I first contacted Trapper over a year ago to quote trimming and removing a large number of trees…read moresurrounding my cabin as he comes highly recommended. I contemplated and delayed as I have many renovation projects consuming cash, so I am always deciding what is up next. I had Trapper out again last fall to re-confirm the quote, he was very patient with me. Finally pulled the trigger on March 14th where we drew up a simple contract and provided my deposit. March 18th brought acceptable weather and 8:30am the crew showed up. These guys work hard climbing trees, saws blazing and they function like a true team; coach Trapper paving the way. Finished the next day... in/out done! Trapper is very skilled at what he does and the communication along the way was fantastic. He reminds me of a golfer lining up his shot when he meticulously plans where he wants the tree to fall. Kind of like a surgeon working the saw, wedges/sledge and an occasional rope and pull. He is so good! He ran decisions by me while working and had me walk with him several times to make sure I was satisfied. I am a very particular person and Trapper exceeded my expectations. Could not be happier with the quality of job and working with him from start to finish. Trust me, you want Trapper to do your job!!

ZERO STARS. Absolutely avoid this contractor!!! In addition…read moreto our experience, we became aware of other similar concerns reported by homeowners and observed patterns in online reviews, including Yelp, describing issues such as shingling over rot, ignoring underlying problems, and cutting corners. For our project, they failed to pull the required permit and it was only discovered when we looked into it after some red flags. We confirmed the permit was never pulled directly with our township, which indicated this has been an ongoing issue they have encountered with this contractor. We also spoke with other local township offices and reviewed public permit records in nearby areas, where we found additional properties associated with this contractor that did not have permits on file. They subcontract jobs out--sometimes posting and looking for crews in Facebook roofing groups--and had limited oversight of what was happening on site. As a result, the work on our house did not follow shingle manufacturer installation guidelines, did not comply with Michigan building codes, and they installed new shingles over an improper base without removing the old roof down to the deck for inspection. Without our permission and against Michigan building code, they notched our trusses during a minor repair, causing structural damage that will need correction. They also attempted to charge for work that was not completed. When we raised these concerns with the owner and provided proof, he denied the issues, insisted the work was "up to code," and was dismissive. He claimed he would pull a permit and get the roof to pass inspection--but he never did. We subsequently hired an independent building inspector, who confirmed multiple violations of Michigan building codes. We were forced to hire a lawyer and dispute the charges with our credit card company. As a result, we now have an unpermitted roof that must be completely redone, along with truss repairs. Do your homework: check reviews, confirm who will actually do the work, get everything in writing, and make absolutely sure the contractor pulls the required permit. We were fortunate to be home during the project and document everything that occurred or we would have no idea what was under our roof. We trusted this company and had a negative experience. STONGLY recommend choosing another contractor. DO NOT USE FOR GUTTERS EITHER.

I had to have a new roof put on after the ice storm. They did not take out a permit so there was no inspection. Emmet County opened up a investigation so an inspector came out. He confirmed that they had not done a good job. I messaged the owner three times last month with no reply. I finally called and a man did come out and went up and said that definitely there were things done wrong and he would be coming back to fix them with the inspector. He didn't know when so I'm going to have to call them again to get a timeline. Do not hire this company.

Dishonest. Unprofessional…read more I hired Jay Gries owner of Thunderbay Pressure Washing & More on November 10th 2023 to clean the exterior of my grandmothers small Oscoda home. The invoice was paid in full on November 10 2023, this included an advance payment of $200.00 to clean the calcium off of the house and another $170.00 payment for 2 gallons of F9 he said was needed to remove the calcium stains. He included this description on the invoice "Will return in spring at start to do this". He did not return and complete the job, he did not phone, text or email me. I reached out to Jay Gries in early April 2024 and asked him if he had a timeline for the job completion. He sent me an x ray, part of a doctors diagnosis and explanation that he was temporarily unable to work and needed more time. I politely agreed to wait. June 4th 2024 approximately 6 weeks have passed and no contact from Jay Gries. I reach out again and ask if he is going to complete the job he was paid in full for. He says he needs to finish physical therapy and will be back to work in about 2 weeks. July 15 continued silence from Jay Gries and Thunderbay Pressure Washing so I email him again, include the Venmo information and request a refund for the $370.00. A member of my family went ahead and completed the cleaning on my grandmothers home and I let him know he can cancel the remaining work. I told him I had been more than patient and polite waiting for him to complete the job from November 10 2023. He claims he is not ignoring me and says yes he will refund me. He also sends an image of a burned truck with body damage and claims he was in an accident and was in the hospital. Today is August 8th 2024 and he has not returned the $370.00 and has not contacted me by any other means. It is curious that there are at least a half a dozen current reviews thanking him for his pressure washing services. They have all occurred during this time. Thunderbay Pressure Washing & More is not accredited by BBB. I have no idea why Jay Gries would include the Better Business Bureau logo on their website claiming they are an accredited business.
