Used to be our go to spot; now the food is over breaded. overcooked and tastes like cheap cooking oil. You want coffee, you'll get folgers. Our dinner was so bad we didn't take leftover; be we both had acute dysentery within the hour. Washrooms have gotten filthy, and there is no hot water to wash hands. I live on the north side of the city and regularly order from the Wok House on McGregor. As it has the same name I thought I could expect the same quality. What a let down. I ordered $260.00 worth of food for a family function and there were plenty of leftovers. The dry ribs had a hint of cinnamon and most everything else was bland and greasy. Have to agree with the first review. Food was mostly terrible. Shrimp was like leather. They gave us $3 off. We ordered four different drinks and we will swear there was virtually no alcohol. And we ordered doubles for 'happy hour' haha. This place is a dive. The new owners (as of December 2013) do the cooking themselves and it is not good. It was a mess when we showed up at 6 pm and no one made a move to improve it. They have stock stored against the wall in the lounge! Do not ever go here. read more

Those of you who read my reviews know that I hate, hate, hate to give a bad review. But when not given any choice, I'm going to tell it like it is. This place is absolutely awful and there is no excuse for it other than I guess the owners make more money off of the trashy, karaoke booze joint adjacent to the restaurant. I have nothing against drinking. I like to drink myself. But, the bar that is hooked up to this restaurant was full of obnoxious, loud, foul-mouthed drunks. Two of the drunks backed up a freight truck right at the door and were standing in the way, smoking the daylights our of their cigarettes, dropping f-bombs and just being a major rude, inconsiderate mess. The restaurant itself was quiet but it had a kind of sleazy quality to it. It appeared to be fairly clean but there was just something unsavory about it. We ordered chop suey and it was a disaster. It was just a bunch of boiled bean sprouts and cabbage. I had to ask for meat, no other vegetables and a lump of rice next to it. Oh, and an egg roll which was the best thing on the plate. Was not bad. Was not good. Server was doing the job of three. Taking delivery, dining room and bar. Needs more staff, service was very poor. Took a while to get meals out and the restaurant was dead. Hard to get the servers attention for refills. We spend $95 on dinner and don't feel like we paid a good value for what was received. Had better. Had worse. Not greasy Chinese, which I enjoyed. read more
