However the wonderful bar staff mixed up some excellent blueberry infused vodka cocktails that were incredible. The blueberry flavor really came through tasting fresh and fruity. They mixed them to order also with mine being less sweet and my daughters being sweeter and they were spot on. The crowd is mixed age and there was plenty of tattoos and black leather but my sketchers and office attire is welcome too. I would definitely come back for another cocktail and maybe listen in on a local band next time.

I can't remember how much it cost the first time but the second time it was $13. I think that's a fair price for the show you get. If you want to make a reservation call ahead. I would suggest it but the bar seems like a suitable option as well. So far my favorite night was when Paul Spencer and band was playing because they had 5 people playing and they even played Steely Dan. This is a small spot so come early to hear the music at 9:30pm.

The bar area reminds me of what I what picture an upscale French prison to look like. It wasn't dreary, but it had bars and was dimly lit. Furniture seemed to be what you might see out in a French Cafe for outdoors seating. I had Gary as my bartender during my visit (I've seen him compete in a few bartender competitions in Milwaukee) and he can make a great Absinthe based cocktail. In fact, that's what the Elixir Lounge is known for. Gary was really knowledgeable about the Absinthe drip and had all the appropriate equipment to serve Absinthe the correct and technical way. I had either the Death Star or the Bloody Death Star, my memory on the specific drink is a little hazy. So, if you are looking to experience Absinthe for your first time, this has to be a stop you make. If you like Absinthe and are looking for a place to drink more of it... say hello to your new favorite drinking spot. Oh and smokers, they have a nice outdoor courtyard area for you to smoke in, I believe you can take your drink with you too.

Every time the experience starts off pretty awkward and eventually I end up warming up to the place again. The place always seems to be dark, dingy, and gloomy. Normally, I'd complain about this but in a goth/industrial club it works perfectly. The effect is made greater by the Halloween decorations that apparently line the top of the stage area (near the ceiling, to the right if you're facing the stage). Between this and some of the music they occasionally play (seriously, I remember being rickrolled by a DJ here, I can't say I expected that) it's clear that they have a sense of humor about themselves. I can't say how much I like that--the industrial scene is full enough of people who think they're such serious business, so anything that undermines that scores points from me. They're less ironic (if that's the right word) playlist selections are always great. If it's a reasonably well-known industrial artist, chances are you'll hear them here eventually. I've never tried to make a request, so I don't know how accommodating they are (and frankly don't care). I can't speak for the typical crowd here, because I've never been in on a "normal" night, but for special events the friendliness of the patrons seems to vary dramatically. I've been to concerts where everyone was super friendly and quick to open up, and I've been to other events where people seemed pretty reserved. It probably depends on what the draw is on a given night. The bartenders, even on busy nights, always seem friendly. At a club like this, that is always a huge, unexpected bonus. Another bonus: they introduced me to hard apple cider awhile back, so that was decent. The only drawbacks relate to concerts here: (1) the dance floor is pretty small, so it can get pretty packed if there's a big-ish show; (2) I went to one show here where things were starting up considerably after the advertised time. Those are really relatively minor gripes though; I hope to eventually check this place out on a normal night.

The stage is set up against the front window so passersby can see the excitement within, and the monitors are placed around the restaurant so all patrons can sing along. Naturally, it's exceptionally loud here, so hearing protection is recommended. When we were there, the vocalists ranged from trained singers to drunks hitting every wrong note. We heard hip-hop, country, rock, pop, and even metal, so you can step up and sing whatever you feel like. Adding your name is easy, and the hosts flow between acts so quickly that it won't take long for you to get your time to shine. What surprised me most was how often the hosts sang. The two bartenders Ernesto and Mahogany each have absolutely breathtaking voices (Ernesto in particular made my ladyfriends swoon), but they sang roughly every 4 songs despite a steady flow of various other voices that wanted a turn. To their credit, they also valiantly offered backup vocals for duets and seemed to know every song. I watched Ernesto taking orders and serving drinks with one hand while belting into the mic with the other. Definitely an impressive skill set, but they might consider stepping their participation back a bit. There's an electronic drum kit onstage, and later in the evening a guy named Sosa sat down at it and began accompanying most of the songs with flawless beats. I could watch him all night. There aren't many seats - there were about 5 tables lining the walls, which offers plenty of space for dancing, and lots of folks jumped up to dance. It was a very supportive atmosphere . So supportive, in fact, that an apparent regular named Jake came over to hit on my partner. We had fun and each got to sing what we wanted, but agreed that the place could be furnished and decorated a little more fully, and that the bartenders were a little overbearing and intimidating when it came to singing.

The bar itself isn't huge but it held our group of 50 or so pretty well. It was crowded but bearable. The bar is covered in artwork that was created by locals. Most of the artwork was available for purchase which I thought was really cool. As someone who appreciates art I would be interested in returning if only to see the rotating pieces. A portion of the event was outdoors so I was really excited about their outdoor heaters. Their 'backyard' is amazing. They have a huge projection screen set up for games and movies i assume. (We used it for the debut of a friend music video) There's also a huge patio area, outdoor bar, outdoor games, lots of picnic tables and several grills. The set up is unlike anything I've seen at a bar before and it's just really cool. I'm anxious to see how this large space is utilized once it warms up again. Besides drink purchases an employee also let us borrow an extension cord and was very accommodating.
