Place is great for a quick and easy meal. They have some seats along the window near the front entrance if you want to eat there, and the prices are pretty fair for the quality. I'll definitely be back for more quick sushi, followed by some pizza slice action nearby. Then wake myself back up from the food coma with a good coffee from one of the many great cafes around North Beach.

There are plenty of places to get sushi in the city. But at this price point and convenience + super cute Muji style seating area, Ebiko can't be beat. I came here during the 100 degree heat wave in early September and the AC felt nice. My meal at Ebiko was a nice respite before making the trek across the fidi. Compared to Mitsuwa, Osaka Market, and Nijiya, I do feel like Ebiko could be more competitive if they worked on their sushi rice recipe. I felt it wasn't as flavorful as it could be. This did highlight how fresh the fish was, but because I love sushi rice, I wanted more from Ebiko.

It was founded in 1856, which means it has been in business for about 170 years as of 2026. Originally, Mow Lee Shing Kee supplied preserved meats and Chinese groceries to the growing Chinese immigrant community during the Gold Rush era. Today, it's best known for: * Chinese sausages (臘腸) * Cured pork (臘肉) * Chinese bacon and preserved duck * Traditional dried goods and pantry staples Many locals consider Mow Lee a "living museum" because it has survived: * the 1906 earthquake and fire, * the Chinese Exclusion era, * multiple economic downturns, * and generations of change in Chinatown. If you enjoy old Chinatown history, Mow Lee is in the same league of historic institutions as Sam Wo (1908), but Mow Lee predates it by more than 50 years and is among the very oldest Chinese-owned businesses still operating in San Francisco. I always stop by to get a bunch of their preserved goodies as gifts or for personal use... they are all super yummy. Service is a typical no-BS style, just get in - order - pay - and next! ;)

I noticed there was a kitchen in the back of the market, which made everything even more appetizing--I loved the thought that the food could have been made fresh that same day. It was so hard to choose between the two proteins, spicy pork and beef, because they both looked incredibly delicious. I ended up going with the beef, and it immediately satisfied my craving for a quick and delicious grab-and-go lunch. The beef tasted fresh, and the flavors were bold and robust. I also added the Korean soy garlic fried chicken, and it paired surprisingly well with the kimbap. The fried chicken wasn't quite as crispy as I hoped, but the flavor definitely made up for it. I'll definitely be stopping by again whenever I'm near Woori!

The filling to rice ratio is really generous, and I like that they have this bigger assorted version with three flavors- fishcake, tuna, and kimchi so I could try a bit of everything! Loved the kimchi one a lot. Gotta come back to try the other flavors out. Didn't have time to explore the rest of the market, but they seem to carry a bunch of Korean ingredients that are hard to find at a regular grocery store! Lots of nostalgic snacks, seasonings, I even saw fresh Korean rice cake which I'll definitely be trying out next time.

Although it feels comfortable with familiarity with some common spots there is always room for spontaneous things appear out of nowhere in SF. Shopping in the city you will find stores with many different goods. I found a grocery store in Chinatown sells alcohol such as wine and whiskey along of tea from China. Inside you will discover lots of different items such as mushrooms and noodles ( not Angel Hair) along with different sauces. They have everything from canned Ovaltine to canned Pho broth.
