I came here for the first time this past weekend to finally sign up for my library card. I'm…read moreimpressed, even surprised, by the quality of this library for it being in Lubbock. Also, this location was my only choice because it's the only branch open Sundays. The collection is entirely on the main floor. When you come in, fiction is mostly to the left and through the center, children's in the back left corner, non-fiction center back, and a huge section for genealogy research in the back right corner. In the front right side and corner is a computer area open to all visitors - it seems like a first come first served situation. There's also an armed police officer who seems to be always on duty here at a desk near the front. It's actually my first time seeing this in a library, and I come from a much larger city. Staff was helpful in getting me signed up. Probably the greatest benefit is in being able to join the Libby app for ebooks and audiobooks. But nothing will beat the brick and mortar library for things like graphic novels and a nice focused place to study.

Lubbock's central library, Mahon, is near the Civic Center in downtown Lubbock. Plenty of…read morecomputers, always a cool place to hang on a hot summer day, and a small, but decent supply of fiction and non-fiction books. For a growing city, I think they should be expanding their stock of books, but you can generally find a book or two on your topic of interest.

If you're a Tech student, the Library is by far one of the best places to study…read more They have at least 3 floors, and a basement, all which have computers available to you. On the main floor theres a help desk where the workers are very knowledgable and are always willing to help you or direct you where you need to go. If you're not comfortable studying or being around people, they have study rooms available that you can book online through the TTU website. The parking lot is HUGE so unless it's finals time, you'll always find a spot. There's a little cafe to the right when you first walk in, but it is only open during certain hours. It has a lot of different things to choose from. The library also offers free wifi and WEPA printing.

LOVE this library. This is where I came to work rather than my on-campus office (I was a Graduate…read morePart Time Instructor at the time). Amazing set of stacks, a 3D Design lab with gaming software, and the whole downstairs (main floor) has been redone since I came in 2008 with projection screens and collaborative pods for group work. It is a dream come true for group projects! Really great use of its funding. Thanks Mike Leach! And others. Illiad always got my article requests quickly and correctly. Often has in-progress work presentations, like poster sessions, for undergraduate and graduate research. Lots of tables for working, little cubbies for privacy, and good wooden chairs that you can sit in for hours without getting sore! :) Love this library and I probably spent 50% of my 5 years of PhD work in its halls.

This is a wonderful public library. The librarians put so much care into keeping it looking nice,…read moreclean, welcoming. They really think about the collection items their patrons will be interested in, and host educational events/speakers that bring value to the town. The children's section is clearly a labor of love and there's even a cozy fireplace in the back of the adult section. I felt so welcomed by the staff when I visited in April and will look forward to returning.

This is literally the tiniest library I've ever visited. It is wedged in between two larger…read morebuildings so it may be a shock to see how small it is. The librarian isn't very friendly to outside guests. When I walked into the public library the lady asked me could she help me. As if I was lost. That's not a nice welcome. I told her I needed to study and she kept repeating herself.. big table in the back as if she wanted me immediately stop talking to her. Most of the walls are taken up by books along the shelves and against the shelves may be one or two chairs for visitors to sit. The decor which lines the walls are mostly Texas based to single framed picture of an older designed house, with a windmill adjacent and yellowed to dead grass is portrayed, you'll sense the rustic feel when you're inside here. They also have a huge chimney furnace in the middle towards the end of the library. Must be such a light show to see as mini lights and red coal light up. The same lady that questioned me seemed a little off. She so bored to a point where she started dusting the book shelves. Then while I was studying she notified me of a rat that crawled into the air vent my vehicle. It was very strange to me that she told me this. Either she didn't want me there or she always does this to visitors. Either way it's very poor conduct. I'm not sure if Post is a racist little town, but the lady inside the library didn't seem too polite to hold a conversation with me. She even told me that she would hate for the rat to be killed. I checked underneath my hood and didn't see a rat sooo maybe she is delusional and suffers from psychosis. I don't know but there isn't a restroom inside with is very inconvenience unless the paranoid lady inside lied.
