My mother called Waste Management to have a dumpster placed on her property on May 24th 2019. The company gave her a 12-hour window to wait for the truck. She waited all morning for it to be delivered, but she had to leave for 2 hours in the afternoon. When she got home, the company had left a message on her phone saying the dumpster had been delivered on her property (it had not). She called back and they changed their story. They assumed that the driver tried to deliver the dumpster but was unable to do so. They offered to deliver it on a day the next week, but my mother would have had no one to help her on that day. She needed it when her help was available. Waste Management sent my mother a bill for over $200. When she called to ask about being charged for a service they never provided, the company changed their story yet again, and said the driver had made an attempt to deliver the dumpster, but could not do so because a tree branch was in the way of the delivery spot. Even though the service was never provided, and my mother never even saw the dumpster, Waste Management said they had to charge for the attempt. My mother spoke with several people in the company, including a manager, but they would make no compromise on the service fee. They explained that the agreement that they emailed (in fine print) obligated her to pay even if the dumpster was never delivered. Regardless, this company is poor at communicating with its customers regarding its services. This company is poor at communicating with its drivers regarding where they are, and whether or not a delivery attempt has been made. This company is poor at hiring capable drivers (there was absolutely no reasonable obstruction on my mother's property for even the most novice driver). This company is unwilling to compromise for its own mistakes and poor management. My mother will likely have to pay this bill, but she is definitely going to contact the ND Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. If you use Waste Management for your disposal needs, please be aware of this company's business practices. read more
