If he did, he would…read morehave suggested I keep my wisdom teeth embedded in my jaw when my incompetent and careless orthodontist referred me to him again for wisdom teeth removal. Not everyone needs their wisdom teeth removed. For some, the risks don't outweigh the benefits. I had a rare and complicated orthodontic case with 4 premolars removed and then when I was 14, Dr. Levine did surgery to expose my 4 impacted canine teeth. At age 18, I questioned Dr. Levine about whether I should get my wisdom teeth removed - shouldn't I try to keep them? Finally he doubtfully said I could try but that I'd definitely need braces again. He is not an orthodontist, and if he were being honest, he would have told me either way I would need braces again. After feeling ashamed about my teeth for my entire adolescence there was nothing I wanted less than to have braces again. That convinced me. That was stupid, they're called wisdom teeth for a reason. I now have gaps in my upper teeth that opened shortly after my wisdom teeth was removed. I remember the last time I saw my pediatric dentist, which was a few months after I got my wisdom teeth removed, he said he was EXCITED about my wisdom teeth. I said quietly I got them removed. Later, I was in the chair and he was looking at my mouth, almost looking to see if my wisdom teeth were growing in when I complained about the gap that had opened up between my two front teeth. He said OH, that will close up when your wisdom teeth grow in. Well, then I made it clear they were gone and he had a horrified look on his face. He was clearly upset this was done to me. My upper 2nd molar is now twisted out toward my cheek on one side because there is so much space behind it where my wisdom teeth would have likely grown in fine. When I go to the dentist, they lament "you poor thing" "what happened to you" and pity me. Thanks to Doctor Levine who did not care enough to give me good advice and instead chose to line his own pockets. Dr. Levine was trained as a dentist was and he knew this along with jaw issues would happen to me. Now that my brain and jaws are fully developed, I realize I was treated like I was done growing at 12 years old and this gave me the false idea that I could never be enough. He loves ripping peoples teeth out a bit too much. He chooses money over the health of his patients. Doctors will lie and give unsound medical advice for money and to make their jobs easier. Dr. Levine is in on this corruption. I suggest avoiding this place on principle.

I did a lot of research on dental surgeons in NJ, and we were impressed with his reviews and expertise. Unfortunately, Dr. Erakat's lack of bedside manner and professionalism has deterred my daughter and me from moving forward with the surgery with his practice. Dr. Erakat walked into the room and immediately started to talk about my daughter's dental images. This was our first time at the office, we'd never met him before, and a preschooler would've known to walk in and at least say, "Hi, how are you? I'm Dr. Erakat" then lead into your spiel. So he came in and started talking at us, talking as if my daughter was an adult like I wasn't in the room, and he never checked to see if we had any knowledge about anesthesia or the procedure in general. After he finished talking at us, I looked at him and said, "Hello, nice to meet you," to give him a hint that he was shrewd and rude. Dr. Erakat spent maybe 5 minutes with us in total. He was very short, especially when I informed him that my daughter would be having a deviated septum surgery and asked him if there was a preference to have one of the surgeries before the other and the waiting period between surgeries. I've worked with and have seen an array of doctors, and unfortunately, Dr. Erakat was one of the rudest I've encountered. If the person going to perform surgery on my child can't give her the time and attention she deserves to make her feel comfortable, I don't want them anywhere near her. We will NOT return nor recommend this dental office. I don't know if Dr. Erakat is just really busy or if he didn't want to work with us. Either way, we will find a dentist that greets us, takes the time to explain the procedure, and someone who actually wants to work with us.

Dr. Melker is not just an Oral Surgeon, he's also a great Dentist. I was surprised to find him…read morelisted here, and not under the general dentistry category, but I suppose that is because he has not bothered to claim his Yelp listing yet. Growing up I ate a lot of candy, ice cream, cereal and other junk food, like most kids and as a result had a lot of cavities, even on into my adult teeth (not just my baby teeth). My previous dentist's had filled my mouth with the silver-mercury amalgams, and it wasn't until I was about 20 that I started learning more about natural health and wellness, organic foods, and so forth, when I began to learn about the dangers of mercury-amalgams. As a result I sought out a holistic dentist who could replace my fillings with a non-toxic dental material, and somehow by good fortune I was lucky enough to find Dr. Melker. He actually had me do some lab-work first to match my serum up against all possible dental materials to ascertain which one's my body would be the least sensitive or allergic to, in order to find the best material to replace my cavities with. After getting my cavities re-filled I continued to see Dr. Melker for regular cleanings for many years, and they were always so impressed with my oral health, telling me how good a job I did taking care of my teeth, that they eventually recommended I only come in once a year, rather than the standard once every six months. They are definitely not just out to milk money out of their patients but will actually work out a plan that treats the individual. I always found Dr. Melker to be very professional, taking the time to explain things, but not only that, he is personable and has a very calming demeanor, and seems to genuinely care about his patients. I myself never had a phobia or fear of dentists, but I know that many people do and I can only imagine that going to Dr. Melker would be a more welcome experience for most. Even the atmosphere of his office and waiting room always made me feel kind of "zen" and calm. I live in Texas now, and am searching on Yelp for a new dentist here, and thought that the least I could do was leave a review for Dr. Melker (my first review ever) whom I've always respected and had a great doctor-patient relationship with. In fact, I've lived here for 5 years now, and for the first two years, I would wait until visiting my family back in NJ during Thanksgiving to coordinate my annual cleaning appointment w/ Dr. Melker. Now I've put off finding a new dentist here for the past three years because I hate the thought of trying to find someone new, and as good as Dr. Melker.

There was never ever any real advice how to take care of my teeth by any other dentist. I was sick and tired hearing: "Brush your teeth better, longer, and "all the time :)". And, of course, brush on, swallow, and "breath" fluoride. Nothing worked ever!!! I was always afraid of dentists before him, but he has this calming effect that I can't explain. I was literally falling asleep on his dental chair a couple of times. He does not rush or run from one room to another room, and never double books. He will squeeze you in his busy schedule in case of emergency, but he still does not take his time away form any regular patient at all. There is just no rushed feeling which makes such a difference to me. I guess this is the part of his magic to make me feel supper calm since he is always calm and not rushing. My kids panic when they see doctors and it's nearly impossible to make them to cooperate. Well, Dr. Melker convinced them to get in the chair and show him their teeth. It worked. Thanks to priceless information from Weston A. Price and useful information from Dr. Melker, my kids have great teeth, unlike me at their age. Ask him questions. The information you will get is priceless.

I read all about implants and when I saw the doctor and spoke to him, he knew every single bit of information I was prepared to ask about. A smart gentlemen! He gave comprehensive and detailed information, no BS, just substance. Extraction was a breeze. Started with no-pain anesthesia (Raul is using a cool technique to make sure you don't feel pain from the needle). Tooth was out in no time. Bone graft in place. Stitches were placed so quickly I did not have time to notice (confident stitches are a sign of a very skilled surgeon). Healing was pain free. I did not use any pain meds and all pain was gone by day 3. Bone graft was installed perfectly and tooth was ready for implant in 3 months. Next, the implant. 3D scan, surgery on the same day, did not use pain meds at home, was pain-free after about 3 days. A week after placing the implant I felt my mouth free from any hints I had surgery. I am very impressed. Dr. Figueroa is a thinking surgeon with outstanding hands. A.K. PS I just saw he won "best in New Jersey" award, what else can I add.

I can only describe my experience with this dental office and you can do the judgement…read moreFirst red flag was that once I was in the chair and x-ray was done, nurse told me that they are "unregulated office" and they will charge my debit card for $750 and then will reimburse it to me once they get payment from my dental insurance. Second red flag was that Meghna Desai told me right away that most probably the wisdom tooth will break and if she can not remove pieces I will have to come back in a week when they will come by them self's I had a broken wisdom tooth for extraction, all my 3 other previous wisdom teeth were extracted within 30 sec almost without pain by other dentists so I was not afraid... The dentist did not even try to extract the tooth. She started with cutting the gum next to the healthy tooth, They she start drilling the wisdom tooth directly into the nerve causing pain even under the anesthesia. My protests that I came for extraction and not for any drilling she replied that it is hard for her to hold the tooth like this and continue to drill. The only reason I didn't standup and leave was that my gum was already cut open.. After 2 hours of this torture she managed to poke the tooth out (not extract) and needle the gum back without much cleaning inside. I asked for antibiotic to ensure there are no infection - she refused and directed me to get Tylenol in CVS After the physical torture was over the financial torture begin. The office submitted a medical claim to my insurance specifying their services as "Miscellaneous" I have both medical and dental insurances with Aetna. Aetna declined this claim as they do not understand what was actually done and put the whole amount against my deductible paying me NOTHING. The dental office did not stop there today they sent me additional $370 they think I owe them because their claim was denied. I am not going to this office ever again, It is up to you to decide otherwise.

This is a bit of a long story, will attempt to make it as concise as possible…read more Started with mild discomfort. Saw my regular dentist. He saw issues with 2 teeth. One was a prior root canal & other showed a suspicious possible infection. He referred me to an endodontist. They confirmed issue with prior root canal & agreed issue with adjacent tooth & mentioned a cyst that had to be addresed. Said both teeth need to be extracted. The extraction of both teeth would be followed up with implants. They advised seeing implant specialist & have him extract both teeth & prepare for implant. Went to implant guy. He confirmed prior opinions. All this time I had no pain or discomfort. Per my dentist I'd been on Amoxicillin and it appeared to mitigate the infection & pain. He said both teeth need to come out, but he was unable to do extractions & suggested I see an oral surgeon. My wife had seen Dr. Sasportas' associate last year. Called his office. Had initial consultation with Dr. Sasportas. He was very patient very calm & confident demeanor. After looking at x-rays he was confident he could repair prior root canal with no extraction. Other tooth was inconclusive re: extraction but thought it would probably need to come out. He also explained the infection & cyst was a big problem due to proximity to my eye. If cyst burst I could lose vision in that eye. He was very patient & answered all of my questions. Scheduled surgical appointment for following week. At surgical appointment De. Sasportas reviewed everything with me. Again very patient calm demeanor. He also reassured me the procedure would be painless. All through the procedure he was speaking to me updating me on progress & reassuring me all was going according to plan & his expectations. When he was done he surprised me telling me he was able to remove infected area behind the tooth & no extractions were necessary. I had 1 dentist telling me looked like I may need 2 teeth extracted. I had 2 specialist confirming 2 teeth-needed to be extracted followed by 2 implants. And Dr. Sasportas says, No Extraction required. I left his office with all my teeth in place & 6 stitches in my gum. Following the surgery I experienced ZERO PAIN. Not even minor discomfort requiring no pain meds not even Tylenol. As he said, there'd be no pain he was right. Job well done- start to finish.

I really appreciate the great chair side manner of Dr. Sasportas…read more He and his staff are excellent No one is happy to remove a wisdom tooth, but I have complete confidence with this dental practice I hope, this is my last tooth removed Highly recommend !!!!
