The man was very helpful and understanding that my 185 pound slobber machine monster dog was leaving slingers and hair all over. He even gave us a towel and health tips. Loved him! Helped us get a started kit to get everything we needed. Heat lamp, food and water tray, bedding and explained the different types of chickens. Very informative and great customer service. The cashier kinda sucked, he looked like he hated his job and was very dry. Seemed like he was being bothered when I would ask him a question. They have lots of things you would need for all of your barn needs. I did end up paying over a hundred bucks since it was my first time getting everything that I needed. Next time it wont be that much, I hope. Great place to visit and would recommend. If the cashier was more friendly and looked more approachable I would have gave this place 5 stars. If he hates his job maybe he should consider finding a new one.

He proceeded to tell me they were probably outside. I guess he couldn't be bothered with showing us where he meant. I went outside the front of the store and didn't see them. He said he would and went inside to check. I went in a few minutes later to find this guy helping someone else. Worst customer service.

What I like most about Western Ranch is the young people working there. They're always so friendly…read moreand knowledgeable. They really know the animals and care for them. The girls at the front know the kittens up for adoption very well. A young man recommended a particular rat when I was looking to purchase one as a pet. See a picture of Sniffy below! This rat really had a very sweet disposition. I didn't expect that young man to be so familiar with the animals when the many rats are likely destined to be snake food. I also had good luck finding medicine for kennel cough relief when Petco and Petsmart were out of stock. I didn't have as much luck looking for any outdoor dog kennels. They had a pretty limited selection due to external events. But the staff was very helpful. In terms of animals I've seen kittens, rats, mice, and chicks available. But it's not like 20 years ago when they had rabbits, budgies, and other small pets. I've heard from other dog owners they have events like photos with Santa and I've seen a long line for the mobile vet events. During the wildfires a year ago Western Ranch hosted a donation event. It may be a bit more expensive but it feels good to know I'm supporting a locally owned store that cares about its community.

Our experience with this store was remarkably poor. We were told one thing by an employee in…read moreperson, something different over the phone the following day, and then something different yet again when we arrived at the store -- including by the same employee we had previously spoken with. Had we been given accurate and consistent information from the outset, we would not have made the trip. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen. What distinguishes good customer service is how a business responds when they do. Here, the service was indifferent at best, and when we pointed out the contradictory information we had been given, the owner responded with hostility rather than any attempt to understand or address the problem. The most basic expectation a customer should have is that information provided by a business is reasonably accurate and consistent. Based on our experience, that is not an expectation I would have here. I would not recommend this store.
