But we felt fortunate that we discovered that after we discovered Milly's Pantry at the Pinwheel Market Cafe at 19 Main St. This is a non-profit operation that sells Birkett Mills products (and other local products) to support a program that feeds more than 600 needy kids in Yates County. I was happy to buy all the Birkett Mills products I wanted there, and we had some great iced tea (free refill!) there too. I can't figure out why the storefront place the mill office told us about (a) didn't have any signs or other indication there were mill products for sale there, and (b) was locked up at 4:30PM on a Friday, but I'm so glad we found the Pinwheel and its terrific mission that I don't really care.

We never really got the answer to our only question, about the lavender, but she pointed out that we walked through the "field" of lavender bushes, aka about twenty of them, but they were not in season. Having learned she just opened less than a month prior, there was still some clinks to work out. Her shop was a bit of a mix of a few things. First there was a case of chocolates. Next to that there was a few keurigs that was the coffee and tea the shop offered. On the other side there was a mix of little NYC-ish shop nick-nacks. So we tried out her candy, said to be shipped in from NYC. We got 6 pieces, and the flavors sounded good. After leaving, we tried them out, and not really blown away. Just ordinary, gourmet chocolate. Still intrigued by what this lavender farm actually offers though.
