What more could we want when we're in the midst of moving two apartments worth of s t u f f into a house? I was so relieved this was so easy! So, not everything is free. If you have a huge truck full of various waste products it will cost you. If you're two people with a handful of electronics and various e waste in bags, it costs you nothing. Signs instruct drivers where to wait and to turn off their engine. A nice gentleman came out to assist us, and took everything out of the trunk without us having to even get out of the car! Nice. If you are a city of Sacramento resident you get a free dump coupon each year, as well as your two free pre-scheduled curbside pickups from Oct-Feb. I invariably forget stuff to put out on our scheduled days and after a shed project we had debris that wasn't going to fit in our weekly curbside garbage can pickup. The dump here is very expensive (last time I was here was 2020 and it cost $75 for a carful of junk!) so the free coupon is great stuff. What's weird is all the branding is Waste Management not City of Sacramento so I guess the city subcontracts its garbage or recycling...not sure. I had a really awful time here last time so it took me five years to come back! It must have been Covid times and I was forced to sort out stuff like at Whole Foods recycling but this time it was like a normal dump where you back your car or truck in and throw your stuff in a pile. The ladies were very nice at the weigh scales coming and going. They have good signage where the public (that's you and I) must go versus the big garbage trucks. You can access the hazardous waste drop off at the front of the large main building which is accessible through the front parking lot. You must take a side street to access the dump though. Today I had a bunch of old paint cans and batteries that I dropped off to the hazmat drop off. You stay in your car, turn off your engine, unlock your trunk and they will take your stuff out and dispose it. Staff here were very friendly and helpful. Then I went to the dump on the back side accessible on the side road (84th or 86th, can't remember but there's signs). Someone at the dump will Guide you to back in. I was the only woman there dumping stuff off and the only person not running a junk pickup/construction business, so it's definitely not a place you will blend in but the seagulls are friendly and just stay away from the dump pit per the sign. June 25, 2025 - Sacramento. Time for a garage cleanup! We had some left over paint, fountain chemicals, and assorted cleaning products and a large container of vegetable oil that was past its prime. We had just received a reminder in the mail that we can drop off household hazardous waste for free at the Sacramento Recycling & Transfer Station (SRTS). So we gathered our HHW into two cardboard boxes, and off we went. (Check the website for acceptable items.) For HHW, enter the facility off of Fruitridge, not 84th. We had a little trouble finding where to go, but we figured it out. Once in line for the drop off, we had a bit of a wait. Not sure what the people in front of us were dropping up, but it seemed to require a bit of extra time and paperwork. But when it was our turn, easy-breezy. The staff person apologized for the wait, went to the back of our car, picked up our two cardboard boxes of HHW, and waved us on. That fast! I highly recommend you do not consider Waste Management for your trash, recycling, or organic pickup services. This company repeatedly did not service our business location, and it was only when confronted with security camera recordings that they admitted they did not service it. We have camera recorded evidence, cell phone photo evidence, and email evidence to our account representative(Brent Meyers) about the lack of pickups and they still charged us full price. I spent more time getting them to do their job than it was worth had I just hauled the items to the dump myself. The worst part is they had our Dumpster, Recycling, and Organics all being serviced on different days, outside of business hours, which made it difficult to ensure pickup was happening without installing our own cameras. Their phone customer service is absolutely infuriating. First you have to fight with an automated phone answering service, that pushes you to "pay your bill", after 5 minutes of asking for customer service they push you from one unhelpful representative to another until you basically give up trying to get your problem solved. I've been hung up on, told to go online and do it myself, and continuously been given more problems than it's worth. Please, do yourself a favor, and do not work with WM ... read more

This review is for their Rental Rollout Dumpster Service! Our first and last time. The only reason we wanted their service was because they take perishable households food waste. Horrible service! Unable to contact all of their toll numbers and office numbers regarding our roll out dumpster service that had been scheduled and paid for. They couldn't provide me the time when it'll arrive but said they'll call us when they're in route the morning of since we've paid and confirmed the service dates.  It's been a day  for the drop off no show, no call, and we couldn't reach past their automated system without having all our calls dropped or hanged up by their robot LISA. Their customer service is horrendous!  We were able to reach WM after a day worth of being hanged up. Finally! 4pm, WM line is up and I was assisted by Valerie a representative who transfered me to Commerical to assist why our dumpster has not yet arrived. I thought yes our luck has been answered to find out.... waited 10 min on hold for Commerical Dept. to be hanged up after the music was cut off. So please if you don't want to assist your clients at least don't get caught breathing and shuffling around your desk and making noise when you darn know your customer is on the line saying Hello  20x's. I even had to have my husband confirm if he was hearing what I did. When he confirmed he even said Hello 5x's before getting hanged up by WM Commerical Dept. Waited 45 min overall just to be hanged up! Phone service is horrible, automated service is horrendous, and customer care there is no word. We better get our money after all this crap. So our advice please DO NOT RENT THEIR ROLL OUT SERVICE DUMPSTERS. Save your money and go somewhere else and pay more. Thank goodness our garbage services is not with WM! read more

WM has not just only shown their lack of customer service to our company but now their integrity to uphold what was promise to us. Adam Reininger repeatedly promised that our location (which he has been to several times) wouldn't be an issue to service. He were very adamant about us removing Republic Services from our location and we followed your lead. After having them service our compactor for several months and our recycling/trash for less then a month. We get an email from Adam stating they are dropping us due to "safety concerns". If you are a property management company with several waste containers I would recommend going with Republic Services. They have always been upfront and honest with us and NEVER just dropped us like WM did. read more

Waste Management. It's about as unsexy a name as a business could ever come up with, but it's also straight to the point. When I have hazardous or unusual items around the house that need recycling, this is the not only the place I go to, it's the only place I know that will take them. For that reason they are an invaluable service. The process is simple - especially on Fridays and Saturdays when they waive the $10 fee for drop off. Go into the gate for the main building off Fruitridge, take a left and drop off your stuff at the little service station there. I've gotten rid of everything from old chemicals to paints to unusual batteries and they have accepted it all. It's a no frills process and not the most convenient location for most, but it helps you in knowing that you're doing a little bit not to destroy the earth. I've read up on their practices and they take care to recycle products based on their type and under safety standards set by the government. Note: At the time of this review, they are currently closed into May due to Coronavirus. read more

Building Demo WARNING! I used WM dumpsters for a building demolition in Sacramento where recycling is a must. I call WM and they will not respond to emails and will not give a contract; everything is verbal only. So I ordered two dumpsters and had my guys sort things before placing them in the dumpster at quite a bit of additional cost to me. When I called for the dump ticket as required by Sac City law, they then told me everything went to the landfill and no sorting was done and only the total weight was recorded. I recycle household 'toxics' here 3-4 times a year, always on Friday or Saturday, when they waive the $10 fee. Easy drive up. Show drivers license. The staff unload the goods. Relieves some of my guilt for polluting my earth. I dropped off batteries, fluorescent light, etc. The website has a complete list of acceptable items. read more

I've been using this transfer station for years, but I'm done with them. Since Waste Management has taken over they have been nickel & diming their customers to death. Yesterday I took a small load of junk out including a mattress and box spring. I was told that the trailer load would be $20.00 (a light load, minimum charge) but that if I wanted to dump the bed as well it would be $15.00 per mattress or box spring, so that would be $30.00 for the mattress and box spring and $20.00 for the load! I told them forget it and drove the extra 1/2 mile to L&D's dump. $20 for everything. Waste Management can kiss my business goodbye. read more

Wanted to give 4 stars because today (7/20/22) I was relieved that they took my dead 4-in-1 lead-acid powered charging station, and dead portable power station (also lead-acid), for free (was curious about lithium but got zero results in their search bar, alarmingly). Good looking website, probably come in handy if I was a home owner or lived in a house. But I rent an apartment (along with probably a third of Sacramento residents), so nearly all the information on the website doesn't apply, nor did it answer my questions about recycling my hazardous waste for free or fee. Then I spent way too much of my day trying to navigate the phone menus, aggravatingly; a recording then gave me the customer service number - which you would think would be the number Google Maps listed. Then that number's menu almost wouldn't let me progress unless I entered my account number -- which obviously I don't have... After yelling and pushing buttons it started ringing. Got a nice lady who let me vent a little but then get right to the point, then proceeded to tell me she wasn't sure, then recommended some other WM number that collects from your door twice a year. So I called, and yes they do that, if you live in West Sacramento. WTH!!? btw like many companies today, WM doesn't seem to want to display a phone number at all on their website --- PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT IF THEY JUST WANT TO ASK HOW TO PROPERLY RECYCLE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS THAT AREN'T LISTED ON THE WEBSITE. For ex. do have to take these things apart and fish out a battery, but then what about the rest of the unit? Wondering if others have hit this roadblock and just decided to illegally dump for the sake of time.. So yes, really annoyed that I had to jump in the car in another 103 degree day with gas at $6/gal to go down there trying to get simple answers to simple questions. The two ladies I dealt with when dropping off (for free) were very nice, and one told me I could dump my dead microwave around the corner, also for free. Because of them and no fee only 3 stars as opposed to 1 is best I can rate overall. I care about the environment and so do countless others who don't have the luxury of free time and doing what I did today. To the people running WM: you need to show you care too, pretty little website and no contact number isn't fooling anyone. read more

Check out the Free Re-Use room! Over the years I've gotten plant food, chalkboard paint, wood polish, mortar mix, all kinds of cool free stuff that they pull out of the "hazardous waste" area if it looks like there is a usable amount left. SCORE! As for the rest of the dump: At $49 minimum charge they aren't the cheapest, but because of this they never seem to be too busy. I've been here 6 times in the last 4 years and I've never had to wait in line. The employees are usually helpful, and you can get rid of hazardous waste like paint and motor oil for free unlike a lot of places. read more
