I currently telecommute for work but working at home can be a little isolating. So I go to the library to work in a quiet environment that allows me to focus yet is open and bright(lots of windows). The furniture is comfortable, there is free WiFi, the librarians are pleasant and helpful, and as a town resident I can reserve a meeting room for times that I need to talk on the phone with my co-workers. I know that this is not the traditional use of the library but since we pay taxes to support it, as long as I don't disturb anyone else in the process, I feel perfectly good about it. I wrote my dissertation in a public library years ago and came to appreciate them not only for this sort of thing but as a continuing center of the community. They are a hive of activity that we should maintain. And for me, when I take breaks from work, I enjoy the magazines and books available to me. Support your local library!

The building is open and bright, with plenty of seating spread throughout the space and I had no trouble finding a table with power nearby so that I could settle in and send a few emails. It's the kind of place where you can get a lot done without feeling crowded and the overall atmosphere is calm in a way that makes focusing pretty easy. The only real bummer is the study room policy. They only allow library card holders (i.e., residents) to use them, which meant that I had to leave before my Zoom meeting so that I wasn't disturbing other patrons. I would have stayed longer otherwise, because everything else about the visit was great. There's an app to do holds or search the catalog which I suppose is standard now. You can save your library card and check out with an RFID system... place books on scanner and scan library card. Done. I can search for things, place a hold and know when they are available.

This DML branch opened in 2019. Like other DML branches, it is clean and well-maintained…read more It has a larger children's and teen's section than some of the other branches, including a teen quad and opportunity space which appears to be geared towards arts and crafts. Reservable spaces include a quad for up to 4 people, group room for up to 8 people, conference room for up to 10 people and large community room for up to 90 people. There's also a quiet reading area with two 4-person tables, two 2-person tables and some reading chairs. Most of these spaces are on the inner portion of the library, so they lack windows. Other than the reservable spaces, there's not a whole lot of other places to sit -- only two other larger tables, one of which is occupied by a community puzzle. Of note, it gets rather cold here so bring a jacket if you plan on staying a while!

We moved here 34 years ago, and never expected to stay. But we have (though we are moving soon to…read moredownsize). When we came, there was one stop light in town, and it was rural. Not so much anymore, it's really grown. But kept it's small town feel. Crime rates are low as you find anywhere, even thought people consider it a speed trap. The police have to do something after all. Schools are highly rated, but the big controversary is they need another levy to pay those huge salary and it's already too high. In most cases, we do get what we pay for. It's a great place to live. We won't go far.

We will go to the Greene County Library in Xenia which has a much bigger and better selection with digital resources like Libby and Hoopla. My daughter downloads audiobooks to her iPhone now and checks out books for her Kindle reader. It's only 7 miles away. I regret donating money to this puny little library which seems like it is interested in bothering but exhorting money from children by charging 2$ to make a Valentine's Day card.
