i am writing this review because things are finally coming out about this place. The older man who runs this place heard me and my friends cuss at the beach with nobody else present. We were 13-15 year olds at the time and he came out spitting on us. We had to call the police and they responded so we reported his behaviour. last time i checked, cussing was not illegal but spitting on children is definitely assault. he was not charged. read more

I do not recommend this resort staff is horrible and has no respect I am a teenage boy and was messing around on the doc with a Friend while the manager brooke had told me to stop messing around and I had complied with the rules but then he had requested that I get off of the doc and leave while my mom was on her way to go talk to him he had ran to go get on his boat only to get close to the doc and scream profanity and me and my friends while he was on his boat my mom approached other staff and they were absolutely no help whatsoever as the manager Brooke had came back to shore he had started yelling profanity at my mom and telling us to get the F*ck out of the resort and he had mentioned that he would give us a refund when we requested the refund he started getting very upset inside of the store yelling at customers to leave and had told the staff to lock the doors and yelling profanity at my relatives and friends we had eventually got the refund but when we received the refund we had requested a receipt and the manager Brooke slammed the piece of paper on the table and said her is your F*cking receipt Leave. Rude, not honest, and Liars. If I could give a 0 I would! We had our annual family trip scheduled for this resort. I booked it several months in advance and booked the 8-person cabin. About a week before our trip, I received and email we had a 6-person cabin as I only registered 6 people. I called and explained that we now had 8 and that is why I booked the 8-person cabin (which is now not available). I was told by the very nice gal on the phone it would be ok to bring 8 we would just need to pay an extra fee for them. When we arrived and I went to check in the male person was extremely rude. Said we had a dog hidden in one of our cars and could not have the cabin if we had 8 guests. He also insisted the resort does not have an 8-person cabin. Not true look it up on the web page. While I am talking with him his worker admitted they had changed our cabin to my daughter. After he insisted on checking our cars for the dog we did not have, he still refused us the cabin. I asked if we could also rent a tent site and we could use both. He also refused us this. I had 4 children with us who are now devastated as this is a Holiday weekend and where are we going to go. Thankfully the amazing people at Deer Lake resort had a check out that morning and brought in staff to clean a cabin for us so we could stay there. From the minute we arrived at Winona resort we were treated like a problem and called liars. Then our vacation was almost ruined, and this man could care less. I cannot imagine they do not need to make as much money as posable during the summer season. We spent well over $300 plus in extras at the store at Deer Lake Resort and will be returning there for our next trip. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. My family and I booked a cabin here, for 8, months in advance. We looked forward to it, the day finally came and we arrived. It did looked packed but we were still excited. We pull up in 3 separate cars and go into the office to check in. I stayed in the car with the kids and the lanky white male, who now I know is the manager, told me where to go. I went up to where he told me our cabin was. Several mins pass and my step mom, who went into the office, said we have a problem. Brook was closely behind her and all he said was "you have a dog." My response was no, as we didn't have a dog. He is admit we have a dog and I offer he can look in my car. Proceeds to search all 3 of our cars. No dog. He gives a half ass apology. Then he proceeds to refuse us entrance as we have 8 guests and the cabin was for 6. Oh, did I mention we booked the 8 guest cabin but because we only listed 6 they moved us cabins! Said it was against their insurance policy, we asked for a camp site. He said no. The teenagers that work there are just as terrible, snotty and rude. Saying "if he saw a dog then we must have one". We got a refund and left. Went to deer lake resort and enjoyed our vacation. Don't waste your time here. They are rude, terrible people and don't deserve to run this beautiful area. read more

The staff was great, starting with Shantel, who had great correspondence with us and getting the reservation set up and completed and working with us. Then we got to the resort, and Morgan and Brook took great care of us. It really made us feel like we were at home and valued for the week that we were there. The cabins were nice. Unfortunately, we were there during a heat wave and an open fire ban, so no grilling, but with the cabins, we were able to feed all of our reunion. The staff let us know about the key to catching some fish, and we caught a lot of rainbow trout and brown trout every day. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. If you are planning a nice getaway, I would recommend it for you. Also, try the cheesesticks at the store it was a big hit with the kids! read more

In 20 years of Rving this was our worst mistake by FAR! A $5,000 dollar mega mistake! We showed up 3 days after the season started and it was a huge mistake. The people to our left where allowed to push into our space by 3 feet because ya know how dare I not show up on the first day and go to a funeral. Our window was literally 8 inches from our neighbors on one side so we could at least open our door on the other side to exit the RV. It was not mentioned any were in our lengthy agreement that the little patch in front of the RV was actually 2 HUGE trees with enormous roots. This made it impossible to put a grill on it or chairs of any kind. and the trees did not make for a a beautiful view of the lake. In between the trees was a very small picnic table that was so small our 11 year could not even sit at it. But she was the only one that could squeeze between the trees to attempt sitting at it. For all the rules they have in place for quite (like no music) they sure are happy to have endless ATVing going on. Many guys would go get on there ATV and start it up and let it idle while grabbing a beer then drive over 4 RVs and leave the ATV idling and grab a buddy. Then that buddy would start his ATV and let it idle while he gets his "stuff". Now 2 ATVs are idling. Then off they drive 2 RVs down and we start all over. It reminds me of being a kid in the 70's and riding your bike from friend house to friends house to get enough to play Simon said. But this is really loud and obnoxious. We would often have kids in out little area to climb the trees and they would step all over our stuff and break it in getting to the trees. If they would hurt themselves we would then have to find the parents who would inevitably be upset we let them climb the tree. We parked our RV here with a summer rental for $5,000 and ended up only using 6 times. We gave up after I tripped over a tree root and had my nail in my right big toe more or less ripped out and we had to go to Newport for 8 stitches. Ive been going to Winona Beach resort for 3 years now. Its a beautiful place if you have a site right on the lake, the lake is to die for. They are under new ownership as of this year and have a new manager who is a lot nicer then the previous one. Plus he keeps on top of everything and the park seems cleaner and he even has time to make the best breakfast sandwiches for you in the store. I hope they dont change ALL the spots and make them into seasonal sites. That would be a bummer for the rest of us who can only enjoy a camping site by the lake 1 weekend a year. Just got back from a weekend full of RV Camping. This is our first time camping here and we have normally just enjoyed day fishing/kayaking/paddleboarding. We were located in a beautiful waterfront location with full hookups, tent pitched as well and had plenty of room to enjoy the area. In the RV area we had our choice of 4 docks to fish from catching our largest trout of the weekend from the docks (shore fishing was good too). Billy was extremely helpful getting us in our spot, helping us level the trailer and Kyle helped with our rental boat getting us off and into the lake for maximum time. This has become our go to spot to get away for great swimming, kayaking, fishing and overall enjoyable time. Their store has everything you could possibly want and their prices are so far below other resorts and even some stores in town. read more

Spent the weekend here camping and had a great site right on the water. The store has everything you could possibly need and then some! Staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us. Billy even helped back my travel trailer in since I was newer at it and didn't feel very confident in my skills. He stayed and helped us level the trailer and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We spent time fishing, kayaking, swimming and had a wonderful time. First and foremost if I could give it a big fat zero I would !! The story goes 9 of us went to Winona Beach Resort to enjoy the day and do some swimming and picnicking. We were there two to three hours have fun listening to music at a reasonable level and the manager (lanky/skinny white guy) came up to us and very aggressively told us to turn off the music ? We asked why and he said "because I said so" and that our music was upsetting other people. So we ask everyone all around us which we're about 20 people and they all said no it wasn't bothering them, and a lot said they couldn't even heard the music ?? He came back and said if we didn't like it for us to leave. After reading and signing a lengthy admittance agreement it had no where in it that said you couldn't listen to music. Plain and simple this guy was just being a BULLY and is not qualified to be a manager. This same guy last year when I went to fish off the dock tried the same tactics so I thought maybe the new owner had wised up and got rid of this fool but guess not?? All I not is the 9 of us won't ever go back to this place. Oh and he had a little helper that was just a big of jerk off as he was, so beware if you intend to go there for any Recreational activities. read more

So this place its what it is, packed in like sardines. You know that upfront though, just google map it. We had a event at this location so we were there for that. We do not like going anywhere that you are packed in so close you literally can pass objects between windows of the RVs next to you. Again, we overlooked it for this event. Once we got there to check in and pay for our 2nd night, that is when they said they have a $5.00 per dog per night fee! Did they mention it at all when I payed for my 1st night there over the phone and told them we have dogs? NOPE! We would have never gone there in the first place had we known. What do you get for the fee? Not even a dog walking area. Wow. Sure was happy to pay a fee for my dogs to sleep in my RV. Thank you for that. While the waterfront is nice (besides being so close to each other you could hear someone fart in the RV next to you) the sewer hookup is a joke. You better bring a good 40 feet of sewer hose to make the connection clear up at the access road. I am sure it had to be that way because how close the sites are to the water but for crying out loud...let guests know when they call to make a reservation. The work crew that goes around and checks trash are fantastic. Really helpful and nice people. It was great to see that. The lake is really nice and has good fishing. The docks and beach are pretty nice as well, nothing to complain about for that. That is where the 1 star rating really shows up. Now I know, the people who run the place will not really care about the reviews. They have people lined up to stay there. No one is forcing anyone to stay there, it is your choice. Just be advised of "extras" they impose on you once you get there. read more

Family and friends camp out over this weekend. At first I was a little bummed down to see to many Rvs right next to each other. However it was a great experience camping at Winona Beach with Rv and tents. Public restrooms where's always kept clean. Kids play ground, Basketball area, picnic area some big giant floats where great for my kids to enjoy over the weekend. Bill was always very attentive to provide us with special requests from us like to charge the battery of the boat because we had some issues and send help in middle of the lake due to boat not turning on . After all it ended to be a great weekend for adults and kids. Definitely would recommend Winona Beach Resort. read more

There were a couple pleasant employees, but the owner 'Billy' was completely out of line. Price was outrageous for what you get. The site I was assigned was just 5' wider than my camper and had only 5' behind before 2 large trees were in the way. The picnic table was between the trees and the firepit was underneath it. The hookups for the even number spaces are on the opposite side of the camper-meaning you have to go under the camper to hook up. The Sewer hookups were not only on the opposite side from the camper drain, but also uphill. These sites are listed as 'full hook up.' At $47. a night you would expect better. We listened to Billy berate a multi-racial group who had rented one of his pontoon boats to fish and celebrate a young girls birthday. One man attempted to talk and explain, but Billy just raised his voice and continued his tirade. When 10pm rolled around- the designated quiet time- my friends were told they had to quit playing the guitar in front of their campsite. Their neighbors said they didn't mind and were enjoying the soothing music. The family next to me had several guests over and stayed outside talking and with a radio on until after midnight. Because of the close proximity of our trailers (their awning was within 3" of my camper). They were sitting right outside my bedroom window. I asked politely twice if they would quiet down, that was not well received. I called the office twice. The first time I was told that Billy was making his rounds and would take care of it. He didn't even slow down as he went past in his golf cart. When I called again after 11pm I got Billy on the phone- he yelled at me, assured me that there was no noise and said he would 'step out on his deck' to see if he heard it. The next day we saw my neighbors hanging out and partying at another RV that appeared to be full-time or seasonal renters. I am guessing that my neighbors are regulars and their business was more important to Billy. I did ask to be able to cancel my last night and be refunded. He flat out refused to do a refund. He did offer to change my site to one on the upper level. If I was going disconnect, batten everything down and hook up to move. I felt I may as just well leave. I tried one more time to reason with Billy and was told I was kicked out of his resort for life, "because that's how this Cowboy rolls." is how he put it. ***As we are in the throws of COVID-19 and many of us are looking for a place to escape and relax, this seemed to be an option. There were no warning/caution/reminder signs, the bathrooms and playground was open with no sign of any regular maintenance for sanitation. The few friends I was with are very careful about social distancing, however we seemed to be the only ones taking any precautions. *** The story could go on and on about how irrational the owner is. I will just leave it at- if you are looking for a quiet lake resort, this is not the place. There are much better run resorts for the money. read more

I have been here a couple times and had enjoyed it. However this last time my children were bullied by the kids that stay there regularly. When my husband stepped in and asked the kid to stop.after about three times of being told that kid wasnt stopping he tried to find the parents it didn't go well. The parents were worse then the bully and the owner Billy took their side.He called my husband white trash and told us to never come back. Didnt even care that my children were the victims. I will not put up with bullying. This is not ok. I guess you will only be treated well here if you have a trailer here. The bullying needs to stop!!! read more

I'm only giving it two stars because if you go there just for the day to fish it is amazing. However staying there is terrible. I rented a cabin for $100/night for my birthday weekend. When we arrived the cabin was very small, the floors were uneven, and the ac didn't work. Also upon arrival the cabin hadn't been cleaned. It was still very messy from the previous guests. I was embarrassed to have my friends come stay. They really nickel and dime you for everything. One of our friends owns a cabin on the same lake and just wanted to come say hi. The guy at the front desk wouldn't tell him where our cabin was and said it costs $5 just to say hi . It's a beautiful place but there is a resort not far from this one with way better prices. I won't ever stay again or recommend this place to anyone. read more

Really poor management of business practices. Booked memorial day weekend, and due to circumstances had to change reservation from 3 nights to 1. Contacted them 5 days before our reservation and was told our deposit was already taken and there was a 3 night minimum for the holiday. We were not informed of this on making reservations nor does the website state that or even post pictures of the cabins! She mentioned that there are alot of people who would like the reservation, but because they took our deposit, but she did have high hopes that I would be able to find someone to take our reservation and would not let me cancel 5 days in advance...after acknowledging that they would have no problem renting it out. Rv sites are ridiculously small. Our neighbors were less than a foot from us with the slide-outs, making it extremely noisy all day and night and tight to get in and out of the space. Lake is beautiful but the resort is packed tight and not peaceful at all due to loud neighbors and no privacy. read more

This last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The year around RV people we were put next to were rude, lying, telling the owners we were lighting off fireworks in camp. Then brandishing a gun in my camp site when my dog got of the leash because their dog came after my 2 yr old. We told some of the service people and received very little help or empathy, actually being told they prefer we didnt come back, only one man talked to my family member and told her that he didnt want that. In the end both parties were kicked out. But only one out of all of the employees seemed to even care, the rest were buddy buddy with the yearlies and acted as if we were just liars. All in all a beautiful resort but won't be going back due to the 3 RVs of yearly people that were rude and thought none of the rules applied to them. read more

My family has been coming here for more than 20 years! The new owners are amazing!! Very accommodating and pleasant! They truly went out of their way to make our week memorable. Great fishing, paddleboarding and providing personal fire pits in the evening for a nominal fee. Vick was awesome! The swimming area has improved greatly! We loved the fiesty resort goose mascot, Wilma! I can't say enough about Winona Beach Resort. We were shocked at the huge improvements overall and will be back! read more

We had 3 campers and paid a lot of money to camp there. We had friends that were at a campground right down the road and they stopped by for a 30 minute visit and were charged $8 to park right at out campsite. The owner Billy was incredibly rude and sarcastic. And you may not be able to benefit from the full hookups because they are not in a good spot unless you have very long hoses. read more

Terrible place to patronize. My husband and I were seasonal for 2 years at this resort. We left before this years season began, and for good reason. July 4th we thought we would go visit our friends. Yes we have quite a few friends we would like to see at the resort, however we especially wanted to go to see our friends Grandson who is 16, whom was in a horrific car accident about 10 days ago. Drunk Driver hit him and his friends and all were hospitalized. The 2nd of July Gavin was released and on the 3rd him and his family went up to the resort to relax and for Gavin to recouporate and heal from his accident. We had a small gift for him and we were unable to give it to him even tho my husband and I are on tjses peoples visitors list. We were stopped at the front gate by the owner and were told to leave. I can't really type the actual words that Billy used. And he's the owner. It was extremely embarrassing how he was screaming obsentaties at my husband and I. I was so shocked by his actions & words that I just sat there and never said a word. He created quite the scene at his own resort. This is how a business man conducts himself in front of everyone who was outside and some who were inside and heard & popped out to see what all the noise was about. Apparently freedom of speech is something Billy John's doesn't understand. It was brought to our attention that the reason he would not let us come in to visit our friends is all based on my review of Wynona Beach Resort after my husband and i pulled out. He is mad that my 1st review of his resort was very derogatory and did not make him or his business look good in the eyes of the community. When as a business man take advantage of people and charge some people more than others it makes a person take notice. A lot of people took notice. We know for sure that he hiked up the electricity rates to certain patrons of the park and my husband and I were one of them. We were charged the 2nd highest amount for our electric bill. Hundreds of dollars. I spoke to Avista & Avista can tell you exactly what your bill would be based on the meter can and the bottom #. Whether it be a commercial rate or homeowners rate we were still completely over charged. That was one of the issues. Be wary of this place. You may be charged or over charged. If you were an upstanding, smart, honest business man I would have wrote a stellar review Billy. But what you did to my husband and I was just completely wrong. We work so hard for the things we have and you took advantage of us. You should be ashamed of yourself. Shame shame shame on you. You lost 2 really great seasonal guests who would of stayed for years. We are really loyal people. I will close with one last bit of information and that is based on all of Billy's upcharges. Because of all of his dishonest charges and how hurt we were, we decided to purchase our own property. Problem solved. We are gone. Waitts Lake is a beautiful lake. Winona Beach Resort is a nice RV park. They have showers and laundry facilities. Pets are welcome. We've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. read more

We are day users mainly, have been treated well....the only complaint I have so far is they allow folks to smoke and vape on the beach area where a lot of families with children are, parking is a nightmare...but the folks in the store are very nice. read more

We were there a few weeks ago and rented a boat for a 1/2 day. The boat had a 8lb anchor and we asked for an additional anchor and we were told no despite the fact there were 10 other boats sitting there and not rented. Since we were drifting with the one anchor, it made it virtually impossible to fish. So we tied up to our friends boat which was attached to a buoy and the '*itch with the whistle' came running out to the end of the dock blowing her whistle and yelling at us that was not permitted. Needless to say it was a horrible experience and we will rent from somewhere else next time and not spend another dime at that resort, I would encourage you to do the same. read more

The stars come from the fishing and the dock, and partly from the owners. I can see they are trying to make the place better and the such, that's where the 3rd star comes from. The managers/owners can as I can understand come off being a bit rough but who knows maybe that is just their nature or maybe they are being misinterpreted. I have read the previous reviews and would agree, they will nickel and dime you to death and will hunt you down immediately if you park and will ensure others will hear them telling you what for, I guess as a warning to others??? Anyways, the bottom line for fishing off the dock is to quote them "if it has a heartbeat, you pay the 5 dollars" so this will include infants, babies, dogs, fishing or not, you will have to pay the 5 dollars. So I paid my 5 and said nothing of it, I hope they enjoyed the 5 dollars for it will be the last they will receive from me. Sometimes it is just not worth it in the end, I would have returned about 5 more times with fishing friends and family and they would have made an additional 75, but because of that 5 dollars for my dog, they well got their 5 dollars. As business owners, specially a vacation lakeside resort, they would understand it is the repeat customer that keeps you afloat and successful during those lean times of the year. Don't go to this RV lake resort. The owner got into a verbal yelling match with me when after his representative said they would give my reservation deposit back he said he wasn't go too. When I told him I was going to let other friends, family and professional associates know what kind of place he runs. He wanted me to come back to the resort and what sounded like fight him over this. Very unprofessional and unethical. Just check other reviews and you'll see why this place is going under. read more
