During my teens years in Malaysia, there was a popular Lookout cum lovers spot on a hill called Gasing Hill. To kill time, my friends and I would take our torch lights and tap on self appointed car windows and shout, ' Hi, is my brother in there?' or ' Hide, I just saw your father around the corner!' Ah, it brings back such fond memories.
Whenever I drive to Windy Point in Belair, I relieve those moments. No, I do not tap on people's windows nor have I lost my marbles. I just smile knowing what fun and havoc I used to cause back then..I still do...NOT!
So, I bring my kids here often as the view is spectacular at night. Like flickering candles settling in a field of midnight charcoal, it is truly a peaceful sight to behold. With a panoramic view of Adelaide Plains, you can even spot the lights at Port Adelaide..well if you look closely.
Come here during the day, and set your eyes on the blue seas, greenery and note the hustle and bustle of traffic beneath you. There are a couple of benches or pick a spot on the stone walls and wave at cars snaking up and down the curvy roads. Take the steps going up to the nearby Windy Point Restaurant and Cafe and you can catch a better view of the overall landscape and area.
Perfect for the family, ideal for a quick lunch stop before you make your way into the hills, plus it cost nothing. Alternatively, bring a torch light and do ya thing! read more
