What a neat concept! Peter, the creator of all of this was a riot from beginning to end. His presentation on how to consume a shrimp was the highlight. About 24 hours or so before the event, you receive an email for where the event will be hosted. Many of us arrived promptly at 630 pm and were huddled outside while it was sprinkling a bit. We buzzed in and were welcomed with some delicious Wither Hills white wine.
The room where everything took place could have had some better acoustics as having 40 people in a room talking at the same time made it a challenging to hear at times. We all enjoyed the wine and each other's company for about half an hour until we received Peter's stunning shrimp consumption demonstration.
Cooked in a giant wok, the shrimps were perfectly cooked and seasoned just right before Peter poured them across a long table. There were no chairs, forks, knives, etc. We just all huddled around the room brushed elbows while slurping shrimp heads haha. Giant loafs of various breads were also scattered about for you to soak up the shrimp juices.
For the germaphobes out there such as myself, having people pick food off a table with no utensils may gross you out a bit. They did walk around with antibacterial gel for everyone and consuming a lot of wine helps you get over this as well. read more
