This is a very small museum. However, on days when the rest of the building is not in use, there are free guided tours, which are well worth taking. You can see the room where Charles, Prince of Wales, married Camilla Parker-Bowles, and where Elton John formed one of the first Civil Partnerships in the UK. The museum itself has a range of rather mixed exhibits covering a range of completely different topics from ail mail to military life and none is covered in much depth. The town's association with the army features quite strongly but there is no story told here, it is a set of separate very small exhibitions on topics related to the area. There is a free audio system that I thought was rather good. You point a gadget at a receiver, to listen to additional audio content, some parts of which were better than others. One notice contains the punctuation error 1920's; they should know better than to use an apostrophe to designate a plural. Overall it was an enjoyable visit and didn't cost much. Try to go when the tour upstairs is on offer as a bonus. read more
