We shared the eggs rolls and this crispy parcell roll - very tasty. I ordered the combination salad with prawn, chicken and barbeque pork - they did not skimp on the meat! I was stuffed! Once we were seated the sprightly service continued and we had some recommendations from the menu. There was a bit of a wait for the food but the wait staff were very attentive and kept us in the loop. We enjoyed watching some of the photo slide shows and reading some of the MANY reviews on the wall. I have travelled Vietnam and explored lots of the cuisine and was VERY impressed at the authentic tastes that the kitchen had to offer. With a great wine list to compliment the dishes, amazing service and absolutely delicious food, it's worth the trip (though perhaps book ahead). We'll be back for their party to celebrate Vietnamese New Year!

It is very sketchy and the parking is not paved at all and pretty aweful. You can park on street right in front of the restaurant aftet 4:30pm. The rrstaurant is pretty clean and the customer servicr is good as well. The food came out quick. My sister beef pho was great! The beef was generous portion for a small size and the broth was simple yet delicate. The noodles were wide and flat which I am not used to in pho. My dry vermicelli with meat balls, shrimp balls and spring rolls was almost excellent but the fish sauce wqs not enough for me and lacked bit of taste. None the less the topping were pretty yummy. If you are looking for a solid Vietnamese restaurant, this is definitely a right pick in nearby area.

Okay so shnit is about to get controversial…read more.. My bestie and I have decided to make our way through the Vietnamese restaurant wonderland which is Arndale's surrounding areas. I've been a longtime regular of my old faithful and have decided I need to open my eyes a little. Given Pho Ba Ria 2's ridiculously amazing reviews on the ol'Yelpy, Bestie and I decided it was definitely on the list. Hmm... and this is where it gets controversial. I'm just not sold. The food, the service, the setting... none adds up to 5 stars for me here... it's 3.5 at best. Whilst I loved the menu (bilingual with a huge selection... particularly of drinks!), I didn't leave thinking the food was anything amazing. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef & pork soup) (large $12.50), whilst B ordered a combination pho and we both ordered 3 Bean Drink, because that stuff is like lumpy, liquid-y heaven. Sadly the pho lacked depth of flavour, and even after drowning it in lemon juice and a dash of soy to help with seasoning it was lacklustre. The spicy soup was really hard to eat as the spices were too fine to push to the side, but not fine enough to swallow, which left my mouth and throat full of chomped up lemongrass stems... usually I will pretty much drink every last mouthful, but this soup was pushed aside once I'd finished the noodles and the non-gristly parts of meat. Finally, the 3 bean drink ($5) that we were so very excited about was really sweet compared to others I've tried, the ice was chunky which made it hard to mix. Still tasty mind you... just not 5 star worthy. Maybe we got them on a bad night. But given their prices are a little dearer than their competitors I doubt I'll be back to check.

This place is my local, even though it is pretty quiet it does some great pub food!…read more I ordered the Stone Grill. I know you can't really fault a stone grill anyway as you have to cook it yourself, however the cut of meat was excellent! I ordered it with Dianne gravy, the gravy was a great consistency and delish....Nothing worse then watery gravy!!!

Today's review is for The Woodville Hotel…read more The first thing we noticed was that it had a few different dining areas. The main area was completely booked out so we walked out into "the yard". According to their website, they have recently upgraded and I quite liked this area. Although this is an "outside" area, it's protected from the elements but still allows glorious sunlight to stream on through the windows warming up my chilled bones. The heating in that area helped a bit too!! There were staff bustling about here and there but all were very friendly and eager to please. We looked at the menu and I noticed the regular sort of pub fare that you'd expect from any decent bistro. Nothing really jumped out at me. They had parmi's, steaks, burgers, pizza's and a few seafood options. Because I'd seen this on the menu online before arriving, I knew I was going to order the bruschetta to share with hubby as an entree. It also helped that I saw a serve of this coming out and it looked quite big! For main hubby jumped out of his steak comfort zone and went for the Oven Baked Chicken Breast : Filled with double smoked ham, semi-dried tomato and haloumi cheese served on garlic mash potato and topped with citrus hollandaise I chose the Coorong Beef Rump Parmigiana: With chips, salad and your choice of sauce I swear I'd barely sat back at the table after ordering before the bruschetta came out. I had been craving this and was really really looking forward to it! It didn't disappoint. It looked pretty on the plate. The bread was lovely continental bread, lightly toasted, and the tomatoes were sweet and full of flavour. I just love tomato and basil. Such a heavenly combination! The sticky balsamic added a nice touch too. If I'm being picky I'd say I'd prefer my bread to be a little more toasted but hubby said he liked it just the way it was so that just comes down to personal preference. Unfortunately it was finished just as quick as it came out and now our hunger, rather than being partially satiated, was enraged! We had been warned that hubby's chicken was going to take at least thirty minutes before it was ready however it did seem like it came out sooner than that. Still, I like when you get that warning because then you're not left wondering if they've forgotten your order. Hubby was a little disappointed when he saw his dish. Only because to him, it looked small. I thought it looked ok on the plate but probably could have done with a bigger salad so that the meat didn't look so lonesome and maybe could have done with some fries on there too. I mean when you compare it to what mine was, this is like an itty bitty serve and yet cost quite a bit more than mine. I know that's not how things are priced but when you have a hunger.... There was nothing wrong with the taste of it. Hubby said it was good. Nice flavours throughout but he couldn't get past the size of it. Not that he should have complained really because he ended up eating half of mine! My beef parmi was HUGE! And they were so generous with that cheese!! The meat was good, tender, the tomato sauce was ok and the cheese was gooey as it should be. All good. No complaints. I'm not sure why we weren't "wowed" as there was nothing wrong with anything either of us ate and everyone was lovely to us. Most of the things we saw on the menu I thought were reasonably priced or at least, comparable to other pubs/bistro's. If you're a local or simply looking for a good bistro I would recommend The Woodville. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and from what I see, there's usually quite a few people about!

I can honestly say that I have never had better service in any restaurant. They were at the table regularly, ensuring that all of us had all we wanted. The food was amazing, and served so quickly. There are lots delicious vegan and non-vegan dishes. And wow, amazing value. The entrees were bigger than we expected and very tasty. The mains plates were piled high with scrumptious food, too much to eat. So much that we all took home large containers of food. Every meal was cooked beautifully. I'm not a vegan, the meats were tender, the rice was soft but not soggy, the food arrived at the table nice and hot. I'm told that the vegan meals were just as lovely. I was delighted that meals were brought out fairly close together. Many restaurants fail to accomplish this, so some diners finish before others have even been served. Mai Kitchen managed to have us all eating at the same time. The restaurant is clean and nicely lit, not too bright, not too dark. The simple high-backed, wooden chairs look lovely with the wooden tables and floor. The feeling is simple elegance, and open space. Surprisingly for such a large space, and so many diners, it didn't feel noisy, or crowded. After the main meal the staff surprised us with two special deserts, one vegan, one not, each with a lit candle, and led us in the Happy Birthday song. Grandma and my nephew were both delighted. They also report that the deserts were especially yummy.

The menu is extensive with plenty of variety, but the standouts for us were the sweet and sour pork and san choy bow - both packed with flavour and beautifully done. With a table of 12, our total bill came to around $300, which felt very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we enjoyed. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

I hadn't had Vietnamese in awhile and Pho Han has always been one of those consistent and reliable restaurants for a cheap delicious meal. We always have intentions of trying something new but always resort to Combination Broken Rice. Large size of course!! For $12.50 for a massive dish you can't go wrong. Although its mostly rice you have so many items on the plate and the multitude of condiments on the table at your disposal, if hungry it's quite easy to eat the entire amount. Be prepared to burst at the seams though. The crispy roast pork is cooked to perfection, the pork chop had a fantastic flavour, the shredded pork plentiful and mince cake? Amazing as always. It's also nice to break up the meatiness with fresh sliced cucumber and pickled vegetables. All washed down with a warm broth to cleanse the palate, it had chopped spring onion and coriander which brought a dimension and slight sweetness to the saltiness of the broth. Service is always friendly and they do really try to make sure customers have an enjoyable experience and meal. I feel awful that I hadn't been here for awhile but so thankful that the food is still good. I will make sure I'm a regular again.

I always love places that serves you with pleasant attitude, on top of super tasty food. I can only give a 4-star, probably because I don't particularly like the interior decoration of the restaurant, and this might only be a personal reason. It's the glass tables where you can see everybody's feet while eating. Not for me, so if the place is not full, you might get away with eating on one of the big round tables (where you can avoid looking at the feet of the person sitting next to you).
