This business is awful. My son went in there to grab just a few items,that should have totaled $10. The girl at the register tried to charge him $44. I've heard they have a reputation of this scam. I called the owner today to let him know his employees were scamming. I've worked in restaurants most of my life. I understand the public can at times be a nuisance. This guy though was unbelievable,to the point where all we could do was laugh. He kept screaming at me,cussed at me...this man is not smoking herb, he's on meth or crack. I was visiting Memphis when I stopped into Wizards. I loved the appearance of the building and was mesmerized by their selection. However, as I was browsing I noticed their prices to be more than I had expected and the employee who was assisting me to be unprofessional. I will not say all the employees are unprofessional because I was eventually helped by a knowledgeable and helpful individual. As I was purchasing my product with ID in hand I was called out from across the room by the owner of the store. Customers looked at me as she shouted "Is the little short girl buying that...?" I felt extremely judged and embarrassed. I do not understand why such a big deal was made out of my turn at check out, but I do know I will not be purchasing anything from Wizard's again. read more

First off, I must commend the actual building that is Wizard's. Something about driving up to the place is oddly fascinating. It has a very hippy vibe and you cannot help but be intrigued by the place when you see it. This place is actually almost OCD clean- which you don't come to expect from a "smoke-shop." They have a wide array of blown glass pipes. Though I wouldn't necessarily use the term gorgeous to describe an item used to smoke tobacco, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful these pieces really were. There is so much detail and attention in each piece, and even my non-artistic eye could spot that. The staff here is friendly and laid back. Go figure- laid back? In a "smoke-shop"? Shocker right? In addition to smoking accessories, they have WoodWick Candles. I bought my first one here and have to say it has been added to my ever snobbish list of candles that I now adore. It's a very short list people. Wizard's also offers up incense, lighters, shoes, jewelry, crystals, detox drinks and pills and even some silly magnets and stickers. I hate to say it, but I wish I smoked so I had an excuse to come here more often. read more

I bought a vaporizer from here on recommendation from the dude who was working only to discover later that is was broken. Brought it back not even 24 hours later and was told they don't do exchanges or refunds. They do not let you know this before you purchase anything. They recommended I send it to the manufacturer. The parking situation isn't ideal with its 4 awkward spots in front of the store, but given the location, that's to be expected. Besides, parking a little ways away is good for your health. I will start by saying that I am a lifelong Memphian, and prior to my experience today, I would have rated the shop 2 or 3 stars. As far as merchandise goes, they have a decent selection, but there are better tobacco shops in terms of pricing and quality. One downside of this location is the parking situation. Directly in front of the store, there are 3 or 4 spots, but there is hardly enough space to back out - you have to back out nearly into traffic. This meager parking situation is remedied however by their back parking lot, which is connected to the front parking lot by a narrow lane. I pulled into the front lot today and took the narrow lane to the back lot, only to be blocked from the lot at the back of this lane by a parked SUV. I figured I would inform an employee of this vehicle situation as I asked my other questions. I went to this store to purchase a small piece which an employee informed me are only sold as part of a kit - you cannot buy them individually. I told him I know there are places that sell the bowl piece individually and asked him if he was sure he could not sell it to me that way - he cut me off. "If you know you can find it at other stores, why did you come here? Go to one of those other stores then!" I mentioned before leaving that there was a large SUV blocking the parking lane and he said "Well that's mine! Why don't I show you out the back door then!" I left through the front door after informing he that I would not be returning to his store. As I walked to the back parking lot to my car, I found that this employee had gone out the back door to intercept me and explain to me that he needs his car blocking the parking lane because he was unloading wood. I examined the parking lot around me and observed that there were a lot of open spaces close to his loading dock that would not have blocked the parking lane. This apparently set him off and he got in my face, threatening me with physical violence. "Boy if you say one more word I will knock your fuckin' teeth in!" As he was yelling at me another employee pulled up. I looked to him for help, as though he might calm the man down, but he did and said nothing. I was baffled and explained to him I merely was offering a helpful suggestion, again he threatened me "Boy, say one more fuckin word and I will knock you out!" and poked me in the chest. I got in my car and left, not eagerly anticipating a physical confrontation. By the manner with which this employee's anger escalated, I suspected that he was likely either drunk or intoxicated in some way. About 20 minutes later, I placed a call to the store to file a complaint with the manager, only to find out that the man who accosted me was the OWNER of the store. A woman spoke to me on the phone and as soon as I said I wanted to file a complaint she told me "You should have shut your motherfuckin mouth!" I promptly hung up. tl;dr Wizards used to be the only tobacco shop in Midtown. However, there is a relatively new shop called Young Avenue Glass on Young Avenue just east of Cooper in the Cooper/Young District (it's next to Java Cabana). Young Avenue Glass has better pricing, superior quality products, and chill employees. Wizards has exorbitant pricing, generic quality products, and an owner who threatens physical violence to patrons. Never go here if you respect professional glass making. This shop may look like a hippie store, but my experience today reveals it is merely show. read more

If I would give it 0 stars trust me I would! First of all I bought a e liquid vapor that I didn't want in the first place. They told me if I got it, I could bring it back because it was a gift for somebody. It was broke first to start off then when I get there they give me a new one but I told them I didn't want it Cuz it barely works. Then tell me I can't get a refund or exchange without the boss there? Bought one "Strip: Complete Body Cleanser" pill (Wizard's substitute for "Dr. Greens One-Shot"). I could have sworn it was cheaper than $40, but... purchased it anyways... "Whatever" literally had 3 cops in their parking lot, so.. I purchased the $40 pill. Next day, looked online, it's $20 free shipping from Walmart and other places. I first came to Wizard's initially because a friend who lives in Memphis recommended it over Whatever. I went to Wizard's and was impressed by their selection of what APPEARED to be quality merchandise. I picked out my piece (which ended up being $220 by the way). I noticed there was a little ding on the piece I was buying and asked for a discount. When the management would not give me a discount on it I should have just left, but was blinded by the beauty of the piece. Around a week later the piece fell over on the carpet and shattered. When I called into the store to see if they had any type of return policy or if I could maybe get an exchange the owner very rudely informed me that I should be more careful with my things. I would recommend that you go to Whatever for all your glass needs in Memphis. Overall I thought Wizard's had poor quality, over priced items coupled with rude management. I would highly discourage anyone from wasting their money here like I did, I'm short $200 without anything but cheap broken glass to show for it. read more

According to the owner: The ideal Wizards customer is: one who comes in, buys a at least $150 of (Wizard junk) without spending more than five minutes doing so, and get out... But come again. The owner of this place believes that the very few customers they actually have are only good for one thing...giving up money. Whenever the customers are not giving money, they are bothersome pieces of s**t. Every time I have been there, or anyone else I've asked for that matter, if they were even open due to their changing hours, it was a very bad experience. If you have a little hippie in you, you will love Wizard's. It's a very sharp, clean store inside of an older home. I was drawn in by the pretty fairy and wizard statuettes in the window -- when I entered I was surprised at how nice the interior looked, with an exceptional set-up of stock along the walls throughout the spacious store. You can find WoodWick candles, which crackle when they burn and smell amazing, in a variety of scents. If you love incense like I do, look no further -- high-quality incense in short and long sticks in a variety of scents. I picked fizzy pop, coconut, sandalwood, melon, and several vanilla and cinnamon sticks from an array of at least thirty-five scents. It's not the weak stuff -- it has a nice, strong scent. There's also a variety of beautiful Swarovski crystals, funny bumper stickers and magnets, incense matches, lighters, flip-flops, and an extensive collection of tobacco pipes made from beautiful blown glass, as well as a wide array of paper for hand-rolled cigarettes. read more

Have you people ever been to a head shop? Every shop I've ever been too, mind you its been a lot, has a no return policy. "If you break it you buy it" is the rule at every store I've ever been too. Stop complaining because you picked something you liked that got broken and they didn't replace it like you felt they should. I don't think wizards should be out of money due to your negligence. I was in TN and stopped by and their prices were good considering the quality of their stuff. You want cheap pieces go to a gas station and pick one up. The same worker most of yall are saying is rude had the perfect sense of humor for his job. If you think that he was rude then you should probably stop smoking "tabacoo" and not even buy pieces from their shop because obviously it isn't working for you. I personally loved this place and will definitely come back! I'd make the 2 and a half hour drive just to bullshit with the "rude" workers. read more
