Honestly, we were just checking the various seating options out, and the barman put the menus in front of me as I was getting a beer. Options abound for a meal, as available add-ons are shown as optional extras (with prices), so you can customise your order according to your appetite or budget. Most meals and burgers come with great beer battered chips - maybe the best we've had in Mudgee - and fresh salads or steamed veggies. None of the leftovers of offcuts served by lesser establishments. Don't be doubtful about the quality of food here; if something seems off or not as you expect, mention it to any of the staff there and I believe they'll be both concerned and eager to put it right for you. It's that kind of place.

The new color scheme blends in well with back part of the Hotel which has extensions upstairs and spread over a few dining areas. The food has come a long way as well, with a more fancy menu, not only in choice but also in variety and presentation. (If you ask for room 1 it has two connected rooms with a king bed in each!). So far as pub accommodation goes the rooms are huge and very quiet. Sure they're not the most modern but they have air con, a fridge and a kettle. There was also a TV but with no aerial connection it was as good as a door stop. It's also located smack in the middle of town so you can walk to anything you need. There's parking out the back near Woolies as well. The cleaners come in each day and just do a basic tidy - emptying your bin and replacing towels. But thats about it. If you want your bed made and things wiped down you're out of luck. The only downer for me is no wifi. But at $50 a night for an ensuite room and $30 for no ensuite its the best value place to stay in Mudgee. Plus what you save on accomm costs you can then spend on food and wine!
