had the best care all of my life because only my mother and father treated my teeth! That being said I moved to LA and was terrified to find a new dentist. I asked 4 different people I work with that have beautiful teeth "Who is your dentist??" and I swear to you they all said "My Dr is Kenneth Wong, and he is the best!" I tried two different dentists but neither were the right fit for me. My friends referred me to Dr. Kenny- I decided to go because they spoke so highly of him. Dr. Kenneth Wong certainly is one of the best dentists I have been to. Yelp isn't always right, but when you have almost every single review 5 stars over a period of several years, that probably tells you something. I would summarize and say that his technique is at a higher level, his service is authentic, and he is very personable as well. The first two points are the most important when you are going to a dentist or any medical expert; the last point is a bonus. An example of what I mean can be illustrated in a routine cleaning visit I booked with him. He not only measured my gums (a first of the past 10 years in going to dentists in the US), but also left my teeth feeling cleaner than I can remember. His authenticity can be illustrated in that he does not try to push you towards procedures and does not pretend to be a specialist in specific procedures. What I mean is most dental general practitioners would do root canals, wisdom teeth removals on older patients, and other procedures and give advice on them. Dr. Wong will give his thoughts as well, but he would concurrently refer you to a specialist root canal person or a specialist wisdom tooth orthodontist whose job it is all day to look at root canals only or perform wisdom tooth removals all day if the situation warrants. I really appreciated this aspect of his practice. How it related to me is that I had a root canal done on my front tooth 20+ years ago. Every general practitioner dentist over the past few years recommend me put a porcelain veneer on it (which would require shaving off part of the front tooth, and require maintenance and replacement after a certain amount of time). Dr. Wong took a look and noticed that the backside looked like it could use some smoothing - he was the first to point this out. Dr. Wong then recommend me see a specialist root canal person Dr. Brandon Seto (a 5 star root canal specialist) to evaluate the root canal to see if it was done properly, has held up properly over the past 20 years, and get his opinion of if a veneer would be necessary over the front tooth. Everyone's situation is different, but in my case, I was advised that it was probably not necessary to get a veneer for structural reasons. Thanks to both recommendations, Dr. Wong saved me from shaving my front tooth down in a procedure that probably isn't necessary. He also referred to me a wisdom tooth removal specialist who I haven't had a chance to go to yet. The reason he is referring me to a wisdom tooth specialist is that for adult patients who have wisdom teeth close to a nerve, you want a specialist performing that operation (rather than a general practitioner). This makes total sense to me and after going to the specialist root canal guy, I am totally convinced that it does make sense to get a specialist to opine. Finally, just one last point on how thoughtful and kind of a person he is, he didn't even push me to do X-Rays (I brought in my previous X-Rays from a couple years ago), knowing that I might have other procedures that might eat into my insurance max amount this year. So he told me to go see the specialists first, see what I need done, see how much I have left over, and then do X-Rays next time. I have never had this experience before. I felt compelled to write about my experience with Dr. Wong here given all the above. Hope this is helpful, if you need a second opinion on something or want to have a good cleaning, would highly recommend go to him. Been going to Dr. Wong for over 10 years and his expertise is second to none. He is very thorough and meticulous in both his care and follow up. I have had a number of teeth issues from crowns to root canals, and he is quick to diagnose and treat. During this time of Covid, he utilizes the safest protocols from full PPE to HEPA filters to ensure safety for all. I wish I could award more stars to Dr. Wong and Laura. They are not only amazing professionals but wonderful people as well. Dr. Wong has completely changed my smile and probably saved me from developing heart disease at an earlier​ age in part by strongly urging me to have my wisdom teeth removed. No other dentist had ever told me about the correlation between heart disease and the failure to remove one's​ wisdom teeth. Previous to Dr. Wong I also had spotting on my teeth and assumed that bleeding gums were unavoidable. I do not drink alcohol/soda or smoke so the spots, in particular,​ had been a mystery for some time. At his direction,​ I cut back on my smoothie consumption and as a result, have not spotted or bled in the past several years.
