I cannot disagree more. I have a child with Down Syndrome that is in this preschool. All of the…read morestaff have been extremely supportive, caring and more than accommodating. His "aid" as you said is most likely the same as I have and she is wonderful! I can not say enough about her. I also know of three other children that she has supported and their families all share the same feelings as I do. When the teachers and support workers try and encourage your children to do something they are not trying to get your child to "conform" to their ways but rather trying to push your child to be the best they can be. This can sometimes be a learning process for the child and can be difficult for them but none of the staff would ever, ever push your child so hard that they were upset the way you are saying. I have spent a lot of time in class watching and have never witnessed anything like this. When my son started he was not walking and could not feed himself and now he is starting to do both and I owe a lot of it to his support workers persistence and dedication to him. I am sorry that you had this experience but I feel that Discovery Playhouse is an excellent preschool and would recommend it to anyone. And remember for any child with special needs, there only limitations are those you put upon them.

I was very unhappy with this preschools inability to cope and help with a special needs child,…read moretheir attitude of trying to make them "normal" is unacceptable. They supplied an "aid" who was not willing to listen in regards to this child's needs. Also caused stress to this child in trying to make them do what the other children were doing when clearly this child had no understanding in what the other children were doing. Trying to fit a square peg in a round hole and stressing out this child. There is nothing wrong with being different, every one is different, but the lack of them actually trying to work with this child's specials needs was appalling and more important it was for them to try to make this child conform to their way. Special needs is special needs. If they could not help this child "play" and learn play how is it that they can help any child with special needs . I would not recommend this pre school for any child

Place was not very secure too, someone could have easily came into the premises and took all the toys away.

We've looked at about 14 centres at this point. In that pool, I would say there was 1 5 star, 3 4…read morestar, and the rest were 1-2. Needless to say, they all cost an arm and a leg. This is the 5 star. From the moment we walked in the door, we were hit with a sense of both home and calm. The environment was all about calm, neutral colors, child lead art, plants, animals, and natural materials like wood, branches, leaves, and pinecones. When we walked past the kitchen, it smelled like fresh baking (the children were cooking with one of the teachers). On the rug in the adjacent area, an instructor was leading a group of children in a yoga class. It was almost comically amazing. We were lead through to the main activity room and talked a bit about the philosophy of the centre, where we learned that they follow a 'emergent' curriculum, which is apparently about learning the children's interests and building the curriculum to suit. Naturally. Though I wasn't surprised, I was still very disappointed to learn there are more than 100 families ahead of us on the waitlist. Still, we may get in depending on the circumstances. Here's hoping!

The teachers were great and seem very fair with all the kids, no favouritism at all. They are a play-based preschool but in the end my daughter learnt her alphabet and how to write her name. My daughter is currently in her second year here and I will definitely put my son here as well. I think aside from the teachers the playground just outside the school is perfect for toddlers. My only gripe is that special outings tend not to be scheduled during the same time as school time so you will have to reschedule your day during these days although they are few and they give ample notice.

It's clear they genuinely love what they do, and it shows in how happy and engaged the kids are every day. The activities are thoughtfully planned and well-rounded, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and independence. My daughter especially loves the practical life skills--she comes home excited to show us how she can pour, sweep, and take care of her belongings. It's amazing to see her confidence grow through these everyday responsibilities. The materials and learning environment are excellent -- clean, inviting, and filled with enriching tools that support both play-based and structured learning. I've seen so much growth in my daughter since she started, both socially and developmentally. Highly recommend to any family looking for a warm, engaging, and supportive preschool!

From the moment we walked into her classroom, it was clear how much care and dedication she put into creating a nurturing and structured learning environment. Her classroom was always neat, organized, and filled with engaging educational materials, hands-on activities, and books that supported each child's development. There were many children Giuliano's age, and it was so comforting to see how happy and excited they were to be there each day. My son truly enjoyed going and developed a love for learning early on. Mrs. Athina took the time to guide him not only academically--with early arithmetic--but also with important life skills like sharing, independence, and responsibility. Through her support, Giuliano built confidence and strong foundational skills that I am still grateful for today. I am also so proud to see her daughter, Marisa Dritsas, continue this beautiful legacy. Her Montessori classroom is absolutely stunning--bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed with natural materials and child-sized learning spaces that encourage independence and exploration. The outdoor area is just as lovely, giving children space to play, learn, and connect with nature. Marisa is calm, patient, and genuinely caring. She goes above and beyond to support each child's individual needs and learning pace. The Montessori approach is truly reflected in her work--fostering independence, creativity, and confidence in every child. I highly recommend Kensington Montessori to any parent looking for a warm, supportive, and enriching environment for their child's early education.
