I have been a long time customer at this Midas and others... This hurts to say... But, *WARNING* do…read morenot take you vehicles to this Location or any of the Midas locations in the Des Moines, Iowa area. I have a rusted 2002 Dodge Dakota that has seen better days. But, It is my work truck and I am finally starting to fix it up. I brought the truck into get the torsion bars adjusted and a tire allignment. After pulling the truck in the bay, the Tech wants to show me under the truck. He points out everything wrong with the truck except the torsion bars. Proceeds to tell me that he cant adjust the ride height on the truck because the shocks are blown. As a mechanic myself, unless the shocks are coil over shocks or there are coils on the axle it has nothing to do with ride height. Then the story changed to the Torsion bars not moving... I asked him if he could test to see if the torsion bar would move, could he do the job. He gets 4 full turns in the wrong direction on each bar. Then proceeds to tell me that it won't do anything for the ride hieght because of the shocks again. This is only part of the story. But, skipping ahead I ended up contacting the Area Manager of Midas and had a chat with him. He proceeded to agree with me that the shocks have nothing to do with the ride hieght on that truck. That the reason the mechanics didn't want to do the work was because the parts where rusty, and I agree the parts are rusty. But, here is my issue. Why Lie, why tell me an audacious story about leaking parts and shocks and exhaust leaking. When all they had to say from the beginning is, Its rusty and we don't feel comfortable doing it. And, why if it is so rusty and the mechanic not feeling comfortable working on it did the Tech give 4 turns to each bar in the wrong direction if they where uncomfortable working on it in the first place... Long story short, I never thought the Techs and management would lie to a customer. I was wrong... Watch yourselves eveyone...Midas is Bad...

I came into this Midas just because I knew they did same-day service, I was nearby, and needed a…read morequick oil change/check-up. I have never used (any) Midas for service before. I am sure I am similar to most where...even it's just an oil change... I keep pretty guarded when taking my car into a shop. I think most auto mechanics have done some studying of improv theater because when I go in for an oil change they can follow-up shortly with a "yes, and...". Classic game. I was pleasantly surprised. Both on the customer service and price. The service manager was professional, courteous, and very communicative on what they saw with my vehicle. It was a check-up so I expected some findings but what they found they actually gave alternatives that were more cost effective. - I needed more coolant: they told me they could fill it up for a price but if I just went to a parts store I'd save $5+. - i had a very small hole in a tire: They recommended just going to the place I purchased the tire. They may have a free replacement option. - They also didn't do a full tire rotation because of the tire. So the they didn't charge me for it. After it was all done, it was under an hour. I will say it was a bit pricey for all they did NOT do, ha...but somewhat fair considering their time and pointing those things out. All-in-all it was a good experience. I would recommend them if you need just a quick overview of your vehicle. I don't live near it, but if I happen to be around and need work to be done, they're definitely in my considerations.

Its taken me awhile to post this since I felt that I needed time to compose my thoughts about the…read moresituation. I'm not trying nor do I want sympathy for what I'm about to exp!ain. Over memorial day weekend I was informed by my sister that she had a mini stroke and had bells palsy on one side of here face so I did what anyone else would do I immediately got on the interstate to go be with her. On my way to dsm my oil change light came on so I took my 2017 Nissan Rogue sport to the Tires P!us off of Mere Hay Road to get serviced before heading back home to Omaha Ne. Unbeknownst to me at the time one of the technicians had broken my air filter housing assembly elbow which allowed to much air to get into my engine which made a mass air sensor fail. I came to realize this only because the check engine light came on when driving home from work. I took it to Woodhouse Nissan in Omaha where I and my husband were informed that it would cost around $1000.00 to fix. Once we gave to go ahead to start the work we were called and informed that the price was going from $759.10 to over $1200.00 (labor and tax not included) due to Nissan redesigning it. Being that I was told by Woodhouse Nissan that this part was broken at the last p!ace my car was serviced which was Tires P!us I immediately filed a claim which they later denied. Verbatim from the c!aims specialists from Tires p!us in dsm: the executives have made a decision and they have decided to deny due to the following: i had driven 2376 miles since they serviced the car and light would have came before and Nissan is/was aware of this part being easily broken hence the reason why they redesigned it. They are negating the fact that one of their technicians broke the part in the first place. I haven't even had my car 6 days after just picking it up on Friday 19th before the check engine light came on again and had to drop my car off again on Wednesday 24th so I'm still not done dealing with it. I'm blessed to be able to pay for this repair but I don't think its right! Furthermore, with Nissan redesigning it instead of issuing a recall I can't help to think about all the other Nissan customers that at some point will be dealing with the same issue and they may not be able to afford the repair. If I cam save just one person from going through what my husband and I are going through then posting this and reporting them to the BBB will have been worth it.
