Great place for family of 5 visiting Oxford. Full English breakfast is served. Room in the attic is nice but beware of the low beams.

Visiting Witney for the weekend, and this is a pretty good place to stay. It is near to a Lidl and…read moreMcDonalds, but luckily out of smell-range of the latter. The rooms are clean, well kept and with a very comfortable bed, actually enough of a comfortable bed that we pulled it out from the wall to see if we could find out what type of mattress it was. Because the hotel is 'new', opened in Feb 2014, the delivery tags were still attached. It was pocket sprung, with a foam topper. There is a restaurant come bar downstairs, which we didn't go to. It looked a little like a cafeteria in an airport, but I guess you shouldn't judge without trying. My main gripe, and what makes this less than a 5-star review is the WiFi. You get 30 minutes of time connected after going through the login page, which loads painfully slowly because of the suspicious total lack of 3G connectivity inside (and only inside) the hotel. The 30 minutes are counted from the second you login, there is no logout, and that is all you get for free in 24hrs. You can buy more time online for about £3 per day, but only using the checkout process separately - it can't be booked ahead of time or just added to your room bill. The frustrating free taste of the internet connection also confirmed that it is in-fact a crappy 8mb adsl connection anyway. Please hotels, get a damn fibre connection and let people use it, it really isn't expensive if you add a couple of quid to the room. Okay, enough of the rant. The location is pretty good, you can walk to Witney town centre in about 15 minutes. If I ever come back, then this is where I will stay, no question...well, provided they fix their internet connection ;)

Sorry dude, out of elderberry mojitos. Oh, BTW, we're also out of the special of the day (salmon). Okay cool. Then we got served the wrong meal. So we waited another half hour and finally got served the right meal. The kids pasta was super bland and underseasoned. The burger was fine, but nothing spectacular. Save yourself some time and go somewhere else. The only reason this isn't a one star is because the host and waitress were kind, attentive, and apologetic, and there was a really cool boar with a top hat. I have a hope this was just a really tough night for them.

And it's this garden area that makes the pub for me. It's a lovely, spacious and extremely relaxing place to kick back if the weather allows. If I was a local I would mostly only come to the pub on such days. Otherwise it's mostly only for dining. To their credit the chilli and lime burger was very tasty, as it should be for the price that they were charging. So I give it 3 but that's more than 3 when the weather favours the garden and perhaps less when it does not.

There was no advanced warning about this. ** Shampoo/conditioner are 1, not separate and there's no body lotion. ** No elevators for those who have heavy luggage or trouble with stairs. ** Sink was 1 hot faucet 1 cold faucet; I like vintage things...but not like that. ** No A/C or fan control in the room ** No fridge or water in room ** Room wasn't cleaned til about 5pm. POOR AMENITIES: - The fitness center not open until 6:30am and is very very bare bones at best. - Restaurant service was not friendly at all - neither for breakfast or dinner service, and there's no grocery store / restaurant or anything nearby. TLDR: While the sheep are nice, and it's peaceful, the terrible room and rude service, I won't be back and WOULD NOT recommend staying here.

My room was around the back and little more than a travelodge level quality and the receptionist was rude. My first impression, i.e. My conversation with her, set the mood. I was stressed and tired, she was impatient and blatantly lied to my face after I'd asked her to book a taxi and said she would call the room and didn't. Shame.

The inn has had a makeover and would not look out of place on the pages of an interiors magazine. The large garden out the back is one of its main features with views across rolling fields. Blankets are provided on those slightly chilly British Summer evenings. One of Asthall's main attractions is a sculpture park set up in Asthall Manor every other year. The 2018 edition of 'on form' will be open from 10 June to 8 July - an absolute highlight of contemporary stone sculpture in the beautiful settings of a traditional house and garden, and just a short walk from the Maytime. Asthall doesn't have a train station but taxis are available from nearby Charlbury.

For European and U.K. Travelers where less is good enough, the size of the rooms won't matter. For US travelers who are used to more, two of these rooms could fit in the typical too small hotel/motel room. For a weekend there would be no problem but for travelers with suitcases on extended stays in the U.K., it's just a little too small to be comfortable. We had to pack up our suitcases to get the bed made which doesn't make traveling relaxing That being said, the Maytime Inn is quite a wonderful place to enjoy. I'm extremely critical about things like ample plugs for electronics, bathroom counter space, workspace for laptops, shower head height, plush towels, a great shower, high toilets, etc to name a few things that make a stay comfortable to me. The location, people, gardens and cleanliness make the Maytime Inn a great value for the money and a place I would not hesitate to stay again.
