As my husband and I were looking for wedding photographers, we came across Nick's work just by browsing the internet (and reading Yelp reviews such as this one). We really liked the style of the work on his website, so decided to schedule an initial consultation. If you're reading this review, you probably know it's easy to find photographers with a great portfolio online, but what really made Nick the standout winner in our book was his working style, his great communication skills, and his always putting the couple first. After our initial meet up, we knew Nick was the photographer for us! Nick also includes engagement photos as part of the package -- we initially thought we didn't need it, but boy were we glad we got them. Not only did we use them for the save the dates and wedding website, but the engagement shoot was a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera, making the wedding day with Nick a breeze. It was amazing to see what Nick as a one-man team was able to capture. Throughout the ceremony and reception, he was able to capture not only the big moments, but also the warmth of small exchanges throughout the night that ultimately made our photos so special. I would give Nick a 10 star review if I could! He shot our wedding on September 30th, 2017 and my husband and I could not be more thrilled with the photos. We booked him for 10 hours (at an incredible rate) so he was able to capture the entire day, from getting ready all the way up til the amazing dance party at the end of the night. Going through all the photos made me feel like I was reliving the day all over again- he truly captured the emotion and the spirit of the day. Nick is a real artist and it shows in his work. He was extremely professional to work with, but also an awesome and great guy, someone you'll want to be friends with after the wedding! We chose Nick as our wedding photographer based on prior work showcased on his website. His photos really stood out to us because they seemed different than all the others. It seemed as though Nick had an ability to capture moments naturally. Other photographers' work seemed too staged and posed for our preference. Nick's pictures just seemed so real, and in the moment, as if he was actually capturing all these special moments... which is exactly why you hire a photographer, right? Nick encouraged us to join him on an engagement shoot so we could get to know each other. It didn't take long to recognize we made a great decision. We went to one of our favorite hiking spots with our dogs, and Nick tagged along and took pictures. We got to know him, he got to know us, and a couple of weeks later we had some amazing photos that we absolutely loved. His ability to be comfortable, funny, and professional while simultaneously nailing all the pictures is very, very impressive. By the time the wedding came around, we were honestly excited to see him. If you have any reservations about being in front of the camera, or if you are dreading posing for picture after picture, Nick will put you at ease. You might even actually enjoy it, he's that cool! My now wife (!!) and I worked with Nick for our May 19th wedding this year, and really couldn't be happier! All photographers have different styles, so I definitely recommend checking out his website to make sure it matches what you're looking for, but the moment I saw his photos I called him up and had all the contracts finalized within an hour or two. Super quick and super nice! Our engagement shoot went super well also (comes with the wedding package). It was actually more of a pre-wedding, get to know each other shoot, but it was a great time and Nick was super flexible with when and where we wanted to shoot. He was really amazing throughout the process. On the wedding day itself, everything went perfectly, and Nick did a great job of being strict enough to make sure we got all the pictures he knew we'd want, but flexible enough to give us some time to socialize during happy hour as well. Great balance there! And then after the wedding, we actually asked for a few photos he sent over in black and white to be in color as well, and he did that for us without hesitation. Both the level of skill and service impressed us throughout, and I really couldn't recommend Nick and more highly. We're so happy with how everything turned out =) read more

Nick is hands down amazing. We had quite the year and Nick photographed all our big milestones (engagement, wedding and newborn photos). He's easy to talk to and get along with which makes having your photo taken (when you normally avoid it) much more enjoyable and the photos turned out great. We have amazing candids AND more guided photos. Nick managed to nail every single one of my family portraits--and there were a lot of permutations. Besides the great photos and lovely rapport, Nick was a huge help for me because I was in a rush to get married (8 weeks of planning!) and he helped me get my DJ and my florist! He has a lot of experience in the wedding industry and is well-connected to and well-loved by other vendors. I appreciated Nick so much that I begged him for newborn photos. He is warm, funny, responsive and very reasonably priced. I really encourage anyone to have Nick photograph your life events and really anything else. Nick is a stand up guy, professional, fun to be around, and most importantly, takes beautiful, vibrant, and powerful photos. He has an incredible talent to make you feel comfortable and like you can be yourself in front the camera. He was willing to go to multiple locations for our engagement photoshoot, and always checked in with us before moving to the next location to make sure we were satisfied with the shots he captured. We absolutely loved working with Nick on photography for our wedding in May 2018 and would absolutely recommend him to others. Working with him was a breeze- he was super available, responsive, and friendly. We loved how he took time to get to know us even though we were planning from afar; for important convos he would always gladly hop on the phone and he was super flexible in finding time to meet with us in person one of the few times we were in California while planning our wedding, squeezing in an engagement shoot during a holiday week. On the day of our wedding Nick was great- incredibly professional and present, but also able to blend in seamlessly to the crowd too. He had no problem directing people where necessary to get the photos we wanted (lots of family members to wrangle!), but never wavered from his easygoing demeanor. Quite a few of our family members and guests went out of their way to tell us how great he was and a couple of people even asked if he was an old friend because he seemed to fit so naturally in the day. As the couple getting married, we spent quite a bit of time with Nick, and were so grateful we ended up with such a relatable and easygoing photographer. Neither of us loves getting photos taken and Nick put us at ease. And the photos are amazing! We loved Nick's ability to document many of the candid moments throughout the day with memorable photos and appreciate that even the more posed portraits look comfortable and natural. Nick was by far one of the best decisions we made for our August wedding, and we could not be happier with the results! If you're looking for a photographer in the Bay Area, look no further. Working with Nick was an absolute joy, and the photos speak for themselves. He was super responsive by email and phone, and when he says the photos will be ready on a date, they're ready on that date! One thing we noticed (after the fact) is that he's a really unobtrusive photographer; he captured so many moments where we didn't remember him being there. I also want to mention that his model for doing engagement+wedding photos is excellent because it gave us a chance to get to know one another before the wedding. And above and beyond all of that, Nick gave us a lot of great non-photography related wedding advice from having attended so many weddings (eg how to do the cake cutting), as well as great photography-related wedding advice (have a shot list and some designated wranglers for family photos). I have known Nick Wolf for years in many different aspects of his photography. He has taken head shots for our architecture office as well as food pictures for a restaurant client. As an architect I am pretty particular about pictures. I was so pleased with is professional work that he was a natural choice when I got engaged. Nick's personality is relaxed (helpful on a wedding day) but he will assert himself as a photographer when he needs to - which I really appreciated. For example, he really encouraged my fiancee and I to take engagement photos. I thought that since it was a second marriage for both of us it was unnecessary but what it did was give us time in front of Nick and his cameras to feel comfortable. It also gave us some great pictures!!! We did not want to have a lot of staged family pictures and that was one reason we chose Nick. He really does more of a documentary style. We did do the a few mandatory family shots for the parents - but our favorite family shot was right after the wedding ceremony! It captures the joy that everyone is feeling and is perfect! I didn't expect to be nervous but I was and as I was getting ready the wind really started to blow - bad for an outdoor wedding. Nick watched my energy change and said, "Don't worry Carrie, I put in a call and the wind will stop soon". He was very calming and the wind did die down - coincidence? One warning for you is that when you get your photos from Nick you will not be able to do anything else but look at them over and over again. The albums are very well curated by different parts of the wedding event - getting ready, first look, etc. The images far exceeded my expectations. I don't remember Nick being in the way at all or even have a consciousness of him being around snapping pictures. But he captured unbelievable moments from the start to finish. Nick is the best! He had the best vibes from day one! We were planning our wedding out of state, but was willing to work with us anyways. He had a great idea of a locale for our engagement pictures. They had a perfect feel for what we were looking for. He made the whole experience a ton of fun. My husband and I walked away from our engagement shoot saying that was fun and couldn't wait for the big day. When it came to the big day, he was so much fun! First, his style: I'm a professional art snob, and I set the bar pretty high. I specifically set out in search of someone with a great sense of color, light, and architecture, who would bring a sensitive eye to our big day. We also received a ton of photos within a month of our wedding - the hardest part is picking favorites for our walls! Second: in addition to being supremely talented, Nick is also a blast to work with. The first time I called to inquire, we spoke for a good long while - and it felt like chatting with an old friend. He's fun, patient, positive, and professional - and has a way of making a sometimes stressful life event feel more comfortable and relaxed. He went above and beyond to make sure we ate, drank, and stayed on schedule, and also helped us avert a minor crisis thanks to his calm and steady hand. My wife Amanda and I got married on August 26th, 2017. It was wonderful, and part of the reason was how incredible Nick Wolf, our photographer, was. Nick is amazing. We met with him far in advance of our wedding after being in touch via email (we were planning our wedding from afar on the east coast), and he immediately showed personal interest in us, our wedding and our vision. We also got a great vibe from Nick right away. Both of us were incredibly nervous about being professionally photographed because we're relatively camera shy, and Nick helped us feel at ease and comfortable by being casual, kind and patient. The wedding was fantastic, and Nick was a big hit not only with us, but also with our friends and family. He seems to have found the perfect combination of going with the flow and making sure we were able to fully enjoy our wedding while capturing all of the moments we wanted to. Nick was incredible and quite honestly one of the best people we worked with through out wedding (and we worked with a ton of vendors given it was a very big wedding). I interviewed literally 20 different photographers before we chose Nick and we couldn't be happier that we did. He was authentic, real, beyond talented with the camera and made us feel extremely comfortable in our own skin for all of our events leading up to our big day (included our engagement shoot, civil ceremony at the courthouse, rehearsal dinner and the actual wedding).
