I was referred to Dr. Wong from my dentist because of an abscess I had on my gum. My dentist suspected it might've been because of my root canal (an infection). Went to visit Dr. Wong for the first time where she took x-rays and gave me a breakdown of what to expect. She recommended I get a root canal re-treatment to fix the infection. Came by today to get the root canal re-treated and it was completely painless other than the numbing medicine injections. Her and her assistant are very professional, and kept me relaxed throughout the whole procedure. Dr. Wong even removed the little screw piece from my first root canal a long time ago and cleaned everything up and re-did the whole thing. Really happy with the service here, also very happy with her assistant as well. They do great work! read more

I was treated to the best root canal I have ever had with Dr. Navid Ghanbaran in Dr. Wongs office. It was absolutely painless and Dr. "G" (as they refer to him) kept the focus away from the procedure. He instilled maximum confidence in his capabilities. I felt totally at ease with him. VERY disappointed with this dental office. I had high hopes because of praises and recommendations so we were excited and set to see Dr. Wong. I've been in contact with them for my Dads procedure for about 2 months now and we have been rescheduled 3 times. The first time, they informed us ON the morning of the appointment that Dr. Wong would not be in, I took the day off work to go with my Dad for nothing, telling us in advance would have been appreciated. I continuously emphasized my concerns about my dads insurance ending because he's retiring and they falsely reassured me that everything will be done in time. We even had to arrange to extend my dads insurance just for this. We were rescheduled and this time Lisa said it would be a 2 hour appointment because it will be a consultation and treatment the same day, again false hope! When my parents stopped by to drop off paper work they were informed that we would have to be rescheduled, which again was inconvenient because I had already originally taken the day off for the original rescheduled consult and treatment day. We were rescheduled to see her associate today Dr. Ghanbaran, Cheryl called this morning to confirm we are coming in today. We had everything in order I always asked what we needed to have done, we got a new referral slip, we talked to his primary doctor, we got the antibiotic pre op, medical clearance, all the insurance info readied and yet again, nothing was done. We were told that this 2 hour appointment would include consult and treatment, but they denied him of his treatment and he took antibiotics for nothing!! Apparently now there are no open dates for his procedure this month and his insurance is ending. This dental office had us running around in circles and in the end, left us in the cold with no solution or accommodation. I am very, very dissatisfied with the numerous miscommunication and missed opportunities to ensure that insurance was in order especially because I kept emphasizing the importance of time. Wasted 2 months of my time! I could have used my energy elsewhere and had it all done in that time. read more

I had infection I went to Dr. Wong for consult, she gave me 3 therapy options, I choose 1 and make next appointment, front desk said the earliest is about one month later. Dr. Wong is so kind then provide me to do it immediately. Then my problem was solved quickly and no pain. She is also considerate to give me prescription just in case I may need. I was referred here by my regular dentist for a difficult root canal. I'm not very comfortable with any dentist. They made my experience here as comfortable as possible. They took multiple x-rays and reviewed them with me and talked to me about options. The root canal went very well, they took their time to do a great job. I had no swelling and no pain the next day. I took them up on the offer of vicadin just in case. If you need dental work done, they will make your experience as comfortable as possible. read more

Dr. Wong came into the exam room, very soft-spoken, which helped my nervousness. Performed a few tests, explained my x-rays, and delivered the best news ever, I didn't need a root canal. I appreciated his honesty, not every dentist would have done that, especially when everyone is still trying to recover financially from the pandemic. I am a fellow dentist and had my root canal completed by Dr. Wong. (I live out of state and was referred to her by my mom.) As a dentist, I am very picky. I want someone who is careful, conscientious, and detail-oriented. Root canals in general can be very difficult -- and my tooth was definitely a *huge* challenge. She very carefully completed my root canal and did an excellent job. I would have no problem referring any of my family members to her with the highest of recommendations. Too often I see reviews of clinicians based on customer service or perceived chairside manner. To me, a doctor's clinical skill and quality of character matter most to me. She excels in both. What I can say about Dr Wong is that she truly cares about what she is doing, takes the time to do an excellent job, is highly skilled. read more

I went to Dr. Wong's office for checking tooth pain. And she suggested to do the root canal on the tooth. I suspect her judgement and went to see another doctor to get second opinion, another doctor said I only need to do refilling and after the treatment of refilling, I feel very comfortable. In my opinion, Dr. Wong just try to get the maximal profit with no necessary treatment. Not recommend her. read more

GOOD DENTIST, BUSINESS CHEAT!! Subject line says it all. She has and WILL go after your credit rating. Unfortunately, Ms. Wong's assistant glibbly promised me that there was no co-payment AFTER calling / checking with my insurance, Delta Dental. I asked again about payment after the initial eval, again no problem, so I was fine signing their financial assurance document, since it had zero co-pay, right? Wrong, what was found out post-treatment was that my dental insurance DID cover at 100 %, but only up to $1150 or thereabouts. So, she charges over $320 MORE than Usual, customary, and reasonable?! WATCH OUT!! Ms. Wong you are like a bad mechanic who charges you extra , finding things that weren't there before. The bottom line flaw is in the law... while you sign for paying for all charges, their is no detailed summary of charges ahead of time, like in an Auto repair quote, which is regulated by the state. BUT REALLY, do we need our medical professionals monitored as closely as sleazy auto mechanics? ( there r good, honest ones, too) I guess so. My guess is, the dental assistant made a single phone call, heard "100% covered" and neglected to check further-- so she covered it over and made it my problem, with the $320 extra charge. My review is not based on Dr. Wong, but on her staff. I was scheduled to have a root canal operation with Dr. Wong. Her staff contacted me a few hours before the trip and told me that this single operation on my molar will cost totally $1,600 and it will drain my dental benefits. When I was concerned with that I will have no money for the crown needed for the tooth, that senior staff was impatient. I called my own dental office to clarify a few unclear details. When I call back to Dr. Wong's office for the last time and told her that I will call her right way to tell her whether I will continue the appointment or not, this senior staff told me that she would cancel my appointment anyway and let me call back to schedule new appointment. What makes me give 1-star review is what she told me over the phone when she refused me to discuss with my wife and get back to her: "I don't want to waste Dr. Wong's time so if you want to come you need to call and schedule new appointment. " Actually they asked me if I can come to their office a few hours earlier than scheduled time over phone. When we put this with that lady's comments, it tells me one thing: "Their time is money. Your time worth nothing. " Bye bye arrogant lady. There are more than one thousand dentists in east bay and I believe I don't have to deal with you. read more

I was referred to Dr. Wong by my regular dentist who couldn't do the root canal I needed. The root canal itself isn't my issue with this dentist office. Payment was required upfront, but since my HSA had sent a new debit card for me and I didn't have it, they said they could wait for my payment until the next visit, which would be the following week - for this I was very grateful. The following week my root canal was finished and my bill paid. I left the office thinking everything was fine and dandy - and at that point they would have rated 5 stars. For some unknown reason I received a bill for $75. I had paid before the root canal was completed, I'd left the office and no one said anything about ANOTHER $75. I was quoted for the root canal upfront and then after the fact they want another $75 - I think not. $350 or so for my 20% seems excessive and it wasn't discussed with me. Needless to say - Dr. Wong's office turned me over to collections. I'm now being hounded by "an attorney's" office and they want $119. I shall fight this one since I paid up front and still have my receipt. Just a note - my dentist needs to refer me out again for a bad root canal done by someone else that they can't fix and I've told them I absolutely won't go to Dr. Wong - I'll lose the tooth first. read more

Called as an emergency referral! In Massive pain they would only recommend an appointment 10 days out with Dr Wong. If your too busy you should let your referring doctors know, you dont need anymore business. Inital call, staff stated two emergencies that day. So I called the next day at 9 am, no call back until 11 am, and the staff got irritated and stated still no emergency appointments today. Dr Wong if this is not how you run your business, I suggest some retraining of your staff how to handle your business. This left me untreated for several days before I found another referral who would see me, by that time my face fully swollen and infected. Thanks a lot ! I also suggested to my dentist they should rethink their endo referrals. read more

O.k. let me start by saying that I have the biggest fear of the dentist. I knew something was up and sure enough had to get a root canal. Winnie Wong was referred. I went in for my consultation and the staff was very friendly and I could not have asked for more. I explained my fear of dentist. They understood and took their time with me and went over all procedure. Went home and felt very comfortable. They called me back and told me that They were not in my medical net work and it would cost me $. I was truly let down. The receptionist Margret said to find someone in my network and she could tell me how they were. In my Anthem Blue Cross I could not find a dentist that I could understand. My husband said we will just pay the amount that the ins would not pay. I called back made my appointment. I have been freaked out knowing that I had to have work done. Margret called to confirm and made me feel comfortable. Dr Wong was VERY Patience with me. Cheryl her assistant was amazing. They went at my pace. The office is very clean.. Again I can not say anything bad! Everything went very well. I would highly recommend Dr Wong to anyone who needs a gentle dentist and an amazing staff. I too, received issues with this office. I was referred by my regular dentist for a bad root canal at a previous dentist. This company treated me and scheduled me for a follow up, but now I don't feel comfortable going back for it. They quoted me over $1300 to clear out a bad root canal and repack it with a temporary filling. After informing them that I would need to pay for childcare expenses and rent before I can schedule the procedure, they insisted that I can have the procedure anyway and said they would allow me to make 2 equal installments of the total amount. They said I can make each payment at the end of the current and following months. This would have worked out perfectly - I had the means to do so and had every intention to pay at the end of each of the months. Instead of the first payment being cashed on the end of the first month, they cashed my check 2 weeks earlier than they had agreed to. This resulted in the company removing the funds that were intended for my childcare and rent. And since the childcare checks were already being processed and my rent was being electronically processed, they resulted into multiple overdrafts and the bank declined my other withdraws. I had to pay late fees on everything that was declined or had bounced, including bounced check fees (none of this was reimbursed). It took me over a month to resituate myself and reach a positive balance. I called their office and told them of the issue, at the time it had occurred. My contract was extremely vague, to the point of bias interpretation. I spoke to a few different people, including the woman whom I had originally made the arrangement with and the doctor who performed the procedure. They passed the blame around, within their company, with no solution offered, no refunds and no remorse given. They made me feel as though I was having a personal issue and they were not at fault. Regardless, I keep my word and I let them know of the soonest I could have the remaining installment. They agreed to let me pay the remaining balance by the end of the third month. I don't know why I thought they would keep their word a second time, since they did not the first time. By the end of the third month and before I could pay the remaining balance, I had already received a collections notice, saying that I had been avoiding payment. At this point, I'm not sure what I can do. Their lack of organization and negative impacts on customers' lives were in no way acknowledged. Too this day, they have not tried to make amends. read more
