I've been to other locations, including closed ones, of Winking Lizard. What I love about this little chain is that they are entirely consistent. It's great, hearty pub food. Their burgers are big and juicy, great portions. Lots of french fries. Their wings are exceptional and I typically go there for their wings exclusively. Their fried cheese wedges are what you'd expect, but that's not a bad thing. I'd stay away from their spinach artichoke dip. Not their strong suit. I love their cajun chicken wrap and buffalo chicken wrap. Definitely in my top 10. I guess my point here is that they have a very strong menu of basic pub food. And I think that's awesome. It's your "sturdy" go-to place when you don't know what you want to eat. read more

We tried the Cajun wings.- They were good, a little too wet on the sauce for me but the heat hits after a few seconds!! Garlic chicken spinach pizza was delicious. Love the dough/crust of the pizza. Also, the Cajun chicken wrap everything was great! Good service plenty of TVs!! read more

Stopped by while in town for a conference. This location is beneath a corporate building so it's a smaller sized restaurant. Cute though - some bar space and a decent amount of tables. It was very quiet during the lunch hour and service was very good. I ordered wings and some celery since I wasn't starving. The portion size on the boneless wings is small, which was great for me but might be an issue for others. Really good prices for a downtown spot and everything was flavorful. Pretty typical sports bar near a downtown area. Server was nice and attentive as was host who sat me (just me) at a six top . Although it was wings and personal pizza night, I went with the special menu put out for the month and ordered the turkey melt. For $12 how can you go wrong?! Sandwich was fine but lacked flavor. It came with a side of steak fries, which was good but they too needed seasoning. I asked for a side of ranch, which helped to a degree. Overall my experience at this Winking Lizard location was not a great one. The entrance to the place is a little hard to locate, I sat outside and observed multiple other patrons circle the outdoor seating looking for where to go. Once inside, the place was a little less than lively. Service was not a great experience initially, but once I was sat my server, Jennifer, was attentive and friendly. Their drink menu that pulls up from their QR code at the tables isn't an accurate presentation of what they have. They offer any dirty soda of "your choice," but had to get it with Sprite. Not the end of the world, but still not great. Food overall was decent. The Goldfinger wings were delightful, cooked well. The sauce was tangy. The burger left a lot to be desired. Not a ton of flavor. I got a slice of the cookies and crème pie to go, and that was good. Maybe it was just a slow night, but this location of the Winking Lizard can be skipped if you ask me. read more

I've been visiting Winking Lizard for many years. Since this new location opened, I've dined here more regulararly because of its proximity to my work. The location has a good amount of light coming in through the windows and it is attached to a large office building. Upon arrival, we've consistenly been seated immediately at lunch time. I usually request a wrap or a sandwich with soup. On a recent occasion, I went with the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich also included bacon and tomato. Not long after, the food was delivered. My grilled cheese sandwich was excellent. The soup was also very good. I made my lunch disappear quickly. So good! We came in for happy hour, sat at the bar and ordered a beer and wine. Service was very slow. By the time we could get the bar tenders attention to order a second drink happy hour ended...by one minute and we were not given the happy hour price. Not our fault...she just wasn't paying attention. We ordered food and, again, it took quite a long time to arrive. While we waited we listened to the bar tender cuss at and berate the servers she was working with. Not a positive representation of the restaurant. We ordered a Nashville Hot sandwich and pretzels. Who doesn't love walking into a bar smelling popcorn? Popcorn is probably my husbands favorite snack food- movie theater to be exact.. this had good flavor but was stale. We were seated quickly, and waitress came quickly to take our drink order and back to get food too. The mango margarita was delicious!! Fried pickles were outstanding, the breading was light but stayed stuck to it the whole time, the pickles themselves were excellent; best fried pickles since i don't know when. I ordered the cajun chicken wrap, no maters and no green peppers. The chicken had good flavor, with a hint of a kick of heat; description said it would be rolled up in a tortilla with Southwestern Ranch. Well, i'm glad the ranch didn't come inside the tortilla like I thought it did, but that also made the wrap itself dry and lacking some flavor or salt. The SW ranch tasted of dry spices, like it had just been made and not allowed to rehydrate the dry spices- so it was a miss for me. Husband ordered stupid hot wings and a salad, never got the salad; loved the stupid hot wings gave him a good sweat which he loves and washed it down with a cold beer. The fire in the hole wings were very spicy but also delicious. The fried pickles are some of the best we have had in a very very long time. The Mrs said the southwest ranch wasn't good and her Cajun wrap needed salt. Staff was friendly but not very attentive. There was free popcorn that was a little stale. Stopped in for dinner. Was able to get a seat at the bar. There are plenty of beer and whiskey options. They offer free popcorn at the door so make sure to grab a bag. There are plenty of TV's to watch games on. The menu is large with plenty of food options. The boneless wings were good and so were the fries. Winking Lizard is fine if you're looking for a cheap, casual spot with a wide selection of drinks, but beyond that, I wouldn't recommend it. Our recent visit was disappointing from start to finish. Firstly, the host tried to push us towards sitting at bar which we shouldn't taken as the first indicator that the servers were busy. We again stated we would prefer a table and she begrudgingly took us over. We then heard her tell the sever she was triple siting her. Again we should've taken more caution to this. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive. For a table of two, this kind of delay is unacceptable. They really need to reconsider seating so many tables at once if the kitchen can't keep up. Starting with the positives, the Buffalo chicken wrap was a small win. The chicken was juicy and not fried, which made it feel lighter and less greasy than other options. This was a refreshing change, and the wrap itself had decent flavor. Unfortunately, the fries that came with it were a complete letdown--soggy, limp, and utterly devoid of any seasoning or flavor. As a ranch enthusiast, I have to give credit where it's due: their ranch dressing was actually good, creamy with just the right amount of tang. But that's where the praise ends. We also ordered a set of 5 hot boneless wings and 5 boneless barbecue wings. The presentation was abysmal--think dried-up sauce clinging to soggy breading. It looked like the wings had been sitting out for ages before they made it to our table. Worse still, they were lukewarm. The house salad was perhaps the most decent part of the meal. We opted to change the cheese to mozzarella and added little corned beef bites, which surprisingly ended up being the highlight of the dish. Overall, the food was simply not worth the wait or the money. It's a cheap place, and it shows--you get what you pay for. While the extensive drink menu might lure you in, the lackluster food and slow service make it hard to justify a return visit. I'd only come back here out of sheer desperation. read more

I was staying in the area and rain was preventing us from venturing out very far, so decided to just pop into the Winking Lizard to grab some lunch. I got a burger and fries. The burger was cooked as requested, but completely unseasoned. I flipped it over and added a bit of salt, and that did the trick. The toppings were fresh and it was a pretty tasty burger. I really enjoyed the fries. The service, however, was lousy. Even the food runner, when she dropped off the food, never looked at me and when I thanked her, she just turned and walked away. It wasn't busy, people weren't hustling to keep up, it was just rude. The prices are good and they have a nice outdoor area if the weather is nice, but all these reviews about the service sure rang true for me. Next time I am in Cleveland, I will just make sure to pack an umbrella. read more

Was staying at a hotel close by and thought I'd try it out. Some people talked about good the winking lizaed was so I decided to try it. It wasn't spectacular or too horribly bad but the service was extremely slow. It lacks customer service big time. My waitress seemed to have disappeared as someone else brought my salad out and maybe halfway done....my waitress reappeared asking how everything was. I said it was okay and she walked away. Definitely not very friendly. My suggestion if you ever order their salad - get dressing on the side. It was drenched in ceasar dressing. The chicken was grilled pretty good! My cup also was dirty and looked like someone's ditty finger print from probably touching a saucy food. Barf. Then I kind of just sat around waiting for the check. I tipped a little more than 15% but felt like tipping nothing. Now if service was phenomenal I would tip 20% or a little more. If I ever find myself in Cleveland again. I would not come back. We were in town to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and decided to grab some lunch at this place beforehand. It was a very popular lunch spot with a lot of both indoor and outdoor diners. We opted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day. The menu offers a lot of options, including appetizers, salads, wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, soups, and entrees. I opted for the Cajun chicken spinach salad with ranch dressing. My husband ordered the Buffalo chicken salad. They both took about a half hour to come out. My salad was very good but was delivered with vinaigrette dressing instead of ranch dressing. The Buffalo chicken salad was also good. Me and my partner were staying at the hotel right next to here so it's pretty convenient place to go. Though I was a little hesitant at first given the lower rating on yelp. It was a very busy night for them so we were put on a wait but the amount of time we had to wait was accurately told which is good. Once we were seated, it did take a while to get a server to come by our table, which made sense given how busy they were. Once they arrived, they were really kind and we went ahead and placed our entire order because we didn't wanna worry about the wait for food. We ended up getting a 10 piece buffalo wing , the western burger, and the special roast beef sandwich. The food came out in a decent time and they actually were able to space out our courses which we didn't expect. The hot wings were delicious. Can't go wrong with those. Also, the burger and sandwich were excellent, and the steak fries that came with it were amazing. Typically I would probably give it four stars given how slow the service was. But for how delicious the food was, and even more, so the price was extremely fair for what you get. We got all of this food and a soda for under 40 bucks, which I feel like it's so hard to do it nowadays. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back! read more

I got the Roasted garlic chicken pizza which was pretty tasty - the crust was nice and crispy and had good flavor from the garlic. I just picked up my online order from the downtown Cleveland location. I ordered a cajun chicken salad and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. To pay $14.00 and receive something of such low quality is disgusting. There was barely any chicken and what was in the saled, appeared to be leftover or day old. It definitely was not freshly made. It was very dry and hard with barely any seasoning. The so called bacon bits were not crumbled on the salad but rather rock hard bundles which at first glance I thought they had mistakenly put breaded chicken in my salad. They have lots of specials including a patron margarita for $6 They have a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails at very reasonable prices. My husband ordered a Guinness on draft and it came with a clover outlined on the foam top. For lunch he had the Cajun chicken spinach salad. It was a big salad and very fresh. He said it was great. I had the Southwest Veggie Wrap - it has black bean burger and is loaded with flavor. Comes with steak fries that were also delicious. The Winking Lizard has a wonderful location and a vast menu, and with a little more service enthusiasm this could be a wonderful place. We stopped by while visiting the local area, and this location is convenient both to the Hilton DoubleTree and to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame museum. We grabbed a couple of salads for lunch, and sat outside - they have a nice patio seating area with both covered and uncovered seating, as well as an inside dining area and what appears to be an active take out business. Food was good - standard bar / lunch food. Pricing is quite reasonable averaging less than $20 per person all in. Our server, Markus seemed less than enthusiastic to be working on the day of our visit, but I'm confident he'll find a new career soon. Overall, a fine opportunity to grab a quick lunch. read more

This was my first visit to the location at AECOM building after a few visits at the Galleria location prior to relocating here. My oldest son and I arrived a little after 12:00 on a Monday. We had approximately a 10 minute wait. When we were seated the service was poor. I had ordered a beer and was never asked about an additional one. My water was never refilled. My son never had his water refilled either. Waitress never asked how our sandwiches were. I had the pulled pork sandwich special. It was good but I think there were more onion straws than actual meat on my sandwich. My son got a burger and subbed out onion rings instead of steak fries. There was like a $3.00 upcharge for the onion rings. For as much as I have loved the Lizard in the past this location has a really generic feel to it and the service was horrible. My next visit to Cleveland I'll be looking at other options. read more
