Although, even that's only £20 to go round. Try timing it right and playing the basic 18 for a tenner weekdays after 12, and you won't be disappointed. Well kept greens, long, challenging holes and great hilly fairways to get those legs burning. Get a kit-kat though, because half way around you're going to need a sugar kick. This course is a good walk. Holes ranging from 160 to 510 yards, and not too much rough to garden in, I think it's definitely worth the short drive from Central London.

The course is a great example of a course for all standards, using the water and narrow fairways give all golfers a challenge but not a mission impossible. Since playing there I have noticed a new housing development being built very nearby called Chobham Lakes and I can understand why. The course itself isn't too bad, it is very obviously a new course with the same blandness in places that is indicative of a course that has been shoehorned into a unsuitable patch of land but it does offer up a good challenge in places and some of the holes are excellent but on the whole it is bordering on being easily forgettable. Not somewhere I would recommend when you consider the wealth of great golf that is available in Surrey.

And it worked! I had a basic swing after a couple of lessons and was able to go to the range on my own to practice. The driving range here is excellent, it sweeps down a really steep hill so even if you don't hit the ball too hard it still looks good! I haven't played the course but it looks great and at £14 for 18 holes (midweek) it won't break the bank. They've got a really friendly little sandwich shop here too so worth popping in and feeding up before heading to the green!

It is not normally busy but they do have a membership scheme in operation so it is worth phoning to make sure they do not have an event on. The course is challenging in places but should allow for a good score once familar with the layout. The first and last holes are the most difficult - the tree in the middle of the first fairway is particularly fun! It is not a long course but is quite hilly, providing a good work out (unless you opt for the buggy option). The clubhouse is a newly built Scandia-Hus building with a great little bar/coffee area. There is a nice terrace with fantastic views north. The pro/owner is a nice friendly chap too. My only criticism is that the bar is often closed by 8pm in the height of summer which is their loss really as I have a drink in the local pub instead.

You could certainly never complain that the place doesn't have atmosphere. The course is just as a Surrey course should be, plenty of heather to catch an errant drive and holes neatly screened from each other by mature greenery. I've been lucky enough to play here on several occasions and every time it has been presented in immaculate condition with very well kept greens and fairways. Not only that, but it never seems to get busy so you can have a hassle free round without any waiting for others infront. If you've never played here then you're missing out on one of Surreys golfing treats.

They're all named appropriately and you should watch out for the one called 'The Funnel' I think it's the tenth, as it can ruin a good scorecard with a tight landing area for your tee shot and a slightly elevated green that requires an accurate approach. That's followed shortly after by a long par 3 with one of the most challenging greens I've ever played. There's only one hole that lets it down by being ridiculously short but other than that I'm sure you'll enjoy the challenge of a round here. Afterwards you can relax on the terrace with a drink and watch as people start their round at the par 3 first or see others putt out on the tricky 18th. It may not test you for your driving distance but it will certainly force you to focus on accuracy.
