I want to share my experience living in this apartment community, especially with the two female managers who are currently running the office. Since they came in, the entire atmosphere and level of service have changed for the better. Anything I've ever needed--whether it was a repair, clarification, or help with a concern--has been taken care of quickly and without me having to chase anyone down. Before they arrived, I often felt like I had to constantly remind the office about maintenance requests or follow up multiple times. Now, I simply put in a request and it gets handled. It's refreshing to deal with managers who are attentive, professional, and genuinely care about the residents. They communicate clearly, follow through on what they say, and make sure things are done the right way. They have truly gone above and beyond for me, and I feel the difference every day. From the way they greet residents to the way they handle issues big or small, they bring a level of respect, efficiency, and kindness that is rare to find. Because of them, I feel valued and heard as a resident. Overall, I can honestly say the management team has transformed the experience of living here, and I'm extremely grateful for everything they do. read more

I previous wrote a review last year. Since then, there has been changes both good and bad. I have lived at Windmill Creek North for a while and while it is true that there are pluses and minus of living here. That statement is true of anywhere that you live. I have lived in the East, City, up North and other locations in this area. I can truly say that I am happy with my accommodations. I hear of some of the negative statements from others and yet most are still here. The new management staff has been accommodating to the tenants as they address some old and some new issues. It still sometimes it takes longer because they are trying to help everybody and because of some changing dynamics. I have moved over a dozen times for work and career. I see no reason to do so again. Thank you, New Management, for all that you do for all of us. I enjoy the interaction and understanding from both Management and Staff. read more

I would not recommend any college students to apply here. I don't understand complexes whom takes security deposits on an apartment that you're not even approved on yet. The process was very much misleading. When I walked in the first thing that I stated was that I am a student with financial aid, and they wanted money before any of the processing began. The staff is unprofessional, I heard phone calls from other staff speaking to tenants and it was not a good impression. College students do not gamble with your financial aid here because they will tell you it's non refundable. I received my deposit back, but I do believe that I wouldn't have seen it if I wasn't persistent on leaving voicemails and calling up there. read more

I just received my deposit check back in the mail from living here for over a year and to be complete honest, it is an insult and a slap in the face. The deposit check is only for $113. In the letter attached, it claims that they detected urine on the carpets and that is why I'm not getting my full deposit back. There is absolutely no way my cats peed anywhere besides their litter box. How anyone can in live in an apartment with cat pee on the carpets is beyond my comprehension so this claim is ridiculous to me. (Also, I talked to a friend who knew someone who was told the same thing by a 1st Lake property...this person didn't even own a pet!! So obviously they do this on a regular basis.) There is a laundry list of things that went wrong while we were tenants of Windmill Creek. I decided to keep my mouth shut about most of these offenses as to not be "that tenant" or more bothersome to the staff. 1. We had the ceiling in our apartment leak not once or twice, but FOUR times. It first leaked two days before we were to move in. This was in the bedroom. there was then another rather large leak once again the bedroom a few months ago. This happened on the weekend and there was a considerable amount of damage to the ceiling. We had to throw out a few items of ours that were in the bedroom as well. It required us to move all of our furniture into the small dining room and live like that for about a week until it was fixed. The third leak was in the dining room near the fan. This leak was also creating water stains on the ceiling in the kitchen. Again, it took a couple days to fix this. A fourth leak was with our air conditioning unit. On a final visit from the maintenance staff, they had to cut slits into the wall to let water out. This was never repaired fully. 2. We first vacuumed about 2 days after moving into the apartment. Every time we vacuumed (about 1-2x a week) or every week or so, new weird stains were appearing in the carpet. We have no idea where these stains came from and they were definitely NOT cat urine. Again, to not be a pest, I didn't report this. I figured it was a usual occurrence on a cheap carpet in an apartment complex. 3. My one cat started to develop patches of fur loss while in the apartment. We just went to the vet and discovered that he has fleas. My indoor only cat NEVER had fleas before living in your apartment complex. We speculate that they were there due to the fact that the downstairs neighbors that moved out in our last few months were absolutely disgusting people that had multiple animals. Their apartment did smell like urine and we believe that after they moved out, all of the bugs began to show up in our (and I'm assuming other) apartments. This included the fleas as well as roaches. 4. There were multiple times that we had to deal with rude, inconsiderate neighbors. New Years Eve I got in a small verbal altercation with a neighbor who was illegally lighting fireworks above the pool (where our apartment was). There were also times when people would be jumping in the pool and playing loud music at 4am waking us up. I don't even believe that these people were residents in the complex. We were told that there would be security that would be randomly at the complex at night and I didn't see them once. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT rent here, especially if you have pets. They will take your deposit because they know you won't be able to prove your points. They know it isn't worth lawyers getting involved. You will lose out. read more

My husband and I have lived in Windmill Creek North for 3 years now. There's a lot of pros and cons about living in this complex. Pros the complex is minutes away from the interstate which brings you to the city. The complex is literally in the center of all three malls, a bunch of restaurants, and the bus line. The complex is beautiful and very well kept. The signature creek runs through the entire courtyard of the complex. The cons of the complex are, no assigned parking so we always seem to have to park in the south parking lot towards the back which is very inconvenient since our apartment is in the very front. Which leads me to my next con. The possibility of someone hitting your car. Because we have to park in the back parking lot when all of the spots in the front are taken up we have had not one but TWO hit and runs happen to both of our cars. There are no cameras in the back parking lot so there's was no way to find out who hit our car. Fortunately our insurance did handle it with no out of pocket cost to us but still it was an unnecessary hassle. Other than that, there's not much else to complain about. I think Windmill Creek is a great STARTER apartment. read more

My boyfriend and I have been living her since June 2015. The exterior landscaping is serene, peaceful and inviting. The staff is friendly and helpful. The apartment layouts are comfortable and spacious. Overall, Windmill Creek North is a great place to live. read more

This has been a great place to live! When first moving in, everything was super clean and repainted nicely. The staff has been super nice and we have had absolutely no problems so far. The Fountains and greenery give the apartment complex a homey feel. Definitely recommend it. read more

I've lived here for 6 years. The apartment is old and overpriced. They barge in and wake up your children screaming whenever they feel like it. I caught one employee taking pictures of the inside of my apartment with a cell phone for no reason. The manager is a loud, bossy, racist who has a twisted pleasure for going after white women. I get screamed at every time I walk out of my apartment, as if I am a criminal escaping my cell. Don't bother asking why you're personal privacy or rights as a human being to live in peace are constantly being violated, she talks over you and won't let you get a word in edgewise. She has no volume control either, her speaking voice is a bullhorn. She made my daughter cry by yelling at her. She woke up my infant who had an ear infection by barging in with no notice and for no apparent reason. I have to sneak my $1400 a month over to the south side office for fear of getting berated by the drill sergeant. Which is crazy... who is paying who here?? And paying WAY too much at that. She treats white people like second class citizens, and she thinks she can control and infringe on our most basic freedom as human beings. All of the staff are terrified of her, she treats them like dogs. Always screaming orders at them in front of everybody. Several bad maintenance issues, but cannot get anything resolved bc she does not let you speak, she screams over you the whole time you're talking and blaming you for whatever is going wrong with the apartment. Roof spills GALLONS of water every time it rains. Sewage backs up sporadically into apartment and out on the street. Black mold everywhere. They paint over bathroom porcelain rather than just clean or replace it between tenants. Every maintenance issue is always your fault, and if you bring anything to their attention they will find a way to charge you for it, and she will literally tell you that EVERYTHING is a "lease violation". She harasses, stalks, constantly threatens, and bullies the tenants and the staff, including children. She is petty, extremely unprofessional, vindictive, obnoxious, and on her best days- just unnecessarily rude. read more

This apartment complex is excellent! The staff are always professional and attentative to the needs of the occupants. The property is always kept nicely which is why i have been living at this property for over three years. I strongly recommend this property to anyone. read more

I lived in these apartments for almost two years and I've never had any problems. The maintenance is superb. The staff are attentive and ready to help, even on holidays! I think the last reviewer just had a bad experience, but thats what happens when you try to break the lease early I suppose. Also I've lived in both a two bedroom and a studio at windmill and compared to other apartments in the area they're both very good. read more

Please! The previous review must be from the staff. That's the worst apartment I've ever lived in. The apartments are really small and crappy! And the Manager is such a b.....! She says one thing today and another tomorrow and does't give you the correct info. I recently moved out and I told her I was moving out of state for work and I would have to break my lease. She said I would only have to pay the rent for the complete month and that was it. So I give her the check and a few weeks later she says I have to now pay the 2 weeks I'm staying in April. I told her I just payed her the complete rent for April and she says that's some other fees, which she never told me. I had a notepad when I first talked to her and wrote down everything she told me I had to pay, so it was impossible for me to be getting confused or missing anything. At the end she denied everything she first told me and I ended up paying around $1,000 for moving outta there. Even the leasing consultants think she's a crazy b....! read more

in the beginning there were issues that needed to be taken care of. over time I spoke with the management staff there and all my concerns were addressed. if there was something I could request is that they put a private gate on the side of building L for the residents to get to the back parking lot without having to walk around. read more
