As with all the other reviews, they are a horrible company that refuses to fix any internet problem. The internet worked fine until 2 months ago, when it just started randomly dropping. I have called at least 10 times, people have been completely unhelpful. The supervisors refuse to answer the phone when you escalate the call. You have to sit on the line for hours to get it. When you schedule service they send you at least 2 text messages which if you don't respond because you are working then they just unilaterally cancel the service request and you have to go through it again. This really does not deserve one star. I have had Windstream for decades and it has just gotten worse and worse. A few years ago had trouble with internet connection. It was off more than it was on and videos would buffer and not play. It would constantly go off and on especially in the evening.Several people came out and one guy even gave me a modem more outdated than the one I had which future service people could not understand why he did that. They were hardly ever to fix anything with their phone support. So after having gotten the new modem it lasted a couple years but their high speed internet is slow as molasses. My new tech guy won't even work with me till I get Spectrum because it takes a long time to install and download some things. So a few nights ago the police show up at my door at 2:45 AM. Why you might ask? They said that they got a 911 call from my windstream landline. WHAAAAAT? How did that happen? So next morning SAME thing happened about 9AM police are at my door that they got another 911 call. I called Windstream and the Rep Britney was extremely rude in her tone and when I told her it needed immediate repair because it is a drain on police resources she got even nastier telling me they would not come out for 4 days. She gave me agita by continuing to talk when I asked her to just be silent unless she had info from the supervisor. She was like nails on the chalkboard and of course there is nobody to call and complaint to about her. Very impersonal and they hide from complaints. When asked to talk to a supervisor apparently they send the info to a supervisor and the supervisor likewise did not feel a need to come out immediately. So I called the Public Utililties Commission of Ohio to file a complaint. Some phone numbers cannot be dialed on the phone. A few years ago when I reported this they did not even know how to explain it!! I am shocked they are still in business. As far as the phone calling 911 on its own, it seems that the neighbor had the same problem the week before. So I saw the technician out fixing her problem and then right after than I started to have a problem. I honestly feel the technicians per my exprerience create more problems. One time a few years ago after the guy left my caller ID did not work. He said the internet did not work good and he split the wire by the upstairs phone. When another guy came out after that HE had to undo what the first guy did. So the only way to send a message is to cancel them and go with Spectrum ASAP and teach them that bad, rude customer phone service and bad phone and internet service is not tolerated. Not to mention their disregard for police and the incovenience the Lousy Windstream service imposes on the manpower resources. read more

Wind stream has been a disappointing experience for a number of years. Downloads at less than 3 mb is a norm. Upload speed is .5 mb or less. Don't expect to work from home if you need the internet. Sometimes the service is out for days after a storm. If you call for service expect to wait a couple of days for a tech to show up. Additionally, their first solution to fix a problem is to sell you a router. I would not recommend this outfit to anyone. read more

Do not go into contract with this company. They took over Broadview and it has been downhill every since. I inquired about terminating my contract with them early and they told me it was cost us 3,800.00 to terminate. They are many other companies that are less expensive with much better service. I have been with Windstream for 4 years because they were the ONLY option available in the Twinsburg area. The service was slow at best. Spectrum became available in Twinsburg and offering faster service at a savings of $50 per month. I of course decided to make a much needed switch. My Windstream service cycle begins on the 4th of each month and end the 3rd of the following month. I canceled my Windstream Service on the 10th of December. I received a bill for the December 4th - January 3rd. This bill was increased form $105 to $130 for my usual Windstream Service. I called to inquire about my final bill and was informed they can increase pricing without notification and they do not prorate their bills and I will have to pay for a service I actually DO NOT HAVE!! I do not understand how they can legally charge me for a service that has already been disconnected. I intend to file a complaint with the Better Business Burea, the FTC, the FCC, as well as the Attorney General in Ohio and anyone else. I was informed by the service representative that they are only legally required to prorate in two states - I intend to lobby my Congressmen in Washington as well. read more

Not only was the service down for 4 days, I was on hold for over an hour and a half! AFter I finally got a person, they kept passing me to other people and no solid information. Finally was able to talk to a person who said they would call when the service was available. They never did. read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in twenty five years in business. The phone system keeps dropping calls, keep having to reboot system., phone dont work at all from time to time, never get the correct service, billing department is out of the country. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. read more

We moved to middlefield area about six months ago. We have tried to get a technician to come out to our house about six times to receive service. Windstream has failed to come to our property, and does not even have the decency to give us as much as a phone call. If there were any other options, I would not even consider them. They are suppose to come Tuesday. We will see. read more
