Full Contact Rock N Roll…read more My wife and I often park near this place often when going to Part Time Lover three blocks down on 30th. And until tonight, I was scared to go in... a shining well-lighted open door that says "OPEN" on an otherwise dark street, it looks "wierd" from the outside. Well, stepping inside all doubts are confirmed. This place is weird... DELIGHTFULLY weird! Cramped and quirky, this place is SUPER COOL. An endless supply of rock n roll and other t-shirts, used vinyl, with ratings on the front showing condition of cover and the vinyl. For instance G/VG means cover is only "good" but the vinyl is "very good" I ended up buying like five record albums I was not expecting too. Okay, on to the best part. David. Super-cool-looking rock-n-roll David. Shy David. David the proprietor who barely let me take his picture for my Yelp review. A guy with cool stories about the stuff he has, and personal experiences with artists and recording stars. The first record he ever bought was Johnny Cash (cuz I was there on the hunt for Cash on behalf of my wife, came away with three used Cash records) You gotta step inside this place and see what happens. Super cool. Bringing my wife back here to go through his Elvis albums. Elvis is on sale right now because he has a bunch, and when the ELVIS movie came out they were hot but it's died down. Not in my wife's heart, Elvis hasn't!

Looking for a hidden gem to crate dig, then this is the place for you! Tons of various vinyls,…read morevintage tees, vhs tapes , etc. I've purchased items online from this store before and thought I'd finally check them out in person. Price point does vary depending on what it is you are looking for, decent if you ask me. The store is a little compact and filled to the rim but that's what makes it fun getting to dig through everything. Was greeted by a super chill guy working the counter. Off street parking available.

They are always perfect. I once got a teddy pendergrass album for $10 and will forever be thankful for that find! The owner is knowledgeable & literally knows what his buyers will like. Every time I come in, he has stuff on hold for his regulars and reaches out to them to come by and get the tape or vinyl. He's the real deal. I bring all my vinyl loving friends here! & will continue to do so.

Customer service was amazing - a guy who works there offered me water and answered my relentless questions. I had a lot of fun through the small exchange. Their cassette collection leans towards the 90s and 2000s, which I'm not complaining. I thought the price point would be expensive for these vintage finds, but they are so cheap ($5 for The Beach Boys and $9 for Pink Floyd). The dominant genres are alternative and rap. I didn't look too deep into their vinyl records but they got a good mixture of current mainstream to hip hop mainstream - from Daniel Caesar to Vanilla Ice (good stuff). They also have CDs, pins, and vintage shirts. I didn't dig through the CDs and pins, but their curated shirts are pretty top-notch - from Ralp Lauren to 80s Nike (designs look like they were out of MTV during their neon days). The prices are a bit pricey ($30ish). One thing I thought that was very interesting is the bowls made out of discarded vinyl records. It's the coolest thing I have ever seen.

This isn't a place for casual browsers or trendy tastes. If you're here to sip coffee, take…read morepictures, and hunt for modern pop hits--respectfully, this isn't for you (and you'll feel it from across the room). This record shop is a time capsule, rooted in the 1970s, steeped in soul, and echoing with culture. The merchandise displayed on the walls and shelves are so priceless and rich in musical, theatric, and San Diegan history that they're not for sale--no matter the price. (I've asked lol) The records lining these shelves aren't just music--they're history. From rock to jazz, comedy & poetry, Disney soundtracks to local San Diego bands, it's a treasure hunt that gives you a THRILL. --first come, first served. What's here today might be gone tomorrow. Every vinyl is an Original Press--no reprints, no knockoffs. Each one hand-picked by the owner, preserved with passion, and waiting for someone who truly gets it. This isn't just a record shop. It's a legacy. THIS is true musical passion.

The owner abruptly interrupted us in a rude tone saying, "No pictures." I politely explained that I was just telling a story and wasn't taking any photos. Despite this, she kept repeating "no pictures" and continued staring us down while we browsed the store for 30 seconds until we left. We never even had our phones or cameras out, yet she kept accusing us. It made the whole experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
