My hubby and I recently moved to Grandview and I needed to get my car inspected to get all the…read morepaperwork required for MO title transfer from another state (suuuuper fun). We looked around on Google and Yelp for reviews of nearby auto shops and it seems this one has been highly recommended in reviews as trustworthy and has been around for a while. When I got there having not looked at pictures or anything, I was a bit confused. You cross the railroad tracks and there's a storage place and a white house with a chain link fence, surrounded by cars. If you pull around further there's a big blue garage with multiple doors, and a smaller entry door to the left. That's where you go in, and Don's office is to the left. I wasn't confident so I called and Steve answered. He was nice enough to come out and ensure I was in the right spot embarrassing but they treated me well regardless. Let me tell you, as a woman coming to auto shops I'm always prepared for being treated as though I don't know anything.... Definitely didn't get that vibe here at all. Everyone was super respectful and friendly. They got my car on a lift once I arrived and I meandered around the shop to stay out of the way. Even hearing how they talked with each other, there was joking around but mostly just shop talk and helping each other out. Didn't hear one cuss word either. Eventually Pat came around joking about what if they failed me on the inspection and we got to talking about a decal on my car (D&D related) with Steve. They're all nice guys and made me feel right at home. This place reminds me a lot of my grandpa's garage, just honest people doing honest service. At the end, Don told me my breaks will need some work but since it's around the holidays he assured me they should last til January. I shook his (and his mechanics) hands and thanked each of them. Needless to say, I will be back!

Prymo Automotive Service - No charge = no go

Battery: dead Schedule: busy…read moreAvailability to take car to dealer: no Mobile service needed: yes Prymo did a fairly primo job for me. My car, like many cars that are on the market today, has tons of bells and whistles, so adding a battery means doing a reset and reprogram. Guess what? I don't have the tools or the knowledge on how to do that. Could I change a battery many years ago? Absolutely! Could I change a battery now? No way... That's why I needed someone with the tools, the know-how, and the availability. I put in a request via Yelp to get a project started, and Prymo was the first to respond and had availability the next morning. They sent a tech to my house, he quickly diagnosed that the battery had no charge left, even though I had a jump the day before, and he commenced replacement. I didn't have to do anything other than do what I usually do, which is work from home. Fast-forward a half-hour and the job was done. I had a new battery, the tech had reprogrammed everything to its proper state, and he was on his way. Prymo accepts debit and credit, though a credit card purchase will come with a 3% charge, which is very fair since that's what the banks stick to the business. It wasn't cheap, but most of the cost was in the actual battery itself, which came with a five-year warranty. Great response, simple to navigate and schedule, and the tech was professional and skilled. Great experience and highly recommend if you're in the same situation.

When I said that's to much he said that he could flush the radiator for $200 but that it might not work. He made it sound like it was likely to not work. I ended up taking my car for a second opinion to Winfrey's which is near by and they flushed the heater core for $130 and my heat works awesome now! She needed a camshaft position sensor replacement. We called a week prior for an estimate on the total job. We were fine with the quote & scheduled the repair. Today, when we went to p/u the car, the bill was more than double the quoted price. When I questioned it, the young lady behind the front desk did some investigating & found the original handwritten quote & said that it appeared that "someone" had quoted us for the wrong part. I said that we'd referred my mom there for this repair based on the quote given over the phone. Being that my mom is a senior citizen & on disability, I felt terrible that she was unprepared for the newly stated cost. I asked if there was anything that could be done to help us out since the mistake was on their part. The mechanic (James), came in holding the original quote & the new bill. He said that it was impossible that the job could be the price I was saying I was quoted. He repeatedly implied that I was making a mistake or misheard. He implied that it could have been bc I hadn't given the VIN # of her car when I called for the quote. I said that I was never asked for that... only the make, model & year. James' attitude continued to escalate & along with making snarky comments & throwing his pen down on the counter, he then walked out of the room while my mom was in mid-sentence explaining that we weren't trying to be difficult. We both stayed calm & tried to be professional. James was pretty rude & disrespectful. At the end, in front of another customer & my mom & I, he told the girl at the front desk to "make a note on our card that we're fired" from being customers there. Not only would we never return there, but we would never refer anyone there again. We've had several conversations & business transactions there & have never had an experience like this. At this point, it's not about the mistake made with the quote. The girl at the front desk is new & mistakes happen. It's about the irrational way that James handled this situation. He behaved as though we had done something wrong & then "fired" us? Very insulting. He acted as though we had no history of a good business relationship & instead of accepting that a mistake could have been made by his shop (which the girl had already acknowledged prior to him coming in), he blamed & mistreated a repeat customer who had never had any issues prior to this. Bad business. Be ware...
