If the answer is 'Yes!', then I think you'll have a good experience at this venue. Linked with the lobby of one of Mudgee's oldest motels, you might think of demand-based opening hours and cooking standards. However, it looks like they want to encourage non-guest diners, as they post specials and promotions on their own Facebook page. The tables are nicely set up, with linen napkins and tablecloths, and real wine glasses rather than the less serious stuff of standard motels. Sure, service may at times be more quaint than quality, but they get the job done if you're not pretentious. Ooh, but the steak is sublime! Our 2-4-1 specials on a (unbooked) dinner Wednesday evening were faultlessly done as ordered - Medium Rare - and so much better than we've had in quite awhile. Meat is the reason you come here, and this did not disappoint. Local wine was generously served by the glass. I think this establishment is worthy of your consideration.

From 7pm onwards There was a long line of 30 people or more all waiting to order a meal at the cashier. But the wait was worth it. The 350gm rump steaks looked magnificent and we took the option of cooking our own on the gas Bbq. It comes with chips and salad for $18 . This was a bargain. ( there was a monster 650gm T.bone for $30) . We also ordered a bottle of local Shiraz wine at $26 . There were young families dining here and a $8 two course kids meal I.e with icecream. A musician sang hits from the 1960s and 1970s in the lounge from 8pm. The big open fires gave a cosy atmoshere.This place was jumping !!!! I will definately return.

The steak was great no thanks to them. The only good thing was the girls behind the bar. Again this place had barflies that made you feel unwelcome and one even hit in my wife with me right there and surprise surprise wanted to fight. The bartender Lissa I believe her name was, was the only good thing about the place. She was smiling and gave us what we ordered.

Honestly, we were just checking the various seating options out, and the barman put the menus in front of me as I was getting a beer. Options abound for a meal, as available add-ons are shown as optional extras (with prices), so you can customise your order according to your appetite or budget. Most meals and burgers come with great beer battered chips - maybe the best we've had in Mudgee - and fresh salads or steamed veggies. None of the leftovers of offcuts served by lesser establishments. Don't be doubtful about the quality of food here; if something seems off or not as you expect, mention it to any of the staff there and I believe they'll be both concerned and eager to put it right for you. Our room…read morewas the runt of the litter but the setting was ideal, opening onto a courtyard, the upper part of which housed the restaurant. We enjoyed great quality food and local wines which we expected being within reach of Sydney and were not disappointed. The room was tastefully furnished and decorated and quiet. Breakfast was of the same vein (without the wine) and a great way to start the day under the portico looking down the court.
