Clean, quiet, & modern. A pleasant and comfortable place to read/study. Open to all but you need a library card to check out books. Cafe downstairs for coffee. Hardly any kid's books. Read parking signs. Some areas are marked for permit parking.

Probably the best library on the island. The place is absolutely beautiful and there's so much seating and computers available. The style is very hip/trendy and modern. This library is new. There are I believe like three stories. There's sunlight so that's nice to have. Shelves and shelves of books but might not beat sinclair or hamilton on that. The customer service is EXCELLENT and i mean EXCELLENT. The lady asked me what I was looking for and actually WALKED me to go and find it. When it came to check out, it literally took like maybe half a minute? And that's not even exaggerating.

Talk about a great place to study! The WCC library has gorgeous views, ample seating with ambient light, and lots of power outlets. There are 3 floors with varying noise levels. So when it's time to cram for an exam I hit the 3rd floor. On a more chill day I will head downstairs where talking is welcome. I appreciate that you are allowed to bring in drinks as long as they have a cover. The Hub is a coffee shop located in the building which adds convenience.

My friend's daughter played soccer at that park, and called it "Civic Field". The park isn't even on Google maps, but it has a small restroom that I'm afraid to use because of the homeless people that are hanging around. Anyway, some things are not under our control. I just want to warn library patrons about the environment. Yesterday, a guy was swearing - I think at the police next door - while a small group of characters loitered outside the park's restroom; and an "auntie" sat in the far corner of the new parking lot with her shopping wagon, covered with a blue tarp. During another visit, there were some bodies, covered in blankets and sleeping bags, lying on the landing between the stairs from the parking lot to the library. Instead of hopping over them, I walked up the steep driveway, not wanting to wake them up... It's kinda spooky and makes me not want to stay at the library for a long period of time, especially if the sun is going down... I just run in, pick up a DVD that I had reserved online, and leave as soon as possible. It's sad, but what can be done? It is a really nice area... The library has great facilities, free wi-fi, $1 movie rentals for a whole week, and other outstanding resources like Storytelling hour for the keiki. The librarians are so patient and helpful! The restroom is clean and functional, even though the building is old and could use a facelift. There's even a Friends of the Library bookstore at the parking lot level! HOURS OF OPERATION: Open 10 am - 5pm on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday; 10am - 8pm on Monday & Wednesday, 1pm - 5pm on Fridays Closed on Saturdays and State Holidays I will still continue to support our local library - just have to stay on alert mode! Mahalo!

The librarians are super helpful as well - my friend's baby girl fell and bumped her head, so the staff got her an ice pack (very sweet!). Haven't checked out the adult sections, so this is strictly for the kids section of the library - so much fun! Glad it's located above the base theater and restrooms. Easy to walk to and located right next to the large playground if you wanted to go there after some reading with the kids!

Unlike some other public library branches I've never experienced a lack of parking. Of course , the main branch due to it's midtown location has no public parking but that's what urbanization brings. The library itself has all the typical modern resources one would expect in this age if technology which enables patrons to gain equal access despite its location and physical facilities which although over 60 years old provides all the amenities of a state-wide library system. While other really newly built and upgraded branches have the luxury of large spaces, carpeting, spread out study areas, and "cool" ambience, Kalihi-Palama's staffing "quality": friendly, approachable, and willing to go the extra mile. This staffing "quality" extends to the custodial services, security, and part-time student helpers who restock the books. The donated book sales shelves are bright and well-organized and the same is true of the free magazine display. The new book selection is second to none and the online interlibrary book reservation option for new and current selections is available via the in-house computers and home digital instruments. Beyond books, one can borrow a ukulele, and get personal computer, smart phone tutorial assistance by appointment. What's not to like? One couldn't ask for more! I

Library services in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. Since I signed up for our local Summer Reading Program (June 1 to July 31, 2026), I thought that I should look for a good book or two to read. I think I used to visit Liliha Library with my mom and three sisters. I should ask them - because I'm sure that we went to the main library by 'Iolani Palace. I'm not sure about Liliha Library. Parking here is much better than at the main Library. Just drive up the ramp and park on the upper level for free, then walk down the stairs. There are a couple of ADA stalls on the ground floor, at the entrance. The interior has been nicely renovated. It's spacious, clean, and bright. I really liked the Chinese area and noticed that there are Chinese decorations on some of the signs - like the ones for the restrooms! Service was very helpful and efficient. I was asked if I needed help. I said that I was looking for the Hawaiian word of the week. It's part of the activities os the Summer Reading Program. The librarian pointed to a table and walked me over. Ooh... Besides the word of the week, there was a BINGO card for extra prizes and entries into the drawing for the trip on Alaska/Hawaiian Airlines! Yay! For sure, I'll be back for the next word of the week and maybe one of the free classes. One of the BINGO activities is to attend a program at the library, so... I'll return soon!

They had a ton of literature books at every single book and cranny of this store and it was substantial. I saw an old Aesop Fables book that I read when I was younger on the shelves as well - very nostalgic. I'm more of a manga girl so I didn't really see too much nooks that interested me - but if you're really into hardcore literature than this place is definitely it. They had so much books categorized and it felt a bit overwhelming - yet I liked it. I love the smell of books when you walk in, very comforting. I love physical books as well so shops like these are a gem. Had people manning the cashier but mostly just people browsing around enjoying the selection of books.
