Cons: The boat that is covered gets hot inside, unless there is a cool breeze. If you are in the covered boat and not seated at a window, you will miss the majority of sites that are called out during the narration. Views are very limited. If the boat is full, you can't really walk and hang out on the back of the boat which is open air. The boat moves very slow. Did I mention it gets warm? My advice: if an option, take the open air boat (Sacajawea) where there is no cover (bring sunscreen). Check to see if they rent pontoons or other boats. Just an ok experience and wouldn't do it again.

Food at the cafe looked good too. If you're a tourist budgeting your time you might want to pass. On our two hour boat ride we learned a bit about the area, Lewis & Clark and the flora & fauna. The ride itself was basically looking at rock cliffs, pine trees and spinning around in circles for different views. With the required half hour early request and a little time after the tour it took about three hours of our time.

Premier fly fishing store in the middle of a tiny town in Craig, Montana (population about 40)…read more They compete with 2 other shops and a number of guides but they provide excellent service, guides, and shop. Went on a group trip with Gig Harbor Fly shop out of Washington for 5 days. See my other reviews for the fly shop and owner: Blake Merkin. I loved this group because I got to fish the way I wanted to fish: trout spey. While most of the world is single handed fishing, this shop is very familiar with trout spey - also called microspey; Headhunters caters to 2 handed anglers. I am such an angler - I always fish with a 2 hander for steelhead, salmon, ocean surf fishing, bay fishing, and even trout in my local waters. From the time you enter the shop to the time you leave, this store offers more than the square footage of the shop. They have the flies that catch real fish, rods, lines, reels, and clothing & accessories. I was looking for an integrated fishing line for my newly purchased 5wt trout spey rod so I brought along my reel with backing on it ready to buy. But when I could not decide between a scandi or skagit integrated line, the shop was so nice to offer a no cost loaner/demo of the line. They even put their line on their Sage reel plus a tapered leader!. I can not believe a fly shop would offer to do this as all other fly shops I have been into either do not offer a demo program nor would they even offer to let you use a line for free! I ended up buying the line after using it for a day - they definitely know how to gain confidence in their services and products! The best guide out of Headhunters: Whitney Gould - was the best 2 handed guide & instructor I have ever met! Whitney was the only FFF certified casting THCI and multi world champion spey cast distance competitor. She certainly knows how to guide a spey angler on the Missouri big time! She got me onto many stretches of the water where I could get out of the boat, walk & wade into some huge fish. Have to say, it's best day I have had using my 2 handed rod. This shop is a must stop by and I would definitely return to this blue ribbon fishery!

Unprofessional guiding experience…read more We booked a three-day guided trip with Russ through Montana Dream Fishing Outfitters- two days drifting the Missouri River and one day wading the Blackfoot. To his credit, Russ knows both stretches of water well and put us on active fish throughout the trip. That said, the overall experience felt unprofessional. Over the course of the three days, Russ's comments and attention toward me felt flirtatious and inappropriate, uncomfortable given I was there with my boyfriend. There was also a clear, consistent imbalance in guiding: whether we were drifting the Missouri or wading the Blackfoot, Russ focused heavily on getting me onto fish while giving my boyfriend noticeably less help. On the river days, he also seemed to position the boat at times in ways that worked against my boyfriend landing a fish. The low point came at the end of the trip. When we tipped Russ, he complained about the amount and lectured us on tipping etiquette. Criticizing clients over a voluntary gratuity is not okay. We caught fish across both rivers, but that doesn't offset three days with an outfitter who made one of us uncomfortable, treated us unequally, and then lectured us about money. I wouldn't book again.

First of all, I didn't park in the parking lot because I guess I'm stupid. I plugged the mountain into the GPS and it took me to the nearest trailhead (not the parking lot associated with it). GIS data am I right? It's brilliant, but not intuitive.... Typically engineer stuff. It's like having Spock as your right hand man. Meanwhile, Jacksie (my little baby girl) she's hormonal because she's about to start... SHE DISAPPEARED. I guess you could say I got, gone girl'd. Me and Djinn submitted, and did our civic duty, and then we hoofed it looking for, Jacksnthebox. Didn't find her. Where is she? I got a text shortly thereafter saying, "hey is your white dog missing?". Yes. "She's at XYZ address, you should scoop her." Me and Djinnyrd Skynyrd went grab the original beast; got there, picked her up, and started looking for my car... which at this point I realized, I had lost. Finally found the car, and quickly learned that I had lost my keys during the hike. (Fell out of my pocket.). Happy 4th of July, Marcus. "May Zeus strike you with lightning, and your tears fall on the feet of Aphrodite." This was a guided trip on the Missouri river in Craig, MT…read more Guide was the owner: Trevor who was gracious to take on a spey caster (2 handed fly fisher) for a full day. After getting lost finding Trevor because the cell phones do not work and the address given to me was worthless because there is no cell, no internet, nothing - finally found each other using a fly shops cellular repeater to leave a message. Trevor, the guide was very intense on how to catch. After all, he is paid to have his clients catch fish. This intensity on catching fish was focused too much on numbers - I would have preferred a more casual, relaxing time on the water instead of focusing so much on the indicator or dry fly. We caught a lot of rainbows, 1 mountain whitefish, and 2 brown trout. I enjoyed casting a dry fly as I rarely get a chance to fish a dry. Unfortunately, I had to use a single hand rod for nymphing and dry fly fishing. Single hand rods are very clumsy in my hands and frankly, I don't like them because the dry line does not load a single hand rod. My personal single hand rods I have are all over lined by 2 weights to allow for rod loading and spey casts. If Trevor had lined the rod with a single hand spey line, then I could have managed to cast better. I should have brought my 6wt single hander which has an 8wt Outbound Short head on it that I use for spey casting... I did bring my spey rod - actually technically it's a switch rod in 5wt. Trevor provided a large fly called a zonk-zilla. It did catch a rainbow on a 2 hander which made the trip outstanding. Lunch provided by the guide was OK, nothing spectacular. Trip was as promised, we put in at Craig and took out at Mid Canon. Overall a good trip but really meant for a single hand angler....
