Went in for a job interview. Was told they would contact me even if I didn't get the position. Never heard from them. Very unprofessional

As a parent of an autistic child, I had concerns about this school environment from the beginning,…read moreparticularly regarding structure, support, student behavior, and how students with disabilities are treated socially and emotionally. Recently, my son reported repeated teasing from another student involving comments about him being autistic. He also shared that he informed staff previously and felt the issue was not addressed. After a separate recess incident involving another student and a basketball being thrown hard enough to hurt him, I felt it was important to advocate more strongly for his safety and emotional well-being. I understand no school is perfect and children can have conflicts anywhere, but as a parent, I did not feel confident that this environment was the best fit for my child's needs. My experience left me concerned about supervision, social-emotional support, and responsiveness to bullying concerns involving students with disabilities. Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, supported, and protected at school. For families considering this school, especially families with children who have IEPs, autism, or sensory/social support needs, I strongly encourage asking detailed questions about how disability-related teasing, bullying concerns, and student support are handled on campus. Ultimately, I decided to pursue a different educational environment that I believe will provide more structure, support, and accountability for my son.

We were able to stay for a full 8 days before taking our child out of this school! STAY AWAY FROM…read moreTHIS SCHOOL!!! I will begin with stating that our child was 6 years old in 2nd grade, which is young. He started a new school and we were getting a phone call every single day. EVERY SINGLE DAY. He is not that bad as he has had perfect days in his new school. We had already told them that he would need a transition time adjust to this new school and older schoolmates. The story begins..... The principal, Kelvin Jackson, told our child to "Shut up and come with me." after a particularly tough day at school. He did sent us an apology letter. As his father, I could accept that, but we knew that this wasn't the school for him to grow in faith or academically. We did pay over $600+ for him to be in school for a whole 8 days. We spoke with the on-site superintendent, Jason Yarbrough, (the only other review for the school, see below) after initially getting blown off by him the week before. He stated that we HAVE TO PAY $65 FOR AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE!!! We respectfully let him know that we had pulled him out from the principals actions, but that didn't matter as he continuously pointed out the behavior of our child and justify his principal. Of course we are going above and beyond to let parents know and are getting in contact with the school board. Charles

I am so happy I picked Natomas Christian School (NCS). Prior to my son starting school in August-2015 my beautiful wife and mother to my son died from cancer in January-2015. Needless to say we were still deep in our grief. I was faced with having to decide on the best school for my son that would understand the emotional trauma he was in and would work with me to make his transition as smooth as it could be under the circumstances. I looked at both public school and private schools. I quickly knew public school was not an option. My son needed a school that shared the same Christian beliefs as me, promoted prayer in school, did not use the Common Core curriculum, was affordable, had extended care, had a summer program and had small class sizes. NCS met my expectations to the letter. My son's kindergarten teacher (Mrs. Flowers) was the perfect teacher. She had a background in Psychology and was an experienced teacher. My son's transition was rough in the beginning but his teacher and school prayed for him and worked with him. In time he adjusted fine and was reading by Christmas! He is also good at double digit math and his overall confidence level has improved tremendously. I highly recommend NCS to anyone looking for a new school with small class sizes who view educating kids in the way it should be done. The staff and teachers are top notch and I'm very happy with where my son is emotionally, spiritually and academically. God Bless NCS!!

For being in the top 20 of his class, he's been offered a full-ride to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and will join their Electrical Engineering program when he gets back from bootcamp for the US Air Force Reserve! My child is definitely an over achiever, but please don't sleep on Fortune School. I enrolled him as a Kindergartener. He's the baby of 6 and the only one FORTUNate enough to be in a charter school from beginning to end. The difference between my public school educated kids and him is glaringly obvious. He has been poured into not only at home, but his educators have literally empowered, and uplifted this kid to unimaginable heights, and the experience with my older children in public school settings was never like this. I especially appreciate the goal of "closing the achievement gap." That means that my little brown son wasn't unnecessarily sent home when he was in class talking too much the way public school did my older children. He was treated with patience. He was advised that there was a time and a place for his voice to be heard. He was given chances and not just pushed aside, overlooked, and treated like a nuisance. From Fortune Elementary School, to Ephraim Williams College Prep, all the way to Fortune High School, this kid was loved for 13 straight years outside of my home and I'm not just proud of the young man he is and is becoming. I'm also proud of every single staff member we've encountered along the way. Some of them were already a part of our lives, but the rest will always be as dear as family every time we cross paths. My son right above him also attended from 2nd to 8th grade. He was a bit more of a challenge, because he just didn't do as well in such a structured environment, but the teachers loved him and covered him as long as he was one of theirs. One day after work, I went to pick the kids up from daycare, and my provider advised me that child #5 wasn't allowed to leave the school, and I was advised to go there to get him. I was LIVID! I didn't feel like going the opposite direction on Stockton Blvd. to get him, and I was ready to give somebody at fortune school a piece of my mind about it. However, when I pulled up to the school, I parked directly in front of Mrs. Howards 3rd grade class and what I saw brings tears to my eyes even now and it's been 10 years. My son was seated at a table, obviously working on a difficult assignment, but Mrs. Howard was next to him, not seated, but on her knees, on the bare floor, tutoring him one-on-one. School had let out at around 4pm. I wasn't off till 5, and it took me about 30 minutes to get to the daycare, another 10 to round up the kids, and another 10, to drive back to the school. So here it is nearly 2hrs after school had let out, when Mrs. Howard should have been home with her own children, but she was sacrificing her free time to help ensure the success of mine. She has held a special place in my heart ever since. I have similar stories about, Monisha Blake, Odisa Nyong, Mr. Emeh (RIP), Malcolm Ajai, Mrs. Kirksey, Ms. Royal, Mrs. East, Mrs. Ibarra, Mr. Jones, Joseph Gambino, Stefon DuBose, Marcus Atkins, and many others. I would recommend the Fortune family of schools to any family that wants to give their child a quality education, while preparing them for college from the very first day. I'll forever be an advocate, and spokesperson for this amazing organization. #FortuneProud #FortuneStrong

We couldn't have been more wrong. Her 4th grade teacher was very strict and overloaded her students with work even after covid started. What was more infuriating is that many of the teachers knew her teaching style and never once thought about addressing it. Now my daughter started the 5th grade doing distant learning and these people are ridiculous! They're very rude and unbothered by the amount of stress theyve placed on my daughter who has adhd. We understood there were some issues on my daughter's end which weve been working with her on but the principal as well as her teachers have attacked my daughter. The behavior that her teachers displayed towards my daughter was never resolved and the principal brushed off our complaint as a connection issue and lack of us creating a "positive" environment for my daughter. Who by the way has broken down in tears because of the teachers video cutting out so we cant hear her, them constantly talking over her or ignoring her. Shes trying her damn hardest to participate but theyve consistently made it difficult to do so. In the end they had the nerve to suggest she take in person tutoring or classes on campus or have round the clock monitoring. Overall, These teachers have made her despise school! She hates it because of them! These are some snobby ass people and i feel thier behavior towards my daughter was racially motivated and bias against her disability. Iam extremely disappointed at what theyve done to my child and we're working (again) to place her in another school that better fits her needs. This school is not one of them.
