It's a peaceful place to learn and be around wonderful animals and the people that care for them. It's not a place for running around and screaming and the good news, is we didn't see any of that. The kids and adults were so respectful and gentle, as guided by the workers. There were a few trails to explore, keep in mind there is a lot of sun exposure, so prepare accordingly. We didn't get a chance to go into the new building, but we spent time exploring and then walked up a ways to the "camp store". I bought a beautifully made necklace by a local artist. We loved the fact they have designated parking AND an EV charger we could use. read more

We came for the Farmer for a day program for my almost 5 year old and he loved it. He got to help feed the sheep, the goats, chickens, and rabbits and he got to pet them all. The two farmers handling the experience were very knowledgeable and great with kids. I definitely recommend if you are in the area! read more

We visited mid-day on a Thursday and the center itself seemed bustling with activity from both campers and day students. Our initial stop was at the Farm Cafe which is now operated by Maggie Mae's of Yarmouth. Unfortunately the food and service proved disappointing with the our hot dogs seemingly taking forever to be prepared. On receiving our food we sat at a picnic table only to discover the roll was un-grilled and quite literally cold like it had just been removed from a cooler. The hot dog itself was barely warm so why did it take so long to be prepared? Fortunately the remainder of our visit was more enjoyable with several short walks leading us to various portions of the property. Lastly, we visited the Wishcamper Livestock Education Barn that houses farm animals such a chickens and goats. A large group of students were enjoying a lecture on the grounds immediately outside the barn. Unfortunately a large portion of the property running along the bay appeared to be restricted to campers so we cut our visit short. Regardless, we enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to return though we will be bringing our lunch. read more

A great place to visit when we're in the Freeport area. We have a dog and she loves the woods and the water. There are plenty of sticks around for our little Corgi to shred. We usually spend over an hour with each visit. We got to Freeport year round. No matter how hot or cold it is, we always go there. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. It is such a gorgeous space, and it is so fantastic that it is open to the public. Such an incredible resource for locals and tourists alike. The trails are beautiful, and kids just love being able to see real farm animals up close! I was disappointed to see the old red barn was taken down and replaced with a new building, but I have always loved visiting here and will continue to do so in the years to come! read more

Don't make the trip! Drove over an hour out of our way to visit the farm cafe! Super excited to try their local greens! Showed up around 2pm, and when going to order, was told they are closed! Really cool! I went here with my mum and dad in the summer and we all enjoyed it. We rented kayaks and paddled around the bay. There was a small island that is home to many osprey, and we were able to paddle all around it.we paddled under a bridge into a brackish area in which there was lots of neat plant life. The farm stand sells cool stuff, I got a maple lollipop and a drink of some sort, it was good. They have a community garden and farm animals. In the field they have a mobile chicken coop and like a trillion chickens. The staff are nice, and the campsites are quite cool. They have trails and other things of that nature. Probably one of the coolest places I've been to. read more

This farm is close to our house and my son loves visiting the animals. The farm is open to visitors everyday from 9-5. They have cows, horses, goats, chickens, pigs, ducks, sheep, and rabbits. It's perfect for young kids because they can walk around the barn and check everything out. Outside they have trails that are open year round and great for families. It's right on the water and is absolutely beautiful. Word on the street is that they are going to have a farm share this year...can't wait to hear more about it. They also have a family and adult barn dance in the summer or fall. Can't wait to check it out because it sounds like a lot of fun! Brought my son to the fall festival. It was so much fun. Tractor rides, pumpkin patches, face painting, live music, lots of animals, mazes, and locally supplied food from smoothies, wood fired pizza to a couple of local food trucks. I wish I took some pictures but I was little busy eating and keeping an eye on my overly excited toddler son. But everything I had was great and I ate like a large farm animal. I had a smoothie, a wood fired pizza, a falafel wrap, and some hand cut fries. Will go again every year! read more

It's free to just look around. A good way to kill an hour if you or your kids like animals. We love this kind of stuff so it was a lot of fun. I know way too much about farming and animal husbandry for a non-farmer. It was muddy and poopy; this is a farm, after all. But it was way less stinky than a lot of farms we've seen. We saw ducks, ducklings, rabbits, chickens, feathered chicks, sheep, lambs, cows, young cows, and calves. The lambs were so cute! The kinds of chickens they had were not that exotic: barred Plymouth Rocks, feather-footed giant cochins, New Hampshire reds, buff Orpingtons. The outside chickens seem more loved than the ones in the cage inside the barn. They had lots of space to about a dozen, and a pan of milk as a treat. There were many more crammed into the cage, and they were in there with at least one rooster. The feathered chicks had nipple drinkers. The young cows outside were funny and cute. They were eating on their hay, and one was giving me the stink-eye like it thought I might steal some hay for myself. :D The ducks outside didn't look like they had a house to go inside like the chickens. There was bedding under the rabbit hutch, so maybe they just go under there? Doesn't seem like enough shelter for the winter. It was interesting to see the young calves, who still had part of their dried-up umbilical cords hanging from their tummies. But it was sad to see the calves penned separately - they looked so lonely! I wonder if they miss their moms, seeing as they are still infants. My husband guesses it's so they can monitor their milk intake, but it just seems cruel, especially when they gave milk in "Peach Teat" drinkers to some calves and not others at the same time -- you could see the sadness in their big eyes: "Where's mine? Why don't *I* get any?" I thought because it was organic they would be kinder to their calves but I guess organic or not they don't want the calves with mommy all the time and eat into their milk production. This is not like the organic and raw farms in California or in Pennsylvania Amish country. I noticed the sheep weren't docked and some had a lot of poop on their tails. I read that docking sheep tails is a cruel procedure that involves removing the tail past the backbone into the vertebrae. It's extremely invasive, but the alternative is they get poop on their tails and become susceptible to a parasite that eats sheep from the anus in. I can't decide which is the lesser of the two evils there. But I guess they don't have the time or people to be washing the poop off their sheep all day long. read more
