This is not a review of the whole store, but instead a review of the produce and meat/seafood departments. Winco is not our go-to shopping destination. But they do have produce and meat we can't seem to find elsewhere in the area. Specifically, for meat, beef heart and a couple of seafood items. For produce, a really great pepper selection (large poblanos, nice serranos) and most definitely fresh okra. We tend to want to buy organic, and Winco doesn't come close, so we are aware that a lot of this stuff is "dirty" - but once in a while when you want to make a particular dish, Winco fulfills the bill. read more

Winco began as a "no-frills, warehouse-style grocery store in 1967 in Boise, Idaho. Not sure what people expect from this description, but it is apt. For me, the prices are right, the patrons and the staff are human - like everywhere else. I'm looking forward to the new store to be built in Rexburg which will save us time and more money. read more

I would rather pay more somewhere else! Store old dirty stinky ( stinky may come from the people that frequent it). Everyone in the store failed hygiene 101. This isn't really a review about the store or management or anything like that. It's about the bakery department. I'm sure winco has just recipes but the past couple times I've gone to this location i have gotten there fresh bagels. It's like 6 in a bag for $2. These have got to be some of the the best store bought bagels I've had. It's a winco the food is intentionally cheaper than other stores. I haven't dealt with any rude management or employees in general. They are working most of the time. The only time I did is when I accidentally dropped some coffee beans on the ground and a lady came over and picked it up. read more

They have very few gluten-free foods, which leads me to think that they don't really care about people who have those needs. There are 4 million people who need gluten free and it's growing every day. Shelf life on other things is very short​ which leads me to believe that they are stocking things that other companies are rejecting. Definitely a bland source of foods. If you need certain goods, stock up here otherwise for good things that you want to serve your family look elsewhere. read more

First Winco to ever open. I come here every year for the past 10 years to stock up for one month at Yellowstone. Fresh produce, meats, everything one needs and just 110 miles more to the Madison River and West Yellowstone so my RV is not unnecessarily caring weight for 600 miles. Best grocery store in town, great prices great customer service, best place in town to do some late-night grocery shopping when nobody else is around. Deli and bakery are the best fresh food everyday. Night crew is very respectable to the customers to do their late night shopping and even help out if asked. read more

Normally I don't leave reviews, but this was really inappropriate. I was doing a school project where we had to take care of a robot "baby". The staff along with other costumers were incredibly rude and judgmental. Now, it felt embarrassing for me, but I was just imagining actual teen moms. This was really unacceptable. read more

Winco's customer service is garbage. Absolute, utter garbage. Wal Mart has better customer service. Their prices keep me coming back. Here are some tips I've found to help a Winco experience: 1. Make sure you have EVERYTHING you need - they will not double scan something if you forgot to get two, and they WILL make a 9 months pregnant woman run to the back of the store with her three children to grab something. 2. Bring your own bags - Winco's supposed "double strength" bags that they lie to you about to save money on bags (so you don't double bag) break ALL. THE. TIME. 3. If you're in Idaho Falls, go through Shyann's line - her friendly smile is worth it! If you know other nice checkers, please share. There are some that completely suck. read more

Avoid!! We just had the worst customer service experience here. Deborah was checking us out, stopped halfway through, and announced to the whole store that we were using WIC. That's no ones business but our own!! Then complained and was extremely rude the whole time while she shoved our goods back onto the belt and rerang everything. the old ladies that work in self check out need to check their attitudes. every time i go through self checkout there are two ladies specifically who always antagonize the customers. just today i went in and i had a rough day and as i was leaving she said "have a good day, or not". On another occasion. I accidentally typed one number wrong and it rung up incorrectly and the lady made me go to customer service FOR A 20¢ PRICE CHANGE. Is it possible to find cheaper grocery's than Walmart? Yes. This cheap place is Winco. This grocery store is very good for buying: 1) bulk food 2) box foods 3) produce section is okay, you'll find the basics 4) wide-selection of meats 5) wine and beer 6) frozen selection is good This is a good place to stalk-up on basics. Things that will be tough to find and need to know information: 1. beauty and personal hygiene products (they will have a many major brands but not all, and ladies your make-up options consist of NYC, Wet & Wild and a few Maybeline products) 2. Produce is very fresh but will go bad fast so don't overload of fruits and vegetables. 3. It's very crowded most days. 4. You have to bag your own food. (keeps cost low) 5. Credit cards are not accepted (keeps cost low) 6. Small bakery section but they do have freshly made bread. 7. If you are a vegetarian or are looking for a wide-selection of 100% natural products, you will not find everything you need. read more

I go to Winco for my basic grocery shopping needs because it's inexpensive and offers bulk foods. While it's generally crowded, you can go before 9am to have a more leisurely experience (and to shop alongside firefighters and EMT--not sure why they frequent Winco but I try not to question transcendent perks like that one). They have a great selection of items, especially their meat section. And their prices on bread are almost comparable to the discount bread stores in town. But my absolute favorite thing about Winco is the ability to buy things in bulk--from nuts to grains to candy, you can buy an assortment of items by the pound. While they do have a produce section, it's not as fresh as I'd like. And if you're looking for bath and beauty products, I suggest you go somewhere else. It's also important to know that Winco doesn't accept credit cards and you have to bag your own groceries (both of which contribute to their lower prices). read more

Winco is definitely the number one place to shop, especially with costs as they are today. Everything is as fresh as you will find in this town at the right price. It's not watered down and spoiling as it is with much of the "fresh" foods at Walmart. The dollar goes much further here than it will go elsewhere. This is a great super market. Super low prices and the employees are very friendly. Be sure to bring a debit card or cash, because they don't accept credit cards. They have a huge selection of produce and items that you can buy in bulk. If you live in or near Idaho Falls, this is a great place to shop and you don't need to have a membership or get frisked on your way out like at some club stores. read more

This store has decent prices compared to Wal-Mart or Smith's. The organization and set-up is okay (it almost trails you around the store as opposed to having nice aisles to navigate around). The staff is pretty helpful when I ask questions. I would recommend buying things in bulk here, pastas, beans, rice, spices, etc. The meat and produce selection is decent quality and price. I've been going here since i was a kid. It's always good. Sure there are a few quirks. But that is the human condition. Always good prices, great produce, and the 24 hours open is always convenient. I was going through some of the reviews and decided my piece was necessary. While some things may not be to your liking, a good chat with a good attitude will get you farther than being an ass. Understand that we are all human, have different challenges and opinions. The fact that you have a place that is offering such amazing prices, has hard working employees as well as being open 24/7 is something to be grateful for. Talk, listen, and enjoy your time. The new manager Garrett treats his employees like crap. If someone comes to him with a problem, he won't listen and will tell you that you are a waste of his time. I don't work there, but have family members that do. It's sad to see someone you care about get bullied at work and the manager doesn't do anything about it. read more

I like the fresh bread at the bakery, the meat department and the fact that Winco carries a lot of the brands that I look for. I have not had a problem with the employees. I like that I can check out on my own if I do not have a lot of items. The only negative is not enough cashiers. read more

Stopped by this Winco on my home. Went in to buy some can goods and various staple items. I was going to hit up the bulk foods section and buy my rice in bulk, but was stopped short when I saw 2 grown adult Hispanic men literally digging their hands down to the bottom of the rice barrel and playing it, laughing and talking to their other 3 grown adult male friends in Spanish. I don't know what was so funny about playing in 2 barrels of rice when your a grown adult, but after watching them for 2-3 minutes, I walked away and told the employee who was a few feet away what was going on. They need to monitor their bulk foods sections better knowing there are adult morons out there who think it's okay to do something so filthy and ignorant. Other than that, the prices were awesome as usual. I have shopped at Winco in 2 other states and continue to shop there because of their low prices. Employees I came across were pleasant. We will shop again when we are in Idaho Falls, but will probably skip the bulk foods section....at least at this particular Winco. read more

I have shopped at the Idaho Falls store for as long as they have been here. I lived within a 1/2 mile of the first Winco on North Yellow Stone highway shortly after it opened. The store on Woodruff is also convenient located just 3 miles from my current home. The prices are very good and they keep up the stock very well when you consider the volume of people that shop here. The staff is always helpful and often leave the task they are working on to help me find some obscure item line Italian Sundried tomato's or pickled Artichokes. The produce people are always on the run and the meat counter slices my beef or pork sandwich meat to my spec. ( I don't like sandwich meat that I can see my fingerprints through.) I like to put one slice on my sandwich that equals what most people add 3 or for slices to be called a ham samich. Thank You Winco. Winco is cheap, and has everything. It's comparable to a Sam's club, or a Costco, but cheaper. The draw back is they do not take credit. WHICH IS RIDICULOUS! I guarantee on a weekly basis somones pulls up the check out unloads all their food and goes to pay just find out they can't purchase any of the food and now they have to put it all back.
