Is your kid getting ready for high school and is not sure where to go or where you should send…read morethem? I suggest taking a look at Paramus Catholic High School, home of the Paladins! I went to high school here 5 years ago and absolutely loved every minute of it! They have great teachers and is a great prep school for college! Teachers and staff and very helpful, nice and full of knowledge! No time is lost in the classrooms here, they are always planned out perfectly! To top it off, there is a unique and wide variety of classes a student may choose to take! Grant it, tuition is A LOT of money but its worth every penny! The campus in general is just beautiful and it keeps getting better and better over the years! They have tons of sports teams and clubs to join! Great place to meet people from all over! They also don't let just anybody in, they have an admission process which is higly competitive. Transportation is available by school bus, cars and even the NJ transit bus goes right by the school as well! It won't hurt you to take a look at the school, they have tons of open houses and they also let you visit the school for the day as well if you are in 8th grade!

Too much focus is put on discipline & not enough on individualized learning. Also, for the cost of tuition, the school has limited resources. Yes, it's a private school, but in my opinion, public school has so much more to offer, including a more open-minded, well rounded, realistic view of the world. Honestly, every school has its problems. I don't care if it's in the wealthiest town in Bergen County. Save your money. It all comes down to how you raise your children.

My School is closing!!…read morehttp://www.northjersey.com/education/educationnews/Hackensack_Catholic_school_to_close.html Hackensack Catholic school to close Wednesday, February 18, 2009 BY JOHN CHADWICK NorthJersey.com STAFF WRITERS A Catholic elementary school in Hackensack will close in June because of declining enrollment, the Newark Archdiocese said today. Holy Trinity School, on Maple Avenue, has experienced about a 24 percent decline in students since 2000 and currently has an enrollment of 183, said Jim Goodness, a spokesman for the archdiocese. Church officials plan to merge Holy Trinity with St. Francis School, a parish school on South Main Street that also has suffered enrollment loss and is down to about 118 students. The archdiocese decided that St. Francis School would be the one to stay open because it has received extensive renovations in recent years. The school is under a flight path for Teterboro Airport and received government grants for soundproofing, Goodness said. "To try and level off the costs of providing education and stabilizing enrollment, which has fallen at both schools, the natural solution is that the parishes should combine their schools into one," Goodness said, adding that such issues as transportation and staffing were still being worked out. Holy Trinity is the sixth parish school that the archdiocese plans to close this year and the only one in Bergen County. The other schools are in Hudson, Essex and Union counties. Goodness said that schools with declining enrollments typically turn to the parish for financial assistance. But with parishes also struggling with changing demographics and increased costs, their ability to support schools is limited. "It is reaching the point in some parishes where they cannot support the school in the way they might have in the past," Goodness said. The pastor at Holy Trinity said the parish was contributing about $150,000 to $200,000 to the school, but the enrollment was still falling. The tuition is about $3,200 a year for parish families. **************************** How could I *not* give my Elementary school five stars? (Especially if it's Religious!) No, seriously. All kidding aside, this was a Catholic K-8 school, complete with boys and girls in plaid uniforms, nuns in habits, and daily assembly outside in the parking lot (YES, even in the SNOW) to 'line up' and take attendance. Though I was never baptised and never raised Catholic, I thought this was a great place. The teachers and sisters at this place ran a TIGHT ship. You wouldn't ever THINK of smack talking, much less bring stuff to school that didn't belong. The fear of the cruxifix at the front of each classroom was enough to set you straight, regardless of your religion. Looking back, for a faculty of ALL women, these ladies knew what they were doing- they did NOT take crap from us kids! AND, I even learned a few things, science and math, and they even had art and music class. Gym in those uniforms was pretty uncomfortable, though I was only there from 3rd through 5th grade ... and THEN I went to public school in Southern California! Oh, the horror!

Students openly admit to gossiping with staff, and the culture among faculty is equally toxic--judgmental, unprofessional, and in some cases, outright inappropriate. One new teacher was even caught vaping marijuana during school hours. The administration turns a blind eye to serious concerns in favor of maintaining a false image of perfection. They refuse to address problematic behavior unless pressured to do so. Their so-called "Upstander Pledge' is meaningless--a performance that doesn't reflect the school's actual values. While they're obsessed with monitoring students on cameras, they ignore the root issues until forced to act. It is a shame because it started off as a great school environment, but over the years I feel as though it is no longer a safe or healthy environment for students as it once was. I can say all this based on personal experience and my personal opinion.

My son is academically gifted but has severe anxiety and low frustration tolerance. He is also a loyal friend, lots of fun and loves learning - but he can get frustrated in the classroom. The school offers zero emotional support. And please don't be fooled by their no-bullying slogan. My son was brutally bullied by some real nasty boys while several teachers stood by and watched. We found out from the man who drove him to school. My son was too sweet to know he was being picked on. When we brought it to the attention of the principle TWICE (and her side kick), they did nothing. I assume the other boy's parents had more money because it's all about the bottom line for this corporate owned school. The academics are strong But buyer beware and please protect your kids. (The social worker there is terrible too).
