It has everything from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, ATVs, you name it... The campgrounds are set up for small/individual groups to larger groups. Volleyball, hammocks a basketball hoop and other fun things are all around. The cabins are very clean and nice, AC/heat, private bathrooms and showers with nice hot water. Comfortable beds and linens. Then there is the awesome bar and restaurant. Order the Pizza or flatbread, it is excellent, and being from Chicago we know pizza! Eric is a fantastic cook and anything on the menu will taste great. The bar offers all sorts of beers and any other drink you want. Eric and Tom run this place, they know the area well and Eric is an expert on just about anything outdoors. Very friendly place and people. The mountain biking is awesome and if you are a mountain biker you MUST make this trip. The trails in the Nicolet National Forest are some of the best in the Midwest. Beautiful, single track, a bit technical in places, boulders, and the scenery is always beautiful. You may even see a black bear. Trails are well marked in the Nicolet. Rafting the Wolf River is exciting too, or you can kayak it as many kayakers come from all over the Midwest to kayak here. We are rafters, we love it, usually see a bald eagle or 2, lots of turtles, and just a great time. We like to go to Herb's Rafting which works out of Crab and Jacks, a bar/restaurant where a lot of motorcycle riders stop. It is always fun around Memorial Day when there are tons of kids camping at Bear Paw and then rafting the river. They get out at Crab and Jacks where there are numerous Harley Davidsons and riders watching all of this. Quite the different groups of people doing what they enjoy. We were very lucky to get this place for a night in between reservations and were sorry we couldn't stay longer. It's just a few miles outside of town, where you can (and we did) get groceries and some terrific fish fry easily. The owners are just across the driveway and were very friendly. They have a couple of dogs - the collie came over and visited us a few times (this was 100% okay with us, my middle son *loved* having a doggy friend for a day). Oh, there's a firepit and picnic table outside, too. This place was amazing. Just a little more than a hotel room, but with space to move and the sound of a babbling brook just outside the front door.

She takes great care of the cabins and always has great suggestions when you ask her about anything local from food to activities. The property is great for walks and there's some horses and donkeys to check out too. Our dogs always feel at home on the ranch. We love to ride ATV trails and Spur of the Moment has trail access. You ride from your front door to anywhere you like in the area, no trailering. On our last trip we brought a side x side and all the great trails permitted our lager machine. All of the meals we ate out we did by riding our machines to and Ann supplied us with maps so we knew where we were going. The trail system has so many local and long distant places to go to it's good for beginners as well as veterans. Last thing that we've always enjoyed is the other guests. The Ranch is not only good to ATV'ers it's VERY horse friendly. On a busy weekend you can have all types of guests and on every trip we've done it's never mattered what you're into, people are just friendly. It's flat out relaxing.

If you're planning on having your wedding at the Four Seasons Island Resort, I would reconsider…read more My husband and I were married there on 10/31/25 and had a horrible experience with their entire staff either being rude or offering little to no help. I even emailed the Event Coordinator Marie Fende and Event Manager Kayla Myers that we had been working with for the wedding over a week ago about these issues with no response from either of them. We were asked THREE days before our wedding to move where we had planned to have our reception since the resort was having a karaoke event in the bar near the reception room and they didn't want to figure out whose drinks should be free and who they needed to charge for. The chairs weren't set up for our ceremony so my husband started to do it in his tux, a bridesmaid found a staff member who said that this "wasn't his gig" and he needs to be working on the golf course (it's closed for the season) and not working on a wedding. Our cake and cupcakes were all thrown out by staff at the end of the night even though they were not asked to and they were on our personal trays we brought in. We also had two bottles of homemade moonshine in with our belongings that came up missing the next day. Staff yelled at our bridal party for my husband & I taking a golf cart that was supposed to have been left outside for us to make it easier to take pictures on their property, there was never an apology offered after they realized they were supposed to have one out for us. A bridesmaid and myself were unable to get into the space where we were having the reception the morning of and we were told by a front desk employee that housekeeping unlocks that but she had no way to contact them, but would tell them IF she saw them. Our officiant found bugs in his drink, when he told staff about it she replied with "Okay, do you want a new one or what?" Another relative, who I will admit was fairly intoxicated, walked up to the bar and said "I'll take whatever" to which the bartender responded "Oh I bet you fucking will." The 2nd bartender walked past my husband saying "I don't get paid enough for this shit." Almost all of our family members and guests told us that they had called several times leaving voicemails trying to reserve a room but no one ever called them back. One guest was told she needed to listen to the message a little bit better on when to call because it clearly states they're in the their winter hours and not always available to answer the phone, our guest was calling in early September when they were still open during regular hours. The shower nozzle in the "presidential suite" they gave us for the night didn't work, I basically had to splash myself with tub water to try to get clean. The venue is beautiful and we got a lot of amazing pictures, but to spend thousands of dollars and to be treated the way we were, I couldn't recommend anyone get married here, vacation here, or let alone eat here.
