My three year old experienced her first camp at HELLO DANCER!…read more The owners, April and Thomas, as well as all of the staff at Hello Dancer, go above and beyond to make sure that every child and every parent is welcomed warmly. From the bright colored walls to the smiling faces, you just feel all of the positive energy when your walk through the doors!!! While class is in sessions, there are multiple teachers to assist in caring for you're child. As I watched from the one way glass, I saw an instructor who was also a mom, walking around and making sure that every child was engaged and felt comfortable during the class. Hello Dancer gives a child a stress free, Loving environment where a child can learn to "move, wiggle, giggle, smile, twirl, leap" and much, much more!! Thanks, Hello Dancer for giving children the opportunity to love dance and build confidence while also letting them experience a little bit of magic through all the fun activities that you incorporate!

IPAL (Iberia Performing Arts League) presented Les Miserables, Student Edition, as its 6th Annual…read moreSummer Youth Musical. The 2.5 hour production, with a cast of 44 students aged 8 to 18, was a pleasant way to spend a Saturday evening. After only 35 rehearsals, these young thespians, appearing on a set that they and the crew constructed, sang beautifully without a missed line. With such a large cast and lengthy performance, I lack the time to give a full review that gives credit where due. It is safe to say, however, that these youth have as much spirit and talent as any adult production to have graced the stage of IPAL. These youngsters are carrying on in the tradition of IPAL which is known locally as "Broadway on the Bayou".

I won't take another instrument there. I had a warranty repair on a brand new 3 day old Gibson I…read morebought from Sweetwater. It was feeding back horribly. I've been building guitars for around 8 years now, so I know my business. My first impression when I dropped it off, was they weren't happy it was a warranty repair, although they are a Gibson Authorized Dealer and Warranty Center. I explained the problem and asked for the tech to call me, a week went by with nothing. When I asked on progress they didn't have a clue they even had it and this is not a big box store. A week later I called again, "oh, it's ready". When I went to pick it up it wasn't fixed, their story was absurd about it's the nature of the pickups (it's not) and they ended it with, it must be a B stock. It isn't. My thoughts are, they just wouldn't honor the warranty and waited for me to come pick it up. I would never entrust Lafayette Music with any of my gear. The attached picture is why I know they never looked at. That would have been their first clue.

One Star - Predatory Business Practices…read more We rented a saxophone from Lafayette Music Company last summer. The return deadline was June 1st (which fell on a Sunday). We tried to return it five days later and were told, "Too late - it's yours now." No warning, no reminder, and no option to pay a late fee. Just a hardline stance: either pay Tower Loan $1,200 or continue monthly payments at 28% interest. They didn't send any return reminders, and they don't give you an electronic copy of the contract. It feels like they're hoping you miss the deadline so they can lock you into a high-interest loan. We tried to negotiate in good faith and were told flat-out, "It's your problem now." Absolutely unacceptable. I won't do business with them again and will be warning others to steer clear.

Santikos took over the Grand Theaters and set about ruining the movie experience. Prices are up but…read moreservice is down. You stand in a concession line, pay for what you want, get your own candy (one wonders how much they lose in theft that way), pay the high prices and are gifted with empty containers for you to fight other patrons to fill your popcorn and your drinks. No one to purchase tickets from; you either do that online and pay extra fees or the kiosk at the theater. Oh and don't purchase a daquiri because Santikos cannot price in styrofoam into the $18 price for a daquiri, so your hand will freeze. We saw Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition recently at the Johnston Street location and the theater sounded like it had one front center working speaker set to LOW volume; you could easily have conversations with people next to you, even several seats away. Total garbage, especially for a music documentary. I guess they didn't expect many people, so screw those fans because I heard sound blasting out of other theaters. Don't waste your money or your time. Movies are much better and cheaper at home with surround sound and you'll get better service.
